Its perfectly normal with B&N if you are not a regular with their shipping procedure. Once you've submitted your order , there will be an automated confirmation email of your orders. You will then provided with a scheduled date to ship. Once the item sent out for shipment, there will be another automated email saying your item has been shipped. The estimated time scheduled by B&N for Standard shipping is 7 - 21 Business days. There's nothing to shout about on the shipment schedules & services but certainly it arrives safer than expected (based on my personal experience). To answer your question whether they will reship item if you have not received within the due date , yes..they will @ no additional charges and if your parcel arrives by any chance, you get to keep it as complimentary (i just had one entire order refunded for a mishap by them)

On less than many occasions , my packages has arrived late or even after delivery due date. All i need to do was an email to be sent and item will be shipped at no cost (immediately usually!). It's almost identical with the rest of the online retailers with the way of handling customers needs.

What was the problem you faced with B&N shipment?
*
Thank you so much for providing such in-depth explanation.

At this point in time, I must say that I have yet to have any problem with their shipment except the fact that it has yet to arrive since the BDs were shipped on 25th Feb. Perhaps I have been "pampered" by AMZ all these while which deliver within 9 working days at the latest. This is my first time purchase through B&N and probably be my last given such a lengthy delivery process - I don't mind paying extra USD2 for a quicker delivery by AMZ.

Thanks again for the help.

Bought my 41st (or is it 42nd) title at Speedy yesterday; Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole Blu-ray RM99.

Simple review -
I am absolutely stunned by the PQ. If you want to buy just one disc as demo disc - this is the one you should buy! The AQ is as good with loseless DTS MA - for those of you who have a 5.1 or a 7.1 - just listen to the battle between the Guardians and Pure Ones towards the end-of the movie. The sound of those scenes is already worth the money you pay for the disc.

All in all - this BD should be classified as a MUST-HAVE title. This movie or BD represents the absolute best audio and video quality that 1080p Blu-ray has to offer.

Thinking of the above, we should start a tread to voice our opinion on MUST-HAVE titles. What do you think?

Hi Andrew,
I got the trainspotting from AMZ UK, the quality is soso only, but it is very cheap, at around RM15, together with SHALLOW GRAVE, another DANNY BOYLE early movie.

My TOP 10 Lisy would be:
1)APOCLAYPSE NOW - FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA most dedicated project, a movie not perfect but a flim maker really tested his limit.
2)FORREST GUMP - 1 of the best transfer i seen for a 1990s title.
3)BLACK HAWK DOWN - Technical at best, gun firing, tension, camera work, all at RIDLEY SCOTT top form. SONY Bluray disc is a demo material.
4) DELICATESSEN - STUDIO CANAL release, LION GATE ZoneA, a FRENCH drak, black comedy with lots of surprises. Camera work matched perfectly with the Movie score & iits dark humor.
5) SEVEN - New line cool digibook - PC & sound quality is at top notch. Horror & dark, best performance from BRAD PITT, MORGAN FREEMAN & KEVIN SPACEY.
6) LEON : The Professional - I need to include at least 1 LUC BESSON movie, it would be LEON, a movie made in US by a French Director, 1 of the best movie score by ERIC SERA, staring JENE RENO, GARY OLDMAN & NATALIA PORTMAN. Cold, cool, stylish, the SONY BLURAY offer good pic/sound & extended cut.
7) 2001 SPACE ODYSEY - Stanley Kubrick masterpiece in 1960s, way b4 the CGI. The space effects looks much better/real & dimension than the latest STARWARS PRE-Quel. best watch at large screen with HD projector.
8) MINORITY REPORT - i pick up MI Report rather tahn a much better mv Saving Private Ryan because I felt this Minority REport Blurayactually changed the way how I felt about the movie. Athe movie never look & sound so great before. the details, color, sounds effects, wow. Besides, I hv to include 1 of my favorite star TOM CRUISE.
9) HERO (JETLi/TONY LEE) - this is the chinese big action movi i lived the most. woth multi layer, beautiful, & worth repeat viewing. Too bad the BD only offer DOLBY DIGITAL 5.1
10) TRANSFORMER 2 - ha, i know is a bad movie, but it is demo disc. Sorry, guys, I just don't like AVATAR.

i love HEAT, SEVEN SAMURAI, GOODFELLAS, LOTR, TAXI DRIVER, PIXAR INCREDIBLES, but neither they are in good bluray nor release yet.
*
My top 10 list
1. Legend of the Guardian - Top PQ, period.
2. Avatar - another demo and reference disc in both PQ and AQ
3. Royale Casino - if you aim to show the best detail, best PQ of what is Bluray is all about - this is the one you should be demo-ing.
4. Ice-age 3 - The detail is so great on this animation, you will fell in love with the film because of the PQ not because of the storyline
5. T2 Skynet Edition - this is one of the best AQ - way better than my original DVD!
6. Iron Man 1&2 - Both are reference quality material. It should be able to test your HT and TV to the fullest
7. Once upon a time in China - A MUST HAVE title for martial art film, superb PQ and AQ (although the transfer may not be the best)
8. BBC Life - Already reviewed above.
9. Ip Man 1 & 2 HK Edition - DTS MA 7.1; Another reference quality material especially the AQ. Forget about the movie - just impress your friend by showing the scene where Ip Man is fighting the Japanese General (in chapter 1) and Ip Man fighting Sammo Hung (in chapter 2) - and blast your HT!!

Other consideration
1. Transformer - PQ and AQ are good but somehow, there is no significant jump from original DVD set. So I am not putting them as MUST have titles

hi Johnsontys,

where to get the ONCE UPON A TIME IN CHINA 1/2 or trilogy? what $? is the pic ok? cause i read review is bad. love the movie.
*
I have not read any review of the film but neither I am expert in flim reviewing - but yes, don't expect the film transfer to be anywhere near top-notch but you have to remember the film is almost 20 years old or more. Some grain is noticeable but at an acceptable level. But when you are watching the film, I am focusing on the martial art movement rather than the grainy issue - thus, maybe I did not notice the quality transfer issue.

As far as the AQ is concerned, no problem for me - the fighting sequence between Jet Li and the Villian (ladder fighting scenes) are just superb. Maybe is my lower expectations or I may not have a very good HT but I find the AQ to be great.

I bought the BD at Speedy - cost me RM79.90

But I believe you can get the whole boxset online - yesasia or DVDbearer or something like that - which is based in HK. It is slightly cheaper. I am not sure if the film is available in AMZ.

Just want to ask a quick question.

Earlier this month, on a business trip to Belgium, I bought a BD - Robin Hood Steelbook edition (blind purchase) without checking the Region code. As far as I know the AMZ UK edition is Region AB.

Try to play it on by BD Player - it pass through the initial screen - like warning, copyright and so on. BD player also detected Cinema content of the disc. But upon reaching the loading page - going to the main menu - it just stuck there for a long time.

I cannot even turn off the BD player via remote or pressing the hard button on the player itself - I have to unplug the wire and plug it back in order for me to eject the disc.

Does that mean that this is a Region B locked disc? Anybody experience this before?

hi bro,
1st - what brand is your player (sony/samsung?)
2nd - if Zone B disc, usually it would hv the message of ZONE B once u put in your disc, it would not cause your player hang.
did it go to the main menu for u to choose, like film, scene, audio option? or it direct stuck b4 the movie menu?
3rd - i believe is your firmware not updated.

forgot to mention, Robin Hood menu is a complicated one, it took my Pioneer 3 minutes to read.

Hi bro,

1. I am using the Panasonic BD-45. Bought it in December. This player is without internet connection. Thus, I am not too sure how to upgrade the firmware.

2. It did not reach the main menu - the first menu, it ask which language to select, after selecting English, it prompt me some copyright and warning message. Then the screen turn black with a tiny icon in the middle indicating it is loading. And it just continue to be in that screen for 5 minutes or more. So I decided to stop it from loading and it just hang.

3. How to upgrade firmware?

Set BD-Live function to Prohibit, then you should play it smoothly.  Mine Robin Hood is UK Steelbook version.  Also encountered this problem but once I set BD-Live function to "Prohibit" (Can't remember... tongue.gif  Just completely disable BD-Live function in your BD45 player instead of partial disable), everything will run smoothly.

But BD45 got BD-Live function?  rclxub.gif  I am using Panasonic BD60 and once I prohibit the BD-Live function, everything run smoothly.

I have mentioned this issue few months back.  Check early version of this thread.

Bro,

Thanks for the message. Very embarassingly, I need to ask how do you set the BD-Live function in the Panasonic BD Player. Mine is BD45 - do not have any BD-Live function nor any RJ45 port at the back. Have tried to search for it via Function Menu - but no such option.

Added on March 23, 2011, 8:36 amJust to share with you my humble collection. Not a lot only 43 movies - but consider the fact that I only started my first Blu-ray around last Christmas - I think I am accumulating at a very fast phase.

Crazy...many disc is still being wrapped - I have yet to open them and my purchase has not stopped. Still waiting for 7 more movies from AMZ US - should be able to reach 50 movies by 1st week April...

Have anyone purchase from Amazon Japan - what are the typical freight charges and how long it will take to deliver to Malaysia.

Similarly, can anybody share experience in purchasing from Amazon China?

AFAIK, all current entry level BDPs is of Profile 2.0 and thus has BD-Live function except for Pana BD45, which is probably with Profile 1.1 only. Since BD45 do not have BD-Live funtion, you cannot enable or disable it and your problem is probably not there. Most likely you need to upgrade your firmware to play the newer BD as suggested in earlier post. Since Profile 1.1 does not support networking, there is also no LAN (RJ45) port. Those BDP with Profile 2.0 will have a LAN port where the latest firmware will be downloadable when network connected. To upgrade your firmware for BD45 (if available), you will have to download and copy it to a USB drive or burn to a CD-R and run it from your BD45. Check the pana website for firmware upgrade. Hope this helps.

Great and thanks.

Downloaded the firmware upgrade for BD45 and burn to a CD-R as instructed from the Pana website. Upgrading the firmware is a breeze.

First thing is to put back the Robinhood BD and test if I can watch it. WOW! Loading to the menu only take a mere 5 seconds!!
It prompt me to click Theatrical version or Director's cut - after clicking straight bring me to the main menu!!

It was real great and thanks for all your assistance.

I have recently ordered 4 BDs from Amazon.de. However, one of them is a pre-order and only will be shipped in June 2nd.

Would Amazon charge me on the latest price for the 3 BDs (this mean the price when all BDs are shipped in June) that were not under pre-order or will it honour the price of purchase (price that was listed now)?

I actually request to ship all in one parcel so everything will be shipped in June 2nd

Guys,

Today both my wife and mom ask me two questions which I am unable to answer and probably you can share your experience to answer them

Question 1 - Of all your BD collection, you have not even watch half of them and yet you are continuing your purchase, shouldn't you watch all first before making the next batch of purchase?

Question 2 - Of those you have watched, how likely are you to re-watch it again and again and they are most likely to be stored in the cabinet to collect dust - so what's the point of buying so many BDs

Well, I am lucky to say that affordability is not an issue but I seriously do not know how to answer those questions. Please help!

I virtually click to the WB website when I got the news - when the coupon is still valid.
After keying in all the particulatrs, upon checking out, it tells me that they cannot ship to Malaysia.

Shipping cost is a whipping USD20.

So no lost on this one

Bro, was told that Ip Man 1 & 2, if Hong Kong version sounds better. I'm 'saving' up to buy the combo pack.  biggrin.gif
*
Probably I can share my experience.

Bought Ip Man 1 & 2 from HK - better AQ (7.1, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital 5.1, LPCM) compared to UK (Cantonese: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1). I believe there are also some extra features that s not available in the UK version - if I am not mistaken it is Gala Premier.

In HK, Ip Man is selling at HK236 per disc. I have not seen both movies - still rapped in the plastic cover and in my cabinet, so cannot comment on the PQ and AQ

However, if you go to Speedy outlet - they are selling Ip Man and Ip Man 2 at about RM89.90 each - I believe it is also HK version. Perhaps you can check it out. Regretted buying from HK since it is available in Speedy outlets.

Just wandering have anybody pre-orderd LOTR Extended Version from Amazon.com. Based on the current price, the cost will be around USD92 (shipped).

Just notice that Amazon UK is also offering the same package with slight cheaper cost - around £52 (shipped). But not sure if this is a Region free BD. Also the 9 DVDs which are inclusive could be Region 2. I presume our BD player cannot play Region 2 DVD?

Guys,

Reading from previous posts, it seems that some have very bad experience with i-parcel. I bought some BDs from AMZ US and chose Standard Shipping and was given i-parcel with some tracking number.

BDs shipped on 22nd March and still not arrived. Usually, when I order from AMZ, it arrives within or less than 9 days (including weekend). Getting worried as the tracking said that they have already shipped on 28th March.

Can share some of your experience with i-parcel? Does it always delay - i.e. arrive later than the estimate date of arrival stated from the AMZ?

Oh my god...after reading all your posts, it appears that anything that is sent through i-parcel have a 95% chance of delay.

This mean my parcel will be delayed too!!! The tracking shown that it has left US since 28th March and it is already more than 2 weeks with the status in-transit...when it is going to arrive?

The estimate date of arrival is on Wednesday next week...do you think there will be any chance it will arrive before that?
