TobbyChan, thank you so much for your feedback. May I know where you bought Critical Care? I went to Petsmore but they didn't have it.

So far, the lighter coloured guinea pig is doing well. It's still drinking only 1.4ml of milk but I saw it eating the pellets (which its darker coloured sibling is not). Not sure if it's pooping yet.

Did your baby guinea pigs poop on the spot when you wiped it? Mine doesn't seem to be doing so.
*
try to go to pet lover centre.. last time i been there... i saw milk replacement for dog... it should be ok to be fed to gp as well..evaporated milk should be ok kot... but not sure not the cow milk thinggy... unsure.gif .. keep the milk warm at about 40 c or higher 45 c like tat...then only fed... tat should induce them... sweat.gif .. gp body heat is higher that human...

erm...so do i use vinegar? or revolution? i dont understand...if i leave it there wht would happen ya?
*
vinegar slow way.. it might take up to 3 month and u must maintain the cleanliness of the cage and ur hay must be from a good source.. most of the time the mites came from the hay.. revolution would usually take 1 month which is about 4 application (once a week) then the black dot should be all gone by then... any way both way is do able... vinegar u can continue to use when u bath and clean ur guinea pig and its cage

OMG, my Piggies got the hair mites too. When I Close see it the mites were moving up and down. Yucks.. I used the guinea pig shampoo to shower them with warmth water... then rub their fur. After finishing showered, I then let them ran around. Finally I put some baby powder for them and guess what ? they look happy. I did use vinegar with towel to clean around the cage, changed new bedding. Hope this fine after what I've done so far to get rid of the mites.
*
it wont go away immediately.. but slowly it will ... jus take care of its surrounding..

Alright  laugh.gif I will pay extra attention on them for now on until the mites go away completely. Anymore advices you can give us to pay attention on our piggies? notworthy.gif
*
u mean carewise.. ur piggies tame d? i found out 1 thing lor.. if ur piggies is kept at a enclosed cage, they are a bit timid, they are scare of people 1... the moment they c hand come.. cabut lari lintang pukang... but if u have a open cage system, they are more brave, curious, and friendly...hand come sit still let u touch...

food wise, jus maintain high vitamin c vege, my piggies staple food is, carrot, capsicum(red, green, yellow) , baby tomato, occasionally, green apple and banana..then the regular timothy pellet and hay lor.. i feed them twice a day only

toilet training wise... nightmare if u have many in a cage, 1 may have been train , the other will litter everywhere then the trained 1 also will litter every where... my way is a bit cruel... i totally cut down their water intake.. their water is totally from vege and fruits they takes only...at nights i let them have their bottle for half an hour b4 i take it away from them.. if not.. the cage gonna be so wet.. as they love to play water bottle.. drink it and pee doh.gif .. laugh.gif

care wise, if u have long hair, u either trim it or care for it (comb, wash, comb) sweat.gif .. revolution and advantage medicine is a must have all the time to keep mites and lice at bay...apply once a week to prevent mites and lice.. as i found sometimes these mites might be coming from ur hay also...

btw is revolution / advantage topical or ingested? and  what's the dosage? My new piglet has fur mites =.=
*
topical, only buy the one for cats only.
user posted image
ur pigs weight in kg / 10 = dosage in ml
example xxx piggy is 300g
0.3 /10 = 0.03ml of revolution on the the skin on the shoulder bone..done.. normally 2 to 3 application should do the job.. wait 2-3 week b4 each re-application

soli for my previous post: is advocate not advantage for cats... get the one for less than 4kg one...
user posted image packaging about similar to this..
dosage is 1 drops each application.

I just bought mine at daiso ioi mall puchong new wing..2nd floor, rm5 each

Added on April 27, 2012, 5:15 pmI am kinda noob to gps, just bought mine last month..seriously i hate some pet store operator, the one i bought my GP from gave me piggy with skin fungal disease. I only notice the bald spot after 1 week.

So long story short, im stuck with the piggy since it's already a week after i bought it. But the vet there suggested me to apply himalaya canisep cream. To my horror, it became worst sad.gif it leaves white residue n the bald spot became much bigger. I search high and low for a solution.

Then 1 day i stumbled upon 1 blog. The blog owner suggested to gv my piggy a bath with warm water and with Margo Neem Soap.

Again, i search high n low for it. Giant, carrefour, guardians, watsons, mydin..u name it but to my suprise i found it in KK supermart near my place. Haiyoh!

So i bath messy once every 2-3 days n im glad to say it work well! No kidding. But there's a voice at the back of my head that are still unsure abt this treatment regime. It solve 1 problem but my messy might end up with another problem. :s

So what say u guys?
*
read my post in a few page back... go to a proper vet.. get the vet to give u revolution or advocate... ask the vet to teach u how to apply... if they also dont know... read back my post... the bald part will grow back with time... give ur piggy a vinegar bath once a week

xavi : more than 2 years sad.gif no exact years since when I got him he already around 4-5 month..He was from pet shop then my friend give it to me because he cant handle him anymore. super sad..and now Luffy is alone in his area. not sure yet if I want to neuter him so he can have a good life with Toffy and Minie. I realize he didnt eat much but there is no sudden weight lost that i noticed and he actually eat well.  sad.gif

My cage setup before Totty died. Now I am thinking of neutering Luffy and let all of them in one cage. Maybe make a double bed with ramp goes up and down. But not sure neuter him is the best solution or not. unsure.gif

*
omai.. so big ah u make to home for them... lol.. i guess there is no need for the neuter.. jus maintain the separation... the male and female bonding once a while during makan or floor time... thumbup.gif

No one taught me but referred to website. No wet chin. He just lost appetite, not eating and always grinding his teeth... I think his teeth overgrown...
*
how old? unlikely for overgrown teeth if u feed them enough hay and pellet... pet store unlikely so sell older than 3 month up punya piggies also... usually those which die are due to infection, manges mites, stress...

Hows your choco? long time didnt see her..hehe  brows.gif
I never heard/give any of my guinea pig glucose water. Normal water will do them ok so far. I feed vitamin C before then I stop because I give them high Vit C veges after that. Maybe your guinea pig got overgrown teeth? you need to check because sometimes this can be the problem. Any symptom before he died? Wet chin? not active? not eating? stay at one corner?
*
itu choco ah.. still recovering from her recent manges mites sad.gif .... 1 month application of advocate liao.. hair growing back... sweat.gif
