U can check out the AMZ UK for box set, very cheap there, most big hollywood movie is free zone, wait till sales, eg. BORNE TRILOGY/ALIENQ/DIRTY HARRY BOX SET/GODFATHER/MATRIX TRI etc.

all zone free at very low $, the only weakness is the awful packing.

Thanks for the recomendation, u got good taste. Cinema Paradiso is the standard version, i would like to wait for the 3 hours extended cut. I really love the movie score, got the sound track & been enjoying for 10 yrs.
Please comment more after u watch it.

Have u seen Europe made WWII movie - DOWNFALL, KATYN, NORTH FACE, MAN OF WAR? all europe made WWII movie are very realistic.

I also recommnding German Scifi "THE CARGO" & "THE LIVES OF OTHERS", Spanish Thriller "HIERRO", "THE ORPHANAGE".



Just revisited 'THE MIST' while waiting for my "WALKING DEAD" arrive. Very good movie & BD.

blu-ray crazy? over purchased? no place to store?? addicted ka....? hahaha... now u all know!
i still remember the 'poison' that we get around here not so long ago that started all these purchases when blu-ray was rather new in the market...

luckily those days already passed for me. now only looking forward to cheap2 sales like the annual favorite - the Black Friday sales. only can afford during that period...
amazon.com used to have periodically sales like the infamous BOGO, B2G1 etc etc.... but now no more; mainly because during those time they are encouraging people to upgrade to blu-ray from dvd, but now if they do that they only put those old/unwanted back-catalog titles

ha, i remember last 2 years christmas AMZ blu-ray sales like crazy, lots of good title at $7 only. AMZ still have some interesting sales like Father days sales, Holloween Sales, Thanksgiving Sales.

AMZ US PARAMOUNT SAVING PRIVATE RYAN - is released under SAPPHIRE SERIES, one of the best Blu-ray in PIC & Sound.

Do not know UK quality but I would like to collect the "SAPPHIRE SERIES", other title included BRAVEHEART, GLADIATOR & FORREST GUMP. 1 of the best collector series.

Criterion Zone A quality is better.
however all UK & US are in 2.20 aspect ratio. the original ratio is 2.35. i think it will be rerelease in future at 2.35. (Apocalyse Now been released at 2.35)

Unfortunately, I am not much into war movies.. I do hv SPR n Band of Bros but hvnt found d time to watch it yet..

Problem wif watchin a foreign language flick is tat u need one eye on d subttls.. not tat tat is bad or anytin but u hv to be in d rite state of mind for it..
sumtimes u jus wanna movie like Jason Stathams 'transporter' series - u know 'leave ur brain at d door' type kekeke..
But I hv varied moods, so my taste is reasonably wide..

Spanish flicks I like .. Pans Labyrinth shld be d top, I guess..

Mist was such a promising movie.. but I dislike de ending.. so much so, tat I decided I wouldnt upgrd my d9.. hmmnn.. reminds me of Will Smiths 'Legend' too...
