Again, like I mentioned earlier... if you're already on Overcome 1.2.2... when you check on your system information, you should be running a kernel that states frank@OVERCOME #8X or #9X --- basically any kernel with a revision number that's higher than #45...

Then there's absolutely no reason to go to 1.2.3, other than wanting a higher version number! There's absolutely no reason for it. Seriously. ;-)

I know for a fact that the developer's working on Overcome ROM 2.0 as we speak. Just hang in there... it should be here soon. It's in the over right now...

However, if you're really insisting on having the latest ROM number... just get the Overcome 1.2.3 UPDATER (and not the full version which will wipe your system...) and just flash it via CWM. That's it.

ah thx for ur patient answering me, still kinda noob wif all this n need A-Z guide biggrin.gif then i guess i'll wait for a higher version.

will update the new version will wipe up data? wun rite?

If you're talking about 2.0... I'm not sure if a wipe is needed, as it's dependent on a few basis he's testing on right now... so no guarantees.

If you're talking about 1.2.3... then if you just use the updater (since you're already on 1.2.1 and kernel 2.0) and not the full ROM, then no wipe is needed

Cheers

i checked n no running apps by task manager..but it looks better after i restart my tab..mm  hmm.gif

If it's just the standard/stock task manager provided by Samsung, it's kinda pathetic.

Try installing for Advanced Task Manager or Advanced Task Killer, and you might see what's really running on your system...

In fact, just do a check under "Setting > About Device > Battery Use" and see what it reports...

Hey guys,

The new Overcome ROM v1.4.5 and Overcome Kernel v2.1.4 is out. While the ROM is just a minor update, especially for those already on 1.4.4, it's the kernel that's fantastic. Major performance boost.

Definitely a must update for Overcome users! For those that are thinking about it, it's a great time to try out Overcome... your Tab will never feel the same again! ;-)

Hey guys,

Just a short note to inform you that the latest Overcome ROM 1.6.0 is out.

It's ZTKC1 Base (yup, Asian-based) Combined locales of Asian and Euro rom with Font picker is back in settings. It's based on Froyo 2.2.1

yeah.. count me in too..  blush.gif really really need to learn a lot.

It's alright, just follow the Installation guide in the Overcome ROM thread. I've written it with the new users in mind, taking into account all the steps you'll possibly need to get the Overcome ROM into your Tab, with the least amount of hassles in there. There's even a section on how you can back-up your important data, and restoring it once you've successfully flashed the Overcome ROM.

Albeit there's a slight errata there within the guide, as the stock-ROM package linked within the guide currently doesn't wipe the internal SD as how we'd prefer it... but for most people, it should be fine.

For the moment, I'd suggest going to 1.4.5, as there's some bugs still to be ironed out within the 1.6.0 ROM... will be testing the 1.6.1 once alterbridge, the Overcome ROM/Kernel developer finishes the translation of the locales...

If you guys face any issues, just give me a holler at the Overcome thread at XDA, though I do pop in here once in a while...

Cheers and have fun...

Didn't you follow the guide? Are you syncing your contacts with Google? That's one of the best perks of using the Android platform...

which one u download 1.6 or the 1.45? I am a bit worry.... becoz this morning it somehow bricked....

Added on April 21, 2011, 9:57 ami follow the instruction in the Overcome tips....
Dunno why it keeps failing in the Re-Stocking yer System part....
Is this part necessary? Or should i just straight skip it and flash it with the Overcome 1.6?
*
This is probably due to the fact that your Tab has locked or protected bootloaders. Refer to the link in the Overcome installation guide with regards to locked/protected bootloaders

For the moment, I'm currently testing 1.6.1. So you might want to hang on till 1.6.1 which, barring any issues, should be out tonight...

On 1.6.0 since yesterday - didn't notice any obvious bugs/issues yet
Anyway look forward to the update
*
Yup, for us Malaysian, the errors/bugs won't be that apparent, since we're using either the default English or probably Chinese, which was default in the ZTKC1.

It's the non-original locales, such as russian, etc.. that alterbridge tried to shoehorn in.. that was causing some application errors for those using those locale. 1.6.1 addresses that...

i checked my tab it is a GSM tab frm local Samsung.... so it shouldnt be bootlocked right?
*
Well, when I first got my Tab from Digi, it was bootlocked...

It's just a matter of downloading the bootloader patch apk and patching it. It's very easy. Refer to the link in the guide and download the apk. Just run it and patch... you'll probably be doing this process only once. Unless of course, you download ROMs from samfirmware again...

ok did the stock part and the overcome part..... but now the problem i meet is
it cannot go into the recovery mode. When i hold down the volume up and down + the power button.... it show me an android with saying :"POWER RESET or UNKNOWN UPLOAD MODE"

Eh wat does it mean? by the way before this i used Odin 1.7 to flash the Overcome_Kernel_v2.1.4_OCUV_ODIN.tar does it have anything to do with this outcome?
ok manage to get into recovery mode..... mine tab cannot press the Volume Up + Down + Power together..... to enter it... manage to get in by pressing the Power + Volume UP then when logo come out release the power button.
*
To get into Recovery mode, it's Volume UP + Power
To get into Download mode, it's Volume DOWN + Power

It's NEVER been Volume UP + DOWN...

lol press the wrong thing... thx in a thousand.... finally got it all done.....
first time mess with this thing... nvr thought it would be tat time consuming but really fun! THX VERY MUCH.
*
Well, the first time, it seems like it takes forever, especially when you're anxious... ;-)

As for me, well, now, after doing it soooo many times already, I can back-up my data (including about 290 3rd party apps+) re-stock, install the kernel and the ROM, and restore my data all within an hour. The time consuming part has got to be Titanium for me, restoring all those apps...

Cheers and have fun. Do take a look at the Tips & Tweaks guide there too, to help you further get the best out of your Overcome-powered Tab, including Overclocking & Undervolting...
