Today I went to Queensbay. Since I go there quite regularly (several times a week), I tend to notice when the crowd looks "different". For one thing I think I can correlate your initial report: there seemed to be a higher number than usual of sloppily dressed ah beng and ah lian around. Many in fact looked like they swam over from the mainland, and some appeared like they could use a facial rearrangement...
I can only surmise that you as a visitor, had not actually encountered typical Penang girls during your stay here, but rather had sighted mostly holidaymakers who were taking advantage of the upcoming Chinese New Year holidays to cross over to the island to do shopping. Judging from the number plates in the parking bays, they were mostly from KL or Selangor with some from Kedah and Perak. If you want to see what the local girls look like, I suggest you come back during the off-peak season when the sample size is not contaminated by outsiders

(edit) Before that, you seem to be visiting only the touristy places (malls and eating places), even I dun go..so u will meet only ppl from out of town, maybe the sua kus from Kedah or Perak...wanna meet real girls, go out at night on Ladies nite at the usual hotspots but plz ask your parents permission first...lol! Oh yeah, a lot of hot girlsand guys in KL nitespots are from Pg too!
