Sorry am confused on the FAQ above... where does LPCM fit in this??
"HDMI

PCM Mode:
Dolby TrueHD/DTS-HD MA/Multich PCM ---> PS3/BDP [DECODER**] ---> Multich PCM ---> AVR [DAC-AMP] ---> Speakers (Lossless)"

Previously I asked in v10 thread:
"Thanks much. Excuse me if this is a bit off topic but the quality will still depend on the sampling rate of LPCM, DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD or is that standardised and understood?"

If you not had enough with classics like The Sound Of Music , then checkout Blade Runner.
Try getting the 5 disc Collector's edition. Its a must have classic..
Besides the alternate endings that I heard, is there any difference in PQ and AQ getting the single disc version?

Think double feature is good deal. Getting the First Knight/A knight's tale as well. Anyone knows how to search for all the double feature on sale from Amazon?

The 5-disc edition has FIVE versions of the movie - the "Domestic Cut," the "International Version," the "Director's Cut" the "Workprint" and the "Final Cut".

Do you guys suggest getting the 5 disc or single disc version for one who never seen the show?

I heard a lot of good for Bladerunner and 5th Element. But when I saw 5th element I thought the story sucks though PQ and special effects were impressive. Is the Bladerunner storyline good?

BD technology is a good successor to LD as VCD and DVD was never a good replacement for LD . The PQ and AQ of a BD is definitely better than a LD . I enjoyed watching LD during the 90`s but the BD technology is exciting and access to movies are more than then time LD `s was the technology .Unfortunately during that time we had the LD player the LD `s were so expensive and we were only able to rent them. The size of the LD was also huge and was prone to damage . I hated flipping the disc to watch the 2nd part of the movie as sometimes the movies are long and needed more space . Bd`s resolved many of the issue that LD`s had . I prefer BD`s anytime over LD`s .
Not sure if LD was better than DVD as LD was analogue? The huge size was really a turn off.

In any case CRT were not that big in the past to be able to see that much details so my memory may be fuzzy.

Do action stars really need good acting? Sly is one of the best known action stars back in the 80s... nobody tops him; maybe Schwarzenegger came close. Apart from his other great action flicks, Cop Land is one of his better dramas in the late 90s.

But nothing tops this; my first movie of Sly... before he became popular with action flicks:

Haha knew this and he is forever haunted by this biggrin.gif Ditto for HK star Shu Qi

Funny no one mention Rambo biggrin.gif Actually not bad for a pawn star to be successful with 2 alias Rocky and Rambo

Anyway just some interesting snippets on Raspberry award which mentions Expendables:

last nite finish watch airbender...
wondering why the western and almost all ppl say this movie sucks..
i totally not agree with it. i very enjoy watching this movie.
if compare with narnia i rather watch this..

PQ are great almost all the time.. just when there on the pond trying to kill the spirit, i notice the black level is not equal. not sure intended or what.. other than that, is good all the time...

AQ are excellent. reference quality i would say. without this AQ this movie not much enjoyable. surround is lively all the time. nicely done for the AQ especially on the bass and surround.

really looking forward for 2nd episode
Most people comment that you will only appreciate Airbender if you saw the cartoons. Have you watched it before?

But from movie making perspective already failed if you can't tell a story without assuming the audience had background knowledge...

Also one of the top Raspberry award winner tongue.gif

I think the bit rate for pirated are "starved" because they use 25GB disc?? Usually AQ is not starved as less demanding

Any reason why they can't use 50GB disc? Cost or some special process for 50GB disc?

not really, if not mistaken someone here sell rm8 for 50gb BD-R...
Any technical reason then? Or maybe 50GB stamping machines hard to come by laugh.gif

But rm8 considered ex I guess compared to their average selling price...

well it's ok, worth the wait for a remaster... and can save budget for another year. nway the dvd can suffice for now if really want 2 watch...  tongue.gif

agree.... rather wait for the better version and save money & disappointment.. just like LOTR trilogy... Not as if it's a new show smile.gif

Releases that underutilise BD capability is unforgiveable mad.gif I think it should be mandatory to put on the BD box 1) whether it is remastered 2) year of remastering

I'm a little confused, r u talking abt the Lethal Weapon Collection?
*
Sorry to confuse you with the rant. Was talking in general for some sub par BD release including LOTR. 2 topics altogether smile.gif

Was tempted to get the Lethal Weapon set as price reasonable but AVS forum seemed to suggest it can be better if remastered. Sometimes don't understand why they can't just do a Sound of Music for all remasters. Seems like Universal releases are main culprits.

Oh man... means my rant not gonna end soon cry.gif

It should not be consumers having to dig up all the reviews and forums and find out what is the best for them when the studios don't give enough information about their product

[*]The Close Encounter of the Third Kind  - Beginning until middle still ok, quite interesting, once it step in where the actor like crazy human building that mountain, ok la.. I dislike it already, and the ending using that few notes to communicate looks stupid to me, sorry this not my type of Sci-Fi movie and I think this the only Steven Spielberg movie I dislike.
Agree. Ditto with 2001 Space Odyssey. Both with good beginnings and end like crap.

yup I think I was the one doh.gif But will still wait for the review and see if there is any improvement on the transfers in the EE. The Hobbit is coming out soon... so quadrilogy.... but I may not be a good ref as I am cheapskate and only get after at least 6 months later when prices collapse thumbup.gif
