Upping the EV will result in slower shutter speed. This is fine for stationary subjects but if there is any movements then you will sure to get motion blur.

Sometimes you just cannot win 'em all. It's life.

i tried with flash, and higher shutter speed.. the ambient light is darken..
the space is too big to bounce the light..

that's the reason i using slow shutter and high iso..
coz my intention is to capture the surroundings..

but slow shutter blurred out moving ppl..
that's my first time in that environment btw.. alot of things to try..
and like to learn from the mistake..

8tvt: how to explain to u, u need to get a BG eV, then use flash for ur FG eV.
*
something like metering bright BG and light up front subject with flash?

i tried flash and it's turned to very warm.. it's ok for portrait though..
but i'm focusing on the wide range.. maybe i need to set the WB manually..
so most i off the flash and shoot with other settings.. to capture the surroundings..

QUOTE(albnok @ Feb 1 2011, 12:58 AM)
8tvt: Since you cannot buy any more lenses, just use the brightest lens in that focal range that you want e.g. 18mm F3.5, 28mm F2.8, 50mm F1.8, 55mm F4.0 (of 55-200mm). (Instead of using 18-55mm at 55mm F5.6).

I like the color combo of #2 but the other buildings could use some slightly more telephoto perspective.
yes using kit lens for widest range only...
which is for the last shot iso 400..

others on minolta iso800.. so can get higher fps.. surprise though noise control still ok..

Maybe u could use an orange flash gel?
*
if use orange colour gel.. won't make it more orangey?

QUOTE(ieR @ Feb 1 2011, 11:14 AM)
8tvt yeap...

for the orange photo issue, its normal, because u used such wide open aperture, huge iso, and slow shutter, the ambiance easily overwrite the flash, what u do is, gel ur flash, custom white balance it, then u get very nice 'natural' looking photo (depending on the WB level)
*
i'll take note if bump to that situation again..
maybe next time will focus on optimizing the flash..

for the current setup.. 18mm @F3.5 and F42, what are the ISO and shutter suitable for it?
so i can be more focus on flash, metering and also the WB..

@blowsh
some would advice to make the shutter speed and zoom 1:1 like that..
eg: 200mm with 1/200
unless have very steady hands..

and with longer focal length with near subject..
wide aperture will make shallow DOF.. tend to soft or OOF..

otherwise gear not focus correctly or problematic..
