Dear all,

My wife last month period was started on 25 Dec 2010. She has a regular period cycle which is 28 days.

when i checked ovulation calendar on the website....babyhopes.com, it stated that if there is no period on 24 Jan 2011, probably wife will pregnant.

Last week, Friday, i bought a pregnancy test kit, result was negative.

For those experiences mother,husband or mother and father to be, can you advise what is the next step? see doctor? or use pregnancy to do retest?

The probability of stress not significant i believed.

Go to doctor will be best option? or shall i wait for a few days more?

go doctor to do the same urine test and pay more?

just wait few more days and do a re-test... its normal not to detect anything at early stages

I strongly suggest early morning test, as the bhcg concentration in the urine will be most.

myself have 28 days cycle too (giving plus minus 1-2days), and i agree to have morning urine test better.

if she has been late more than 4 days which she hasnt had before, the chances is very high unless she is on any medication lately or stress?

My menstrual was late more than 2 days and i started to get urine test but normally it's suggested to get it tested on or after 10 late days.

Is she having any symptom like breast pain or etc? No need to go to the doctor yet cos they will give her urine test too and charge her for the ultrasound.

don't be impatient...it only adds to the stress

it is better if you wait for 1.5 months past the previous cycle to check, but anyways for better result go :

1) doctor ...

2) try other brand of pregnancy test kit

few more days.

@ijnek - yeah..will wait for few more days till this coming Fiday.

@wlcling & lawsh - will get other brand test kits this weekend, see how the result.

Too fast... 5th or 6th week would be much clearer...

Better to do the pregnancy test about 1 or 2 weeks after the expected period to come. Which would be around the 5th or 6th week of pregnancy.

Do it in the morning like the others mention.

If still negative, then period might be delayed due to stress or other things.
If positive then congrats! Find a good gynae and prepare to be a father!

p/s: Yes, certain medications might affect our body hormones, which would cause delayed/advanced period sometimes.

Her period suppose (28 days cycle) should come on 21 Jan 2011, but now is 26 Jan 2011, 5 days delay already.

i dont think antibiotic makes her period late, better wait till 10th day only test.

Don't buy the cheap testers. I heard it wont be as accurate.

it will never be exactly 28 days each month; unless it has been consistently 28 days each month for all these while

everyone has different cycle

for instance, A's period came on 25th dec, her next period could be exactly 25th jan - never an accurate 28 days - it is not scientific

Did you and your wife had too much sexual intercourse? Might be the hormone change.

Try clear blue brand...it's more expensive but well known for its accuracy and sensitivity.

sometime the pregnancy tester will not be accurate if you test it too early, meaning if your wife only miss the period for only few days, and she is pregnant, the pregnancy tester might not give you a +positive, just wait for few more days, if she still has not get the period then only you test it again, as far as I know, if she misses the period for long enough(like 2 weeks time), the pregnancy tester result is quite reliable, because if you go to doctor now also the doctor will use pregnancy tester to test, they can't use the whatever ultrasound machines due to the the embryo is too small to be seen using the machine.
