This seems rather promising. Can't wait to get one really. Not really for the gaming bit. More for the hacking + homebrew developing part.

If it's hacked, it'll bring the glory days of the PSP homebrew community back to life once more. And I can't wait to be part of that smile.gif

And to those who're mad at this machine for not having the ability to make phone calls, come on.. this is a game console. :/

so i can view vertically or horizontally with this psv especially when i browsing? then that is the best.. btw hope can get a more detail review with this phone.. i would like to know browsing experience with psv compared to the old psp.. browsing in psp is so sucks, n somehow it is very slow despite my connection is quite fast. also on psp, often i got the out of memory error when browsing into certain website. hope the virtual keyboard will be good too. reallylooking forward for this psv as my psp has died due to bug cfw.. sad.gif  tongue.gif
*
That I wouldn't know. They haven't revealed much yet about that. And it's not a phone tongue.gif

The PSP handheld system is a handheld gaming device, where gaming specs are given more priority compared to unnecessary ones like Flash capability as well as a good browser. Of course, having a decent web browser would be awesome, but I'm dead sure it wouldn't be able to replace the browsing experience of a device that is MEANT to browse the internet.

You mean you bricked you PSP? Ahh.. sucky sad.gif

can u make a call usin psVita? if it is, bye2 iphone tongue.gif

You can't as far as I know. But if there's Skype included, then it's a different story.

But you wouldn't want to trade your iPhone for this. That's like trading a business/entertainment phone for a device that concentrates on games, and only games. I'm sure the web browsing, e-mailing, organizing experience on the iPhone would be MUCH better than the PSV.

so the price is rm750 for the Wifi version?

when PS Vita release?
*
I wouldn't convert the $250 price tag directly. I guess we ought to wait and see about that. It'll be released at the end of 2011. But that's in the US.

QUOTE(afeeq @ Jun 8 2011, 11:34 AM)
does vita trasfarring can be used for all games or certain supported games only?
*
That I do not know. But I believe there are game 'cards'.

Added on June 8, 2011, 11:58 amOh, and those wanting the ability to make calls, why not opt for the Xperia Play instead? It's supposedly a PS Phone smile.gif

Awww! I bet the shops in Malaysia are going to make a lot of profit out of this....They might be selling at RM1000++ on launch in Malaysia...

if rm1000, i better go buy ps3, cause i dont have a ps3 yet
*
Yeah, I'm sure that'd be the case. But maybe around RM900. I don't have a PS3 either. Just a PS2 console, 2 phat PSPs and 1 PSP slim. All with custom firmware installed smile.gif

This machine is simply too tempting. Ahh.. imagine homebrew on this thing wub.gif

*
Yeah, but I'm not REALLY impressed with the touchpad. No doubt that touch screens are a major selling point, but I'm not exactly sure how this whole thing works. But if they were to allow users to choose whether they wish to activate, or disable the touch pad in game, then it'll be perfect,

3g? hmmm if got phone in out calls also would be better
*
Nobody mentioned about it being able to make calls, and I doubt they would have integrated the phone functionality into the PS Vita, as the sales for the Xperia Play would definitely drop then.

QUOTE(Oblivionz @ Jun 8 2011, 12:13 PM)
is the psv much more powderful than ps3? or on par?
*
Hell no. That's wayyyyyy tooo much man tongue.gif It's on par with the PSP system definitely. But nowhere near the PS2/PS3 consoles.

QUOTE(wilsonphua @ Jun 8 2011, 12:14 PM)
Btw, whats the meaning of homebrew though?

I also have a phat PSP. Quite lag when play Ghost of Sparta. LOL.
*
Homebrew is used to describe self-made, non-commercial games by programmers and developers who're part of the PSP community. For instance, if you're good at programming in the C language, and you're wanting to develop a game. So you download the SDK, whip up a game, and you share it with a forum or website that you regularly visit. The news will then spread, and within two days, you'd see your program all over the net (provided that the site you initially uploaded it to is a popular one, that is)

Here are the homebrew games/apps and plugins that I've made for the PSP console : http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/910635

Yeah, the Phat PSP is a great console. Well, it has 32MB worth of RAM, so blehh tongue.gif

I could see it to be above PS2 and still not surpass PS3. it can play PS3 quality games as it need lesser graphic power to play the game on smaller screen.
*
Nope. The PS2 system is way to powerful for the PSP. And it's going to be the same for the PSV as well. It was tough work to even get N64 games to run at fullspeed on the PSP system with an emulator.

I agree that PS2> PSP and PS3>PSV in the sense of hardware.

but less power is required to run the game on the small screen as opposed to big TV. Thus PS3 games can still be ported to PSV.

When you run games on emulator, it is not optimised for the hardware and it will still run the game on full detail as if it needed for TV.
*
Ahhhh.. you mean ports? Then of course, yeahh. I thought you were talking about emulators. Sorry, my bad smile.gif

what are game cards? lol, sorry, noob here hahaha
*
If I recall right, they'd be using NGV (or something like that) cards which are capable of storing up to 4GB worth of data. So you just stick the card into the provided slot, and you can boot your game right up. Sorta like a cartridge. I don't know how a NGV (or whatever) card looks like anyway tongue.gif

And no more XMB (Xross Media Bar) that we all saw on the earlier versions of the PSP. This is fresh drool.gif

The idea is that PS3 games can be ported to PSV.
*
Yeah, I'm guessing that's what it is all about. Pretty decent smile.gif

Now, I hope the game cards aren't too be sold at a really high price. But it's interesting to see what the developers can offer as they're given the freedom to use the 4GB (Maximum I think) cards rather than the 1.8GB (Dual layer) UMDs. I hope we'd be able to see good games smile.gif

And also, lots of developers are keen on developing for this console. 80+ developers from what I heard.

Some sources believe it can be used to make phone calls, but I'm not sure as lots of others are brushing off those rumours.

homebrew will lead to piracy in the hands of an average joe.

C++/homebrew/linux/folding/overclocking/etc go to PC pls.. consoles are bound to the manufactures RULES while PCs are more open source

go buy PS Phone le.. aka Xperia Play
*
It CAN, but that only will happen if a programmer/hacker comes up with an ISO loader (Or whatever the image of the games will be). But homebrew wouldn't lead to piracy. Ignorant users will. Homebrew is extremely fun, and it'll help us users make the most out of our consoles.

*
Yes, you should be able to play purchased PSP titles on your PS Vita. However, this doesn't include the hard copy of the games which of course comes in the form of a UMD disc. You should be able to run PSP titles, mini games, as well as PSX titles downloaded from the PS store.

I wouldn't really go for the 3G service. Now that we can get decent WiFi connection almost everywhere in most major cities, I don't see why I should get the 3G one smile.gif
