beside u olso cannot check the oil

ooo. but normally i straight switch to reverse there will be sound, but if i switch to 1st gear then reverse it will smooth. probably d fluid prob?

when reverse it common all proton will have sound........

better you change the gear oil and make calculation of mileage....every 20k km you change.......




edit:from postmortem......the culpurit is driveshaft...it bengok and hit stabilizer satay bush......luckily not start trip to johor........maybe today or tmr got loan and go repair.......wanna change gear oil also....

done change both driveshaft thumbup.gif ........that many thing need to change that involve all front suspension.......from absorber mounting until lower arm.......

Nope, it is not a common thing for all Proton GBs. There are a few possibilities if your reverse gear makes a "grinding" noise while engaging.

1~ Synchro worn out. It is made from Brass material and its a wear and tear parts.
2~ Clutch not properly disengage (check clutch adjustment and the clutch set for worn out symptoms)
3~ Final drive sub is not fully in halt will cause the "grinding" sound when engaging into reverse (depress the clutch fully and wait for and interval of 1/1.5secs b4 engaging into reverse)

Unless you are referring to the "whining" sound while reversing ofcuz la most manual transmissions have dat due to the extra gear. nod.gif

Hi everyone..I'm driving a 2004 Saga LMST.. There are alot of problem with my car..
My engine is not stable when idling..always jump from 0.6k to 1k..very annoying, the engine is shaking and it is not pleasant to drive..just change to a new 2nd hand carb..the problem still persist..my mechanic said 1-3 of the valve is spoilt..need to change it..how much will it cost? Is there any solution, can i use dcarbon insted?

One more thing, sometimes it is hard for me to engage to 1st gear..is it because of my synchro has worn out? How much will it cost to change the synchro?

no la bro,cause i noe if wan maintain good back pressure the piping need to be 1.75" but how about the tip there?is it have to be 2" or below?

mine manual choke only got no.2 so no.1 must be for autochoke idle setting
in what condition u set ????
if want set autochoke must the choke engage then only can adjust

top overhaul can be bone below 800
whats ur milage ?????
ada tukar spark plug and the cabel ah ????
mine olso previous rpm at idle shake around 900 to 1k
change both no no more d

hard engage gear ah ????
call ur forman to adjust and check 1st the gear linkage see how
mine that day mine also hard to engage gear in every gear
so open up and check around turn out 1 of the gearshift lever bush pecah d so got freeplay and hard to engage lo
still not yet change doh.gif

the reverse gear got whining is due to the reverse gear are straight cut rather than slanted cut
but straight cut are noisier and slanted cut are quiter but cost more to produce
so in end forward gear use slanted cut and reverse use straight cut for cost saving
thats why those dtm,wrc,gt car got whining sound icon_rolleyes.gif

Not all Proton's GB reverse gear are straight cuts. Most of them are still helical cut. Only the older GB like from the 4G13 8v Orion uses a straight cut reverse gear and a vacuum synchro to engage.
