Hi all sifus,
I saw this yamaha receiver Rx-v367 selling for 1190 in Harvey Norman. Is this price ok? How about its performance? Any other suggestion beside this for a receiver below rm 1.2k ?

Hmm,
After some survey, I found out the price from Harvey Norman is a bit overprice, some more the salesman "tipu" me and said this is a special price. Others are selling at RM990 only. I saw another model, Onkyo TX SR507 at RM1299, I believe this has DTS-HD, what you guys think? QUOTE minimize Posted Today, 07:08 PM This model does't support HD audio like DTS-HD or TrueHD |

QUOTE(dariofoo @ Jan 20 2011, 11:25 PM) Dunno who is the salesman, don't bother to remember his name RX-V467, what is the price? BTW, I am a total noob in this audio thingy, in fact I am using a very old speakers and I don't even know what is the brand ( since this is given for free from my uncle). The speaker contain no brand, the only tag I can find is "Sound Innovation" in front of each speaker ( I doubt this is even a brand, right?) and a sticker behind the speaker written the model as Model: LS -300 ( 10' Double woofer 3 ways speaker) Frequency response: 35hz to 20Khz Sensitivity : 90 db/1w/1M Maximun Power Handling: 300 Watts ( Rms) Impedance: 8 Ohm Serial No: 3005879 Design & engineering in USA Anyone have any idea what is this model? Is this a good speaker? If this speaker is not up to today's standard, perhaps it is high time to change the speakers as well. |

If is sounded good, then it is good. Don't bother too much with what others may say or what you read in reviews. |

Hmm, it is not I have anything against old stuff, but just that I am interested to know if the speaker spec given is good enough for today's tech and what is the brand, cause there are no brand written in the Speaker, only the model no# is given and my Uncle already pass away, so I am unable to find out more from him. Hope some of you able to point out my speaker brand or if the spec is ok. |

QUOTE(xaxier83 @ Jan 21 2011, 02:22 PM) Thanks for the answer!! Depends on what sort of equipment. For stuff like decoder, then obviously an old one will not be able to decode newer things like DTS-MA etc. But for stuff like speaker or even CD player whereby technology remains basically unchanged, then it could be different. Or in the case of recording medium, purist and those seeking the highest quality would even go back to those vinyl turntable. And for amplifier, the sound of a valve amplifier often beat the crap out of solid state amplifier when it comes to seductive vocal reproduction. From what I know, this new model rxv367 already have a lot of improvement from rxv365 version. Previous version don't support video over HDMI and only have 3 HDMI port
