Ghajini (year 2008 Hindi Edition) - BD Review

user posted image

Yesterday night finish watching the year 2008 Hindi edition of Ghajini. I am impress with it storyline, acting, shooting, music compose, a brilliant yet touching hindi film.

Even though the movie itself was inspired by US film "Memento". I found out from Wiki. But it is well done and deserve it box office result.

I give this movie 5 star and highly recommended.

Picture Quality
Surprisingly great transfer, among 3 Hindi BD title I only own, this is by far the greatest transfer, no jerking, no color banding issue, no over DNR and etc. 5 star.

Audio Quality
Love the music compose by A. R. Rahman, something different and he is genius on this arena. But the music effect in this film is over high pitch, the treble is somehow too high on material crashing part which will eventually hurt your ear, I understand most Hindi film more on treble but this one is over done on those effect until I had no choice lower down the volume. 3 star.

Extra
No single extra added, but I do love the way it do where there is a "song" selection part that direct you to the movie singing part.

You're right, the movie were inspired from Memento, was filmed in Tamil in 2005 and was re-shoot in Hindi by the same director. Both were massive hits especially the Tamil version. It has lot more stronger storyline. Ghajini means "Revenger". In Hindi, it was a different case, the villains name was Ghajini , so that was a major upset. Probably it would fit the industry. This movie, had been reviewed earlier in the version 7/8 , cant remember.

Excellent comments from your end.

I use TV speaker only, haha.. I don't own any HT.

But it is high treble, I prefer bass... I know Hindi film more treble, I compare with another two BD title, this one in certain scenes is OMG! high pitch!

Ya, thinking about it... but until now non of the movie I own having such high pitch glass breaking sound and etc.

So it is over high pitch and too loud. (like every part volume at 50% then suddenly it switch to 130% loud treble.)

Last time I got All-in-one HT for DVD, some hindi film effect is always over high note for me one.

Actually TV speaker tune it nicely also not bad... I not use or buy any HT as my neighbor keep blah blah blah one..so forget it la..and I already get use to TV speaker, as long it sound nice, got certain small bass and importantly NO High treble.

You may need to lower the surround left & right channels by approx. '4 db', before you start the movie.

In Indian cinema whether Bollywood or Hollywood, you wouldn't miss the huge thunderous soundtracks. Its a heavy usage of sounds effects at each frame. Yes, Ghajini has no DNR applied, EE not present and the lossless DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio track is also top notch (Thanks to Mr Chandna from Digital Entertainment). Nothing short of romance , stunts , emotion.

Aamir Khan is well known for his great acting talents, certainly 2nd after Kamal Hassan. For your information, the Tamil version is much punchy compared to Hindi in terms of Audio. Since it was only released on DVD, no comments on the PQ tho..

I already adjust, it suite 99.9% of the movie I own, is ok la.... only one movie got over high treble. hehe... (overall the sound is great, just few drop of mirror break is crazy over high treble and over loud)

Ya, Aamir Khan acting is great and I so surprise he quite old already and still can maintaining like that.

I like to watch the Tamil version as I love to compare.

Tamil version too bad only on DVD.. blush.gif. Tamil version has much solid performance from both main hero & heroine (in fact same heroine in both Tamil & Hindi).
The BGM in Tamil is lot better than Hindi version. See it for yourself biggrin.gif
