Yeah that's what i said, Roto repackage his rom so that it doesn't contain the protected bootloaders.

Here is what happen :

Taken from :  http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071
So what Roto did was that he took the latest rom and removed the protected bootloaders.

Hence why there should be a warning for people to not update to the latest firmware carelessly.
*
Then this will strange for the Roto ROM that i useed to flash my Bricked TAB yesterday.
I check with "SGT-Bootloader-Patch" after flashed and found my TAB contain the signed bootloader.
How possible this happen if you said Roto removed the protected bootloaders?
That's why i asked the bootloader is integrated with ROM or it come with TAB.
If integrated with ROM, i should found unsigned bootloader in the Roto ROM, right?

Accessories are just USB cable, charger, wired headset and a small guide booklet
Plenty of cases you can find in most pda shops - if you are in KL, just go over to LowYat or PJ Digital Mall, Summit, Subang Parade

Or you can buy online from forum lowyat : just google for it at either http://forum.lowyat.net/MobilePhonesandRelatedAccessories or http://forum.lowyat.net/Notebooks&PDAs

Added on January 27, 2011, 6:16 pmklwong99: I just tested mine with Chainfire patch and these are my results:

Bootloaders : You are safe
Signed none
Not signed Pbl, Sbl, Sbl_backup, Kernel
Assessment : can flash anything

So probably your Tab's original rom is signed-protected while mine is not ( which is from Europe)
*
This is the result after Chainfire patch, is mean Roto JME v4 rom is still sign bootloaders?
I attempt want to run the patch, but still doubtful. Hopefully it won't spoil the TAB motherboard.
If so, my TAB will really brick and unable to recover back. Finger cross....

I just upgraded /change my kernel to ModacoR3 which is a ext4 based system. Thereafter I upgraded my rom to Modaco b1 release ( based on firmware JMF) . The ext4 is much better than Samsung's proprietary RFS system. I recorded a vastly improved Quadrant reading of 1781 compared to 1025 previously. Though these figures do not really much but it shows the computing performance has improved. The TAB is now more responsive. Google Nexus S and all subsequent products will be based on EXT4 file system

Those interested can read the details about it in my blog

[attachmentid=2018641]
*
What a good result and smooth TAB you have there! May i know, could i flash my TAB with ModacoR3 kernel then Modaco b1 with sign bootloaders?

This is my results WITHOUT any patch. As you can see My roto JME as you can see is unsigned. Reading the  the posts by users, I think it is safe to run the patch.
*
I still don't understand although i flashed the Roto ROM (same as you), why my TAB still with sign bootloaders?
Does the bootloaders still attached with the stock ROM?

in a quick tutorial by ianandamy - xdadevelopers, he used addon-jme-modem and addon-jme-hidden..but in ur tutorial u didnt use it..
which one do i need to follow?
*
Just ignore or make blank of PHONE & SCS column. You will be safe to flash just with PIT and PDA and select 'Re-partition'.

how much is the 16gb?? class 6 type?
*
if class 4, market price now around RM90-RM100
I only able to find class 6 and class 10 in Kingmax brand. The price quite high, around RM120 for class 6 and RM160 for class 10.

I am using a DNA 16GB Class 10 on the TAB. A Sandisk 16GB Class 6 on my HD2 and a Team 16 GB Class 6 on my Dell Streak.
I'd suggest at least a class 6 card for the TAB. No point you save average RM 50 only on a class 4

Added on January 28, 2011, 2:19 pm

Very tempting and irresistible ! And so easy to flash . Just need to do it from Clockwork Recovery on TAB itself. But your TAB file system must be in EXT4 format not the default RFS format
*
So fast tried for it already? How the performance so far? Recommended to flash for this?

The best way is only to use Odin or Heimndall to flash - you need to have the stock rom files

Titanium only restore your restore your apps/data etc - if you have change rom, the rom remains ; TB from your original rom will not overwrite your new rom

So if you have such intention, please make sure you have a copy of your original rom before you flash

Added on January 29, 2011, 12:36 pm
In just over the last 2 days, there are already few roms options available - Modaco, Roto, Galaxyer, Overcome plus 3 kernel upgrades and a beta Gingerbread based rom. Development work on the roms is indeed picking up. Just only yesterday I tested three of them
*
How the performance of Titatium Backup? Is it advisable to install .apk file without use the old data from previous ROM?
What're the outcomes so far from your testing?

Thanks..just rooted with superclick one..I tried to falsh to EXT4 kernel but failed. When i was checkinh the Bootloader patch it says SIGNED Kernel. Does this means i can't flash to EXT4 is there a way around this???
*
I would just say unlock the Boatloader before you falsh any Kernel or ROM, unless you very sure those Kernel or ROM don't contain and won't install protected bootloaders either.
This is the important step you need to take into consideration after rooting.

That's not 'jailbreak' for android but 'rooting'. Jailbreak is the term for apple.

As you said Kernel still signed, of course while you flash with custom kernel will couse problem.
For safety, just apply the patch or unsigned the Bootloader. Then you able flash with any ROM or Kernel as you like.

I have yet to try Roto JMG. Just read about it. However Roto JME is very well known and is a lifesaver rom for many who "brick" their TAB during kernel or rom flashing. Roto rom doesn't comes with protected or will it install any protected bootloaders
Most reviews on his rom is positive. I have yet to find any serious bugs with his JME.

But one must know and accept there is no perfect rom including the official ones. Different rom cooks offer different flavor. It is up to the user to test himself to assess which of these alternative roms suits his needs better.

Each of us uses his TAB differently. Some wants the TAB to be a great gaming machine but for me is totally unimportant - if it cannot play games is fine. Some wants a great browser, email features while some thinks this is of secondary importance. Always remember , there will always be a better rom just round the corner and coming out the next day once you have install one. See your needs, read the users comments on the roms you are interested in and decide. Anyway flashing rom is not difficult, can always experiment to find which is best for you
*
Just flash with Overcome 1.0.2, everything seem smooth and like the custom animation, at least something difference with stock.
I don't use weather widgets, think this won't effect me.
BTW, have you try [1.2ghz OC/UV] Kernel?
What your experince if compare with MoDaCo r3 Kernel?
Found MoDaCo r3 Kernel occur little screen distortion while booting.

Overclock kernel at 1.2 GHz :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=924654

Those of you are interested to upgrade this kernel, be warned that flashing this can format off your internal SD card. I read through all the postings and this problem seems to affect only some users. The developer still unable to trace what is causing it. Anyway I just couldn't resist trying it and my TAB during the flash process freeze. However switching it back on, it reset normally. Then I see the message on notification bar - missing internal SD card. Using a file explorer I couldn't locate the internal SD card and naturally cannot locate also the external micro SD card. However all the apps are still in the TAB and as long as the apps do not utilize any data kept on the internal SD card , it can still work. So basically, the internal SD card was formatted. I tried again , same result

So in order to get back my internal SD card formatted, I went into recovery mode and attempt to format it but unsuccessful

Last resort, I put the TAB into download mode and reflash Rotohammer JME ( with repartition and PIT ) just to revive it. Thereafter I followup by changing the filesystem to EXT4 using Modaco R3. Then I upgraded to Rotohammer latest JMG firmware

My TAB has now the best of both worlds : Modaco R3 EXT4 kernel and Rotohammer's excellent rom ( latest based on firmware JMG). Must say an excellent combination and haven't notice any bugs yet after a day usage. A pity I couldn't overclock it to 1.2 GHz

Modaco R3 kernel :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925760

Rotohammer JMG firmware :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=934887

Good tried and nice share with all TAB fans here rclxms.gif . Luckily you become the 'test rat' for this Kernel. If change to me, will be another nightmare to me after my TAB was Bricked last week. I haven't tried Rotohammer JMG but very statisfy with the Overcome v1.0.3 ROM. This ROM provide more features that we can't found in the stock ROM. What's additional features that Roto ROM provide beside stability?

I was unable to duplicate your problem. Maybe is rom related issue. Anyway I am on cook rom - tested on both Modaco beta4 and Overcome 1.03 on Modaco's R3 kernel. Camera function and camcorder is I'd say perfect
*
Same here, quite satisfy Overcome 1.0.3 at the moment and camera seem funtion well.
FYI, Overcome 1.0.4 and Roto JMI already out. Wow, JMI already. Really fast. rclxms.gif

@Benny, as you tried the [Kernel] [EURO] [1.2ghz OC/UV] RFS + EXT4 last time, what version did you used to flash? V6 or V7?
I also read through the thread and found most the forumers encoutered formatted their SD card was using Roto ROM. Even Rotohammer himself tried and same problem happened. Strange rite?
V7 seem not officially release but some already tried and found not problem after flashed.
