he is known in EPL 4 his days in wolves at 1997-2002...already infamously take out legs off bellamy n dugarry n ends charlton athletic player matt holmes career...lastly he reportedly told the 18 years old Ashley Young "Don't go past me or I will break your legs!" during match warm up many seasons back
so do u think this is the most hardcore tackle ever in modern football or there is other more hardcore tackle u think can topple this up???dont need 2 include eduardo n ramsey tackle broken legs in bpl bcoz everyone knows it already
No le, Muscat is at least ten times the thug Roy Keane was..And if there's any footballer who gets an injury and made me smile, it's him..This guy shouldnt even be allowed to be on the field playing football

Actually Keane's reputation took a tumble only after he admitted to deliberately injuring Alfe Inge Haaland in a book. I really wouldn't consider him as dirty, except for the incident involving Haaland.
Keane was hard and wears his heart on his sleeves evertime he plays and not afraid to tick off his own team mates. But his brilliance is seen when he captained Man Utd.
Don't confuse dirty players with players who go all out to win the game. What Kevin Muscat did was dirty and in no way be put in the same category as Keane.
Patrick Vieira who famously clashed with Keane several times has spoken of his admiration of Keane, for his winning attitude.
That was a crazy lunge but by no means the sickest tackle ever. I know everyone knows about eduardo and ramsey, and I myself know more being an Arsenal fan, but those two are the sickest I've seen. The intent was there, to harm, to scare Arsenal's "girls". You cant drive your car recklessly and then when you knocked someone say "Oh I'm sorry I didn't mean it." People don't care about how your normally drive, if you know it's dangerous, you shouldn't have driven like that in the first place. Which is why I would punch Shawcross and Taylor's face in if I see them.
Nigel de Jong is quite dirty too.
Oh I have to add, Roy Keane is definitely not a dirty player throughout his career, but he was out for revenge against Haaland.
Kevin Muscat is a prick of the highest order. It's why I have listed him amongst my most hated footballers and why I keep using him as an example.

Muscat was branded a “lowlife” and a “nobody” by ex-England striker Ian Wright, then of Nottingham Forest, in September 1999. Wright claimed he was about to shoot when he heard Dougie Freedman, Forest's other striker, shout "leave it". Wright stepped over the ball to allow Freedman to hit it, but instead Muscat (who had, according to Wright, merely impersonated Freedman) appeared to clear the ball.[11]
Muscat was dubbed the "most hated man in football" by then Birmingham City player Martin Grainger in 2000.[12] He seriously injured both Craig Bellamy and Christophe Dugarry, the latter in a friendly international between Australia and France in 2001 with a sliding tackle from behind.[12] The French manager Roger Lemerre dubbed the tackle "an act of brutality".[12][13] There was speculation that Muscat’s temperament was the reason he was never selected for inclusion in an Old Firm encounter during the season he was at Rangers.[14]
In 2004, a lawsuit on Muscat brought by former Charlton Athletic player Matty Holmes resulted in a settlement of £250,000 plus costs in favour of Holmes, bringing the estimated settlement to around £750,000. Holmes had to have four operations on his leg following a tackle by Muscat in 1998, and there were initial fears that his leg might have to be amputated. The claim was settled at the High Court without any admission of liability.[15][16] In a League Cup tie while at Millwall, he grabbed the throat of Liverpool striker Milan Baros.[17] Also in 2004, Iwan Roberts admitted he deliberately stamped on Muscat in a match against Norwich City in revenge for his attempt to injure Craig Bellamy in 1999. Roberts was subsequently fined and suspended by the Football Association for his comments.[18][19]
In December 2005, he was the first A-League player to appear before a FFA disciplinary hearing and was subsequently suspended for two matches for "violent conduct".[20] At an A-league game in October 2006 Muscat clashed with then Adelaide United coach John Kosmina, knocking Kosmina from his chair while retrieving the ball. Kosmina responded by grabbing Muscat by the throat, an action for which Kosmina was suspended for four matches.[21][22]
Muscat's dominant personality and aggressive style has equally won him admirers and detractors in the A-League, with former England international Terry Butcher stating "Every manager in the A-League would love to have Kevin, and I'm no exception".[23]
In October 2010, Aston Villa winger Ashley Young recalled he was threatened by Muscat during his first professional match as an 18 year old. "Kevin Muscat said he would break my legs if I went past him," said Young. Their meeting occurred as they were warming up for an encounter between Watford F.C. and Millwall back in September 2003, but Muscat was sent off before Young came on as substitute for Watford.[24]
In January 2011, Muscat was suspended for eight matches following a tackle on Melbourne Heart player Adrian Zahra in an A-league fixture.[25]

Now this is nasty and dirty. Typical of Vinnie.
I think his 7 seconds sending off is still a record isn't it?
Added on January 28, 2011, 5:18 pmA popular incident is Harald Schumacher challenge on Battiston. The **** didn't seem to regret it either. It was clear he went for the player intentionally. Battiston later slipped into a coma, lost his two front teeth and damaged his vertabrae.

Unlike Muscat, Joey Barton is actually quite a decent player and this season he has somewhat cleaned up the negative aspects of his game both on and off the pitch. A poor man's Roy Keane perhaps...?
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Robbie Savage though...

I can see why you name both of them the most. But Muscat was high with no intent of ball whatsoever. And he did it multiple times and has no regret over it. No doubt he should get the title.
This thread will soon becomes a fans defending own club's players thread. the only player left is Manchester City's fans are yet to come in to defend nigel.

i remember a stamp on leg that involves axel witsel.correct me if im wrong.im not sure whether the victim was witsel or he was the one who did it.that one for me is horrible.
hurm i thought ramsey was not balannce or something
i nver watch those tackles..looks scary but eduardo leg.. just make me scared to play football with my friends
continuously watch 0:41-0:44 .... which part is not balance...and pay a look at Ramsey's swinging leg as if there is no more bones left..... this is a very strong tackle at the leg that can break tibia fibula anytime.

that is really bad tackle..thanks for sharing between eduardo and ramsey.which one is worst ?
Just unlucky on Ramsey's part. 50/50 ball, and Shawcross already swung his leg to kick the ball away. Unfortunately for Ramsey, he got there a tiny fraction ahead before Shawcross leg hit him. It was too fast for any to back out. It wasn't even a tackle. Shawcross was trying to boot the ball the hell away from there.

this is eduardo's ones.... well...Both of them suffered mroe or less the same degree of painfulness but iirc...Eduardo used shorter time to recover but still it affected Eduardo's career greatly. I guess I might be the only one here to feel the exact painfulness they felt at that incident as my tibia and fibula broke into 2 parts.... and whole ankle fractured as a result from falling from about 5 metres+ . at first you felt nothing..... at least there is no more feeling on your leg... but your leg will be shaking none the less..... then 2-3 minutes later.... you felt the pain and its indescribable.

only a idiot would like their own player injured/career shorten!
how bad is the player is, he is still football player for the clubs. No one wants a career threatening/ending tackes like you do apparantely.
How about a highest paid player in the club and so what we so called "striker" not score for at least 1 goal in this season... whenever he play we will either lose or luckily draw..

Its really understandable at the moment. Imagine our striker. The highly-rated player who scored in UCL twice. Sulking over his low-paid contract as compared to the other striker. We upgrade his contract to a better one and now he's playing like shite. We should've had a clause to downgrade his contract back if he's playing shite.

Yes totallly agreed with it seems like they have no heart of playing..it's all just about the money now...
BtW this now getting out off topic..back to real discussion...which is the world sickest tackle ever made.... i vote for shawcross tackle on ramsey last season but it more to 50/50 ball but it really² sick....

I thought you were referring to a certain Wayne Rooney.
As much as i hated Shawcross for his tackle that broke Ramsey's leg, i don't think he went in to break Ramsey's leg. He went in heavy and i think he wanted to be gung ho in order to stamp his authority on the pitch. Obviously it went all wrong and Ramsey was on the receiving end of it. To be honest, i don't how how exactly did Ramsey broke his bones. I mean i don't wanna see the replay on how it happened. It's just sick. But anyways, Shawcross was a promising England defender, but somehow he has faded abit after that horror lunge. I think he suffered abit after that. He was seen crying leaving the pitch and that tells you how much he regretted that tackle.
The only thing that needs to be done is that managers should step in and tell the players what's acceptable and what's not. I'm pretty sure some managers tell the their players to deliberately kick their opposition in order to instill some fear, the same thing that happened to Arsenal over the years. Similarly, they should be held accountable for their players behavior on the pitch. When Eduardo and Ramsey broke their legs, the Birmingham and Stoke manager came out publicly to defend their players saying its not malicious..the player is not dirty...the player is the nicest kid in the training ground and those bull crap. I think its bollocks and these managers such apologise on behalf of the player for the violent tackle and this would set a precedence on other players and managers.

For Sure he (shawcross) wasn't mean it to break the leg but after this situation..maybe some lack of mentality player will afraid to approach againts him him during match..
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Robbie Savage though...
Robbie Savage, I'd lump him together with Dennis Wise. Neither are malicious but both annoy the he'll outta anyone. They do all they can to throw you off your game with niggling little challenges and snide comments.
What do Wise and Muscat has in common though? Both played for Millwall. Lucas Neil, Tim Cahill, Ben Thatcher (google is challenges of Pedro Mendes and some Chinese bloke during a tour of China). The Den is a notorious place to visit. The last time Liverpool visited, the fans sang a disgraceful song aimed at a Scouse engineer(?) who was abducted by terrorists in Afghanistan and who was beheaded live on video. This led to a scuffle between both sets of fans, where chairs were ripped from their foundations and tossed around. I think the fans at The Den bay for blood and demand that players cause damage.
Another challenge which comes to mind is John Fashanu's (another former Milwall player coincidentally) challenge on Gary Mabutt which left the latter with a broken eye socket and fractured skull.
Eric Cantona? the famous kung fu kick? that was only one time incident. not repetitous.
Does anyone remember Gary Busst? the receiving end of a tackle which ended his career.
Cantona definitely noty dirty. There's only 1 challenge that made people remember him, that would be the kung fu kick. Even that he was provoked when a fan ran down towards the direction of him walking into the tunnel after being sent off and started saying something bad.
I think you meant Dave Busst. It was a collision of legs between Irwin and McClair with Busst that resulted in a massive leg break for him. What made it more worst was that there was an open wound, likely due to the bone piercing thru the skin. They had to wash the grass with water to clear the blood stain, so much that Schmeichel puked a few times. Gruesome.
