I just got my rear passenger power window smashed, the cost for power window glass is rm55 & workmanship is rm120. This not including retinting the broken window.
I have windshield covered it goes til rm800 the insurance still have more than half year before renew so i'm wondering should i just pay for the repair or claim the insurance?
Also does the insurance cover for the tint? I have to fix the window & tint in 2 different place.
Took few hours to do the police report just so at least the police know got case happen. Ask them whether they wanna take fingerprints but they say no need coz too long not immeadiate incident, so oh well. No wonder i hear car few alarm noises for the past few nights.
The car got nothing insight inside they still wanna break. Broke the window took the stuff in the centre box & forced open the boot so now the boot cannot open from the driver side have to use key.

1st = check your windscreen insurance. If not mistaken, it only cover for the front and/or back screen (the 2 big non-moverable window), not the door's window.
2nd = standard car insurance doesnt cover tinting. Tints are normally by the tint's company instead. For example, if you go for tint and they say insured for 3-5 years, then it is insured. Your normal car insurance do not cover for tint. For this matter, it do not cover for any/all other "enhancement" you made to the car such as spoiler, In-car entertainment, and others.
3rd = should claim or not claim. Need some basic calculation. How much is your NCB now and how much are you saving from the NCB? if the saving is higher than the cost of the repair, no need to claims. If the saving from NCB is lower than repair cost, then just claim it instead.

Nope, it cover for whole car. just use name windscreen.
That insured to cover warranty not due to break-in. In-car entertainment, yes it cover but need to add premium.. standard head unit also can claim but you will lose your NCB.
NCB won't affect coz TS has been paid premium to cover it. Not worth to claim coz Insce cover still have half year (Who knows what can be happen in the future) and If U make a claim, U need to paid pro-rate premium based on Rm800 sum insured to cover another Half year before expired.

Yes claiming windshield insurance doesn't affect NCB but because it's call windshield, it doesn't cover side windows, only windshield, so in your case, it's not claimable.

Just curious do most tinting have their own insurance, mine is like 5 years warranty but in case like TS it's not part of warranty since it's broken into, will it be covered? I'm using Solarguard.
Also need police report to claim "windshield"?

Question: Does windscreen insurance cover large 'cracks' in the windscreen? My windscreen got one crack like 10 inches long. Feel like claiming cos the amount of $$ I pay for the insurance since I bought my car is more than the cost of the windscreen replacement liao. been postponing cos even if I change ... need to top up $$ to re-tint ...

But if TS claim he will loose his Windscreen insurance, TS say he still have more than 8 months til renew so within 8 months his windscreen won't be covered if he claim. So do we need police report to do this kind of claim? And my question do most tint companies cover these kind of claim? I'm using Solarguard don't know if they entertain break ins or not. QUOTE(driftmeister @ Jan 27 2011, 11:38 PM) ur windscreen premium and car insurance premium is different dude my windscreen premium is something like $50 or $60 (don't remember ... only see it once a year wahahah). Times that by 5 years = $250-$300 ... already more than cost of replacing new windscreen, no? So just wondering if windscreen insurance covers these kind of 10-inch crack also (or whether it needs to be big shatter then only can claim)

Is it ncd or ncb? Dun need police report to claim. If wind screen needs replacement b4 you renew your insurance, can still claim. Total claimable is 800 a year for your case.

Total claimable is 800 a year for your case. NCB "Non Claim Bonuse" is old term, NCD " Non Claim Discount" is new term. For windscreen claim don't need police report. What U need take some photo before and after replace with shown no plate, broken/crack location & millage as well. RM800 not a total claim a year but 1 off claim which need to reinstate back after claim made. If your cover is RM800, based on TS claim.. insurance only paid cost glass + labour charges in other word he will not get RM800. If he made claim for Front windscreen, let say cost is RM450 + labour RM200 = RM650.. He can kawtim with repairer to adjust the receipt to cost RM700 + labour RM250 = RM950.. Insce Co will paid RM800, than he can make some profit Rm150.... Normally repairer will ask you one, how much your insce cover than they know what to do already but before you answer make sure you ask him 1st how much total cost before you tell them your insce cover. If they know, got big margin you can make than they were increase the cost.... This post has been edited by Oldskolboyz: Jan 29 2011, 12:57 PM
