hi all,

LATEST DEAL - DIEHARD COLLECTION - AMZ US - U$26 only!
4 movies - average U$7/disc

DIE 1 - a must, classic with ok BD quality
D2 - bad mv with low BD quality
D3 - my favourite, good action MV in good BD
D4 - very good BD for hometheater, surround effect kicks ass

APOCALYSE NOW UK is released under STUDIO CANAL, so it will be Region B.

Studio Canal Region B disc can be play at PIONEER Zone A player. u just need to do some trick with your remote. (also depends your firmware)

Try your luck, brother with the following steps:

1st - put in the ZB disc to your Pioneer Player
2nd - it will display at your screen as Zone B Disc
3rd - press STOP button with your remote
4th - the disc will stop plaing with pioneer logo at the screen
5ft - Press "Next" with your remote

haha, if u are lucky, the disc will start at Chapter 1.

THis work with most UK OPTIMUM disc too. But, not at the Disney/fox/new line release.

I am also very tempted to purchase this - US26 is a really good deal.
However many review that there is some major issue with the PQ and AQ especially for Die Harder.

So the problem has not been rectified yet since last year? If that is the case, it is pointless to buy this as a collector item. Better wait until a better edition is out
*
i agree the Die harder is very weak in BD, lots of reviwers & DIEHARD fans also claimed Die Harder is the weakest in the franchise.

I doubt FOX will spend big bug to restored or remaster DIEHARDER, unless there is really lots of Fans demand it. But who knows? FOX also restored FRENCH CONNECTION 2 & ALIEN 3.

Let's hope BRUCE WILLIS will make DIE HARD 5 - "DIE HARDEST in 3D" & then the full DIEHARD package restored & released again.

haha... nice one. hope more bd players capable to overide some region lock discs in future. i still owned a '98 pioneer dv-505 dvdp; where with a few remote tricks can oceride all dvd regions  thumbup.gif

it would not work at SONY/SAMSUNG/PANASONIC BD player.

Then does that mean that the issue with the PQ/AQ of this DieHard2 has been rectified to an acceptable level by FOX or is it still an issue. USD26 for all four movies is really a good deal - especially to me as I have yet to even own them in DVD
*
hi,
I just revisted the DIE HARD BOX SET last night, my opinion is as follows:
DIE1 - been remastered & restored at a very acceptable quality.
DIE2 - not as bad as reviews claim, depends on what media u watch with. pls note D2 is made in 1989/1990 & the movie is not shoot at hi-def camera. it was filmed at tradisional way with lots of dark scence, in fact the whole mv took place at 1 night. I do not think fox rectified the problem, as i believe D2 looks acceptable.
DIE3-very good pic q.
DIE 4 - near demo.

I would say go ahead, U$26 is about 3 BD $. just consider buying D1,3 & 4 with bonus D2 in the price tag.

surprisingly, there is more ALIEN franchise fans than Diehard franchise. Actually Diehard Franchise made much more money for Fox than the Alien.

Ha ha ha,

Don't worry, I purchase my BD from AMZ US, AMZ UK (most of them), Speedy, overseas (during travelling).

Still in my to-get-list
1. 2012 - still wandering whether I should get this from Amazon Germany (Steebook Edition) or get the 3-disc edition from Amazon US?
2. Back to the Future Trilogy - should I get this from the AMZ US or UK? waiting for price to drop
3. Rambo 1-4 - Waiting for price to drop
4. GI Joe - No special edition? Price very high now!

I recently bought Robin Hood Steelbook edition while traveling in Belgium. It's a blind purchase as I know the UK version (also steelbook) is region free. But it cannot be played in my Player!!! Sob Sob...it can play the title and warning page but it stucked while it is trying to reach the Movie Menu. Anybody can help?
*
for Back to the future, wait for UK, the $ might down to 17pounds.
Rambo 1 to 3 box set is very cheap now at AMZ US, same as RAMBO (DTS HD-7.1)

Yes, brother...if I am not holding back with my purchase, I should be able to match your number of titles in 36 months.
Please slow down your purchase so that I can play catch up!!!
*
no problem bro, i really need to slow down, my credir card bill just came & i am shock! rclxub.gif

some motivation for RAMBO UK UK$17 only, (however not 7.1)

anyone know this movie "AMER"? Quentin Tarantino claim it is his TOP 20 in 2010.

AMZ UK Sales 3 universal movie UK$13 only

Thanks bro. Apparently I have done some research on this box-set as well. Some forumer (from overseas) claimed that despite the box-set printed as region-free, it only applied to the first 3 movies. The fourth movie - Rambo is Region B locked. That is why I am still waiting for the US boxset. But the set back is the 4th movie (Rambo) in the US box set is only standard edition - not the extended edition. So may need to buy the boxset for movie 1-3 and then the 4th movie extended version separately - meaning more money.

But since I have spent USD60+, no more money already. Need to wait till April.

seems like i been underestimate your JEDI power in controlling budget & not easy to lead u to the DARKSIDE for crazy buying. I need to work harder to post more sales info here. haha.

For RAMBO, i did what u said, RAMBO 1 to 3 box set + extended. Cool movie but bad presentation, i box + 1 disc, err, not good for displaying

Well, that's not the only site you can use as reference. Partially blu-ray.com is useful but not always and its good practice to read the threads people create over there on the released titles.
If you read them patiently, you'll get the info you wanted.

thanks for all senior members on the info.

With OPPO 93 multi Zone comin to MAlaysia, i believe soon or later we do not need to worry ZA & B anymore.

On another note, has anyone pre-ordered Taxi Driver @ $12.99 [on AMZ US]. Any news on special features, etc? It's very cheap, consideration the fact it is a highly-acclaimed and much anticipated BD release. Is there a catch to it?  hmm.gif
*
hi, i pre-order it, but seems like AMZ FRANCE has better packaging, with lots of cool artcard. do not understand why US always sucks in packing, after all TAXI DRIVER is a masterpiece.

check out the APOCALYPSE NOW AMZ UK, really cool.

just asking, anyone got The Thin Red Line? Is it good.

i'm really interested but the price so expensive.
*
Hi, it is 1 of the best war movie ever made, rated same with SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. However, it is more dialog driven with lesser action (with only 2 major action which as good as saving private) with beautiful scene & green color.

The Criterion Collection offer the demo material for Thin Red Line, a must to own for home theater., but would hv to agree is expensive. criterion collection always at above U$20.

The Thin Red Line = USD30  mad.gif

and some more only 1 disk.

u might want to wait for sales, might down around U$22. I bought lots of criterion collection during sales.

reason expensive -Criterion always restored & remastered the release by themselves. actually Thin Red Line was released by FOX, but Criterion bought the copyright.
most of the Criterion is 1 disc , but they made full use of space & the extra is always new & exclusive.
also feature booklet.
