We just launched our mobile tracking app "secQ.me" in Android Market
secQ.me is a new way of protecting individual (especially for woman and children) by ofter them a "virtual" guardian angel that watch over them, should they being force in any unwanted situation, or in emergency, our service will automatically notify user's friend and family via email and SMS. User's friend and family could also track their latest location, voice message, picture (if user has taken any picture) from our portal.

We like to invite Lowyat members to try out our app, go to Android Market, and search "secq.me", and download

Here's are the steps to activate and use our services
1) Register your account from the Android App or our Portal at http://secq.me
2) An activation email will send to your email account, click the activation link
3) Once activated, login to our portal, and configure your emergency contacts, and your SNS (Facebook & Twitter) setting
4) Verify secQ.me Android app by key in your email and your register event pin
5) Start using the services

BTW, all new sign up account will have 10 sms credits, which is use for notification purpose..

A quick note:

At this moment, the SMS notification is only limited to Malaysia Number, we are currently working with a international SMS Gateway provider to support SMS notification to most of countries, pls be patient a bit..

Yes, as the event information is register to the server, and each event with end time..
Let me give u a scenario
1) You working late, and u decided to take a Taxi Home
2) U launch our app, register the event,
- Record voice message, typing text message "Taking Taxi home, Taxi number WED1234", or event take picture of the Taxi Driver,
- Enter estimated event duration, for example, you estimate you will reached home in 30 minutes
3) The event is then register a our server, and secQ.me will start reporting your location to our server every 1 minute (This is to save the battery)
4) When the event about to expire, the secQ.me will remind you to confirm your safety with us, if you fail to do so, our server will automatically notify your emergency contacts (sms and email), and update your Facebook and Twitter status.
5) Your friend will then able to track you from our portal, they able to listen to your voice message, and see the picture taken, if require they could download those media files and report to police, if emergency do occur.

Thus if you force turn off the phone, as long as our server didn't receive confirm safety from you at the event end time, it will trigger notification automatically.


To further enhance this, we are currently working to roll out the following features:
a) Event heart beat , as the secQ.me is constantly reporting user's location to our server every 1 minute, user could configure the heart beat duration to our server said, every 3 minutes, i.e if server didn't receive any location update from you for last 3 minutes, it assume that you are in danger, and will trigger notification.

Thus during the register event, if user being force to turn off their phone, our server still able to notify user's emergency contact

b) Shake the phone to trigger emergency - During the register event, user could shake the phone to trigger emergency..

We are currently developing our app for iPhone, there is no plan for Windows mobile yet, till there is much demands

Added on February 2, 2011, 4:35 pmJust a quick update, secQ.me could now send SMS notification to most of countries.

So if your love one is at oversea, and you want them to get notify immediately when you are inemergency, or danger. You could do so by login to our portal at secQ.me Portal, and configure your emergency contacts accordingly..

On the other hand, if your love one is at oversee (for example, if you have daughter study at UK,USA, or other countries) and you wants to notify via SMS the moment they are in danger, you could ask your love one to download our app from Android Market, and configure you as their emergency contact.

2) The android market download rate is not up to our expectation, does anyone knows how to boost the download rate?

Nope, this app does not require both parties to have this application to make the notification works.

When user subscribe our service, user could login to our portal at http://secq.me to configure emergency contacts by entering their name, their email address, and their mobile number, in the event user are in emergency/danger situation, or fail to confirm their safety with us on pre-register event, user's emergency contact will get notify via email and SMS.

More over, our user could also link their Facebook or Twitter account with us, doing so allows secQ.me to post a status update to your FB/TW, in hoping more of your FB/TW friend will able to help you, should you in any danger situation. Please note that we respect user privacy, and we only notify to user FB/TW only if user allows us to do so, and user could turn on and off notification easily at our portal.

User's emergency contacts, and FB/TW friend will able track user's location location, event detail (voice message or any picture taken) from our tracking page.

We have come a short comic on typical usage of our service at our portal, visit our portal at http://secQ.me, and click the little lady icon (Ms Cindy) for a short slide show..

Anywhere, a quick update on secQ.me android app..

We just uploaded secQ.me v 1.2 to Google Android Market, here are some changes
1. Fixed Camera Bugs when taking picture in Portrait mode with Android 2.2 (aka Froyo) phone.
2. Added Auto-Focus function when taking picture
3. Added secQ.me service still running reminder, the secQ.me app wil remind user the tracking service still running at 60 minutes (if user forgot to confirm or end the register event with us);
4. Improvement on tracking service to preserve phone battery
5. Some other bugs fixes

If you have downloaded our app, please do an update.
If you haven't try our app, please give it a try..
