Glad to read that you are having some help now.
Since you are going to be in Cairo only, DIY is cheaper and shouldn't be difficult. I noticed that the tour agent's itinerary involves a few optional (extra $$), which are not that fantastic. There are more interesting places to visit in Cairo. Do visit the Great Pyramid of Giza, Cairo Museum, Khan El Khalili Bazaar, +/- the Statue of Rameses II at Memphis, and the step pyramid at Saqqara. Also, in Cairo city, +/- the Citadel of Saladin and the Alabastr Mosque. If you are staying anywhere that's near the Nile River, you may take a stroll along the river too. A guide would be useful for "story telling", but you may also read up a bit on Egytian King, and Gods. It's interesting. Note how the Egyptian park their cars -bumper to bumper, no gap in between and look at their cars, 8 if not 7 out of 10 are dented. lol This post has been edited by Ami Tsun: Mar 17 2010, 07:46 PM |

QUOTE(Serendipity123 @ Mar 15 2010, 05:47 PM) Haha. Dirty lor. surprisingly the public toilet is even cleaner than msia's.I drank even less water while I was there because I didn't want to go to the public toilets. I always wait till I reach the hotel. Hehe. But that's only me. Off work now. Happy Planning. the one i went to was in alexandra right outside the fortress. |

QUOTE(ubsacc2004 @ Mar 17 2010, 08:49 PM) I been to Egypt in 2007. Most of the places of interest toilets are clean. Should drink more water because of the desert places. Don't forget to bargain when buying things especially in the bazaar. In Egypt everthing can be bargain even bottled drinking water and newspaper. In most tourist area like Abu Simbel etc the souvenir will be more expensive. I think this is normall in all other countries also. This post has been edited by pschong: Mar 18 2010, 11:39 AM |

QUOTE(d8kd @ Mar 17 2010, 08:45 PM) surprisingly the public toilet is even cleaner than msia's. Must have been my luck then. While I was there, I didn't find a single clean toilet.the one i went to was in alexandra right outside the fortress. Or maybe it was because I did not look hard enough. I still shudder when I think of the toilets on board the sleeper train. QUOTE(pschong @ Mar 18 2010, 11:38 AM) I been to Egypt in 2007. Most of the places of interest toilets are clean. You must put your haggling skills to good use.Everyone will want to sell yo something. But I had loads of fun shopping at the bazaars. Some of them might be pushy but all in all, it's all great fun! You can even haggle your taxi fares. Make sure you agreed with the price before you get on the taxi. And must remember that when they say 'dollar' they meant USD, not EGP. Also, remember to check prices on tripadvisor forum. We paid LE150 for a Nile Dinner Cruise while there were some people who paid double that price. Make sure you know how much you should have been paying. QUOTE(d8kd @ Mar 18 2010, 11:50 AM) remember to bring sunglasses, hat and scarf to cover up your face when visiting those pyramids. TS, I hope you're not thinking about going during the summer. Might be too hot! |

Might be too hot! strolling inside made myself felt like i'm back in the era of 1001 nites. and yeah ... dont travel during summer, the weather is extremely hot, our local guide told us she even fainted during summer time. the egyptian police is not trustable. i tot since he's a police and he offered to help take a photo for me so i handed him my camera, when he returned me the camera, he asked me for some tips too. |

Hi~
I'll be going to Egypt this July. Those who are a frequent traveller to Egypt, can you all please advice on my trip there? What I need to know are these? 1. Which is the cheapest airlines (direct flight) to take? 2. Which is the cheapest yet a safe place to stay? - the city: Cairo 3. How is the surroundings? - are the food and items on sale are expensive? 4. How is the safety when sight seeing - are they any extremist / robbery / snatching? Thanks~ |

QUOTE(revolusi.tuah @ Jan 27 2011, 06:06 AM) Hi~ 1. the cheapest airlines you can get is the egypt air. it also the only direct flight from klia to cairo. If you buy it from KLIA, it will cost you around rm3200++ for economy class.I'll be going to Egypt this July. Those who are a frequent traveller to Egypt, can you all please advice on my trip there? What I need to know are these? 1. Which is the cheapest airlines (direct flight) to take? 2. Which is the cheapest yet a safe place to stay? - the city: Cairo 3. Thanks~ 2. probably the best city you can stay is Cairo and Alexandria. those two places memang cantik in Egypt. If you visit cairo, you can see the pyramids of course, and in Alexandria, you'll see a lot of nice beaches. 3. Surprisingly, the food in Egypt is cheaper ( 1 ringgit malaysia = 1.967 egyptian pounds). for example, if you want to eat at luxurious place for seafood @ western food like steak, it'll only cost you around 100 pounds but seriously, you'll never forget the taste and the quantity also banyak! 4. It is better for you if you can find our Malaysian people in here since the Egyptians cannot be trusted at all. one of their bad habits is they always like to 'pau' pelancong2. i dont know why, but sometimes the things that you can buy for 20 pounds ( like t-shirts,soveniers), they'll charge you for a hundred pounds! so beware. hope you find this helpful. |
