I know this is not about who is who, but I have the urge to drop my comment just to get the fact straight here - as I think both of you are talking about the different sons.

I've never been a fan of the whole "honorary beret" they keep bestowing to VIPs. If you want it, go through the course and earn it.

I've read recently that the Sultan Johor's son was bestowed the beret because he participated and passed the Special Forces Specialist course. That's fine, but he clearly did not go through the commando selection process, where most candidates will drop out.

The selection process is vital because it separates the wannabe wankers from the ones who really, really want the honor of wearing the green beret. It's what makes a commando, well, a commando.

The recent one who passed the Special Forces Specialist course is the fifth son - Tunku Abdul Rahman.

I don't know about the son much, but he was trained in India Calvary Division,
Johore Sultanate is the cheif of the Commando, so maybe that make the crown prince eligible to wear the green beret.

The current Sultan of Johore is train with the US navy, but I'm not sure if he is Navy Seal trained like his late father the previous Sultan of Johore, he then trained with the Ranger Air Borne in Fayetteville North Carolina

The one serving as a Captain in Indian Army is the first son, Crown Prince - Tunku Ismail.

And the current Sultan of Johore, Sultan Ibrahim - yes, he received military training in Fort Benning and Fort Bragg. Like his late father, Sultan Iskandar? I am not sure of that - think not.

By the way, regarding whether the prince go through the selection process like others or not - could only be confirmed by those who slide him in - well if that's the case.

haha.. dunno.. so far on mudah hv a few PPA medal on sale be4. but... unlike others country where there is military surplus store or militaria collector store where they do sell old medals which are genuine ones. unfortunately Malaysia have Al-Maunah Case which make the sales of local military insignia tightly regulated, this is wat I heard from some old-timer veteran tat i met in a coin and stamps collector store...
