Hi I'm using HD661. Superb headphone I must say. Much much better sound quality than XB500.

Yup Sony XB500. And I agree in term of bass sony win. But XB500's mids and high aren't as good as HD661.

Btw how to make it more comfortable. Any suggestion?

are u suffering from the:

1) deadly clamping force?
2) the earcup is too small that it is not enuf for ur whole ears to fit into it?
3) the space in the earcup is too shallow so ur ears suffer from being pressure?

heres the basic answer:

1) try to "CAREFULLY" bend the two black long metal rod which acts as "connector/ bridge"... a little by a little tho.. hmm.gif  it wont break ONLY IF u are not over bend it...  smile.gif

3) try put some tissue "INSIDE" the pads of the earcups which we called it the "tissue mod"... it enlarge the earcups' space a little so ur ear will not suffer from being pressure... rclxms.gif  Dun wry about the earpads will comes out, it is easy to put them back..  tongue.gif

Cheers mate!!

for the number 2 problem, the solution is:

1) DIY ur own earpads with these materials:
    a) a pair of round shape sponges (preferable)/ any pair of sponge
    b) a pair of socks
    c) some cotton for increasing the softness (optional)
2) 1st take out the original earpads, save it tho~ it is the original anyway tongue.gif
3) measures the size of sponge needed and marks them down to cut them into specific size needed for ur ears...
4) cut the socks AS LONG AS POSSIBLE from to make the socks to have 2 OPEN side.. (cut the CLOSED side of the socks)
5) u MUST 1st put the socks onto the earcups of HD661 (to allow u to put in the sponges easier), and put the sponges inside socks (u can try to put a thick layer of cotton to increase the softness of ur DIY earpads) and wrap the sponges with the rest of the socks (if the socks are too long cut them BIT BY BIT... u dun wanna end up the socks are not long enuf to wrap the sponges)..
6) ENJOY UR HARDWORK!! rclxms.gif

Ok about the tissue mod, am I supposed to put the tissue inside the pad and cover the driver? Or I need to put it around the pad so that it won't block the driver. Thanks for your help btw.

jus put them to ur ears.. well try to feel them and "cut a smaller mid area of the sponge 1st".. so that u wont over cutting them.. tongue.gif

PS: if ur ear is too big/ cant find a big size sponge... easy... cut them into semi circle sponges (means u will need 4 semi circle sponges)... so the middle will be the size of ur DIY earpad~ rclxms.gif
of cos u wont wanna cover the driver~~ biggrin.gif  jus STUFF them under the pads will do ~~ rclxms.gif  as simple as that~ icon_rolleyes.gif

True because I tried covering the driver because there isn't detail instruction found on the net. But around the pad, it becomes more comfortable. Thanks for the tips man! notworthy.gif

Got my Xonar DX card today. Installed the original drivers, then the unified drivers. Enabling the Dolby features , paired with this headphone is like Magic. You could feel the immediate difference.

Connected my cheap headphones to the onboard audio on my laptop and the sound suddenly became murky. Its like switching from a TN monitor to an IPS monitor. You wouldn't really feel the difference at first, as you're getting used to it, and then when you go back to the old technology , you'd see that there is a huge difference between what you have now and what you had before.

Btw, the total "burn-in" is less than 12 hours. So i think there is a long way to go until 10 hours but at the moment, I have no complaints at all.

Edit: The more i listen with the headphones, the more I am able to distinguish between a cheap non branded one and this unit.  I would say, money well spent smile.gif

Wow there must be a big difference I guess. Nicely done dude thumbup.gif

Bass head like you should go for Sony XB500. Superb bass but you won't get the same Superlux's mids and highs.

I wish they have more comfortable pads. It's quite tiring after few hours wearing the cans.

Guys, do you have any idea what can I do to get better sound quality in my laptop other than getting a DAC/amplifier?

Can i ask, which Superlux headphone is the best?
*
Well, it depends on what type of music you listen to. More on bass or more on clarity hmm.gif

My HD661 is more on the clarity. It's good for acoustic/unplugged concert. You can hear the vocal clearly. But the bass isn't powerful enough like the other model.

I would prefer DAC, especially if you're using onboard audio.
