That's correct! If you've already flashed 1.2.1 with the original 2.0 kernel or the 1.2.2 update successfully, there's essentially no need to flash 1.2.3. Kernel 2.0.1 is basically Kernel 2.0 with the partition checking disabled. He's re-versioned it to help solved the earlier confusion, due to many uploads and take-downs of different versions of the 2.0 kernel (that had the partition checking enabled, hence causing all the users either getting stuck at the Galaxy Tab screen or with no CWM recovery installed (they just saw the standard/stock Android Recovery (3e) mechanism) -- Basically no sexy robotic voice!! Anyway, if you're already on ROM 1.2.1 with a kernel version that's higher than frank@OVERCOME #45 (check in your system info!) you're already there! Sometimes, it happens. Sometimes, after flashing a new kernel, there may be some corruption of the battery stats, which basically reports incorrect data back to the system. You can either go into recovery and wipe your battery stats OR let your Galaxy Tab complete a few cycles (Full charge to complete discharge for say 2 or 3 times) and it should get resolved. quote=jloi,Mar 12 2011, 01:43 PM] how to upgrade the overcome latest version? need reflash d rom?
Err... it depends on what you're running on now. Here's a very good instruction set that XDA member Corodius has written, but you'll have to substitute kernel 2.0.1 for kernel 1.0 and ROM 1.2.3 for 1.2.1 But basically, assuming you're from stock/another ROM: 0. For best results -- best to do this when your tab is 100% charged, as usually some might suggest doing a battery wipe later, to clear any problems with battery-life... and let the Tab go through a full discharge cycle or two after this! 1. Just backup your data and move it to your external SD and/or your PC (just to be safe!) 2. Get the 2.0.1 kernel (best get the OC-UV TAR/ODIN version, which I'll explain why in Point 9!) & the 1.2.3 ROM from the thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932082 3. Copy the ROM to the root of BOTH your internal and external SDs (The reason is, some can see what's in the external SD but some can't -- me, I can. So this is just to be safe, as you'll delete both these files after this anyway.) 3. Fire up ODIN (if you don't have it, get it here: http://www.apksmash.com/corodius/galaxytab.zip) and flash the kernel (for detailed instructions, refer to corodius' post!) 4. Once it reboots, you should be at the Galaxy Tab bootscreen with the logos, and if successful, you'll here a "sexy robotic voice, as alterbridge86 puts it" This is where the conversion to ext4 takes place. It might take a few minutes for this to happen... mine took about 3-4 minutes. Then it'll go into the animated boot sequence... let it boot completely into ROM. 5. Boot back into recovery, and do a wipe! (Factory is usually recommended, but just do a dalvik/battery wipe as well... remember what I said in Point 0?) 6. Install the Overcome 1.2.3 ROM via install zip from sdcard... 7. Reboot, and wait a while... 8. Walla... Overcome 1.2.3 with the 2.0.1 Non-OC kernel installed! 9. OPTIONAL!! Remember why I asked you to get the OC-UV TAR/ODIN version earlier? Some like myself, don't really like to overclock (OC...in case some people still don't understand the shortform) the journey ends here. BUTTTTT..... some of you might wanna go overclocking, and this is the kernel you need to flash again! See... just saved you some time from needing to download it again in case you wanna over-clock. The ROM comes with the 2.0.1 Non-OC built in! Have fun!
thanks for the explanation i am currently in overcome 1.2.2 ..so just wanna know d way to get update to 1.2.3..is it must flash it? |

thanks for the explanation i am currently in overcome 1.2.2 ..so just wanna know d way to get update to 1.2.3..is it must flash it?
Again, like I mentioned earlier... if you're already on Overcome 1.2.2... when you check on your system information, you should be running a kernel that states frank@OVERCOME #8X or #9X --- basically any kernel with a revision number that's higher than #45... Then there's absolutely no reason to go to 1.2.3, other than wanting a higher version number! There's absolutely no reason for it. Seriously. ;-) I know for a fact that the developer's working on Overcome ROM 2.0 as we speak. Just hang in there... it should be here soon. It's in the over right now... However, if you're really insisting on having the latest ROM number... just get the Overcome 1.2.3 UPDATER (and not the full version which will wipe your system...) and just flash it via CWM. That's it.
ah thx for ur patient answering me, still kinda noob wif all this n need A-Z guide will update the new version will wipe up data? wun rite? |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Mar 31 2011, 09:10 AM) Lucky gf they already announce 8.9 will be pricing around 499$ and 599$..n i think they downgrade d 10.1 camera and change d design to thinner (same like 8.9 thickness) to reduce d priceShould buy her stuff with appreciating value not such depreciating value gadget. Added on March 31, 2011, 9:13 am Well the next one up is galaxy tab 8.9 My guts feeling samsung will cease producing the 7 in and promote the 8.9 as alternative in other mind, i feel like getting blackberry playbook, since it can port android apps XP |
