And p/s: youve an ipad right xa[V]ier? iCab mobile is even better in an ipad.(it's a universal app, so u dont need to pay twice). Trumps Safari in everything.

I don't surf a lot, just on a need-to basis on the small iPhone4 screen. Therefore I stick with default Safari. Serve me fine 100% so far.

ooopps. i saw u posting in an ipad thread, so i assumed wrongly.

anyway, on the top of my head - 2 things opera can do better than safari are:

1. open in a new BACKGROUND tab/page, so it won't interrupt the current tab/page that you're browsing.
2. i don't quite know how to explain this, but when u surf in opera, let's say you're browsing LYN right, you go to AppleByte. In the same tab, you clink a link to read a thread. after that, you click the back/previous tab - and the previously loaded AppleByte page will be there. In safari, or other mobile browsers - it'll re-load the page and you've gotta wait for a few seconds for it to load the same page that it has loaded just seconds before.

There're obviously loads more benefits, but i think these 2 are awesome on their own.

For iPhone4

1. Safari - press and hold the weblink, then pop-out, press New page. But limited to 8 pages.

2. Yes, safari back button = reload, waste bandwidth. So normally if I open sub-webpage, I use #1 method.

Hi all, what is the best app to view text, excel, pdf files (if possible with edit feature)? And most important is able to transfer file easily from PC to phone and vice versa... I'm using fileapp free version, and diskaid expired so cant transfer file to folders in my phone or take them out sad.gif

You've misunderstood me. I specifically stated that Opera Mini will open the new tabs in the BACKGROUND if u want.

Unless Mobile Safari has changed the way they handle "Open in New Tab" since the last time ive used it, it'll be loaded in a FOREGROUND tab.

And @shinichi - there's hardly any good free versions for the kind of apps you're trying to search. It' good to invest in apps biggrin.gif

I would recommend IF you just want to view but NOT edit office doc. Either go for GoodReader or Readdledocs. Both perform very well and i personally like the latter more due to interface , the way it handle PDF file and more cloud storage services compare to the first. However both are top apps you can get for doc viewer and each has different pros and cons. You wont go wrong with those two.

http://alternativeto.net/software/diskaid/?platform=windows <<< refer here to alternative for diskaid

personally i have use PHONE DISK, but sometimes it work sometimes it doesn't work, browse iphone ok but if want to cut/paste files seem to be problem, where I get errors

mostly use WINSCP + jailbroken iphone so can just use ssh to acces iphone, if you have jailbroken your iphone you also can use iFIle to browse the inner folders of your iphone, no need computer

but most app nowadays u can just upload and view files associated to the app using itunes, just scroll down in the app tabs in itunes and you can see the app and corresponding windows to upload/view files
