QUOTE(winner @ Feb 9 2011, 10:25 AM)
GOSH DARNIT!!! I am supposed to get the full RM150 cash back for spending in December 2010 but I only noticed RM80 deposited into my Amex account. I did a thorough calculation just now and got the answer. My spending from 6-12-10 onwards DID NOT EARN any cash back. That means the total payout of RM1mil for December had finished on 6-12-10 or earlier, but MBB only announced it end-December. What the hell!

This month, I am not going to use my Amex Gold cc in the participating shopping malls again. I am gonna cut it soon after the 15% cash back promotion ends.
*
Very likely that you would be able to dispute.

I only started spending on 11 December 2010 (as I was overseas in early December 2010) at the participating malls and did receive cashback of RM45.56 for December 2010 spending (credited on 8.2.2011 according to M2U). Will have to do a calculation later to determine whether I received the fullest possible cashback amount and estimate the cutoff point. Based on cashback amount, last cashback according to my calculations (45.56/15 x 100 to obtain spend amount entitled to cashback) was for transaction on 17.12.2010. My next transaction at participating malls after 17.12.2010 was on 24.12.2010.

Therefore, cut-off point should be sometime between 17.12.2010 and 24.12.2010.

So Gen-X was wise to delay the massage chair purchase?

you guys having Maybankard 2 should swipe both Amex and Visa and then you can compared the conversion rates to see the difference.
*
In Taiwan now...contemplating which card to swipe substantial transaction with, MBBKard 2 Amex or Visa. Miles, please advise as you are the guru with most recent foreign CC transactions there. Thanks

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Mar 3 2011, 11:57 PM)
You are absolutely correct for M2Amex on weekend if you have not reached the cap of RM50

but for the M2Amex vs M2Visa, so far all reporting for Amex only and we yet to see a actual comparison between the two done on the same place and time. Once we see that, we can then consider the 5X and 1X to work out which give more return. It may just end up the same because 5X =2.5% and 1X =0.5%.
*
Now chickening out from using MBB2Kard Amex for transactions more than RM1,000.00 NT$ equivalent, especially on non-weekend and also considering that for Amex, transaction is converted to US$ 1st and reconverted thereafter to RM. MBB does not post the NT$ exchange rate online save for currency notes. So far, have only used MBB2Kard Visa as you can get additional gift from Visa at Sogo Taipei. Will try to do lower value transactions with MBB2Kard2 Amex and Visa as well as DAMC at approximately same transaction times for forumer's benefit.

QUOTE(winner @ Mar 14 2011, 04:19 PM)
As of today, I have not received the 15% cash back for January yet.

As for the dispute on the 15% cash back for December, Amex has replied via email that the cash back that Amex owes me will be credited into my account before the next statement date.
*
For reference purposes, I received my full RM150.00 cashback for January 2011 on 2/3/2011. December 2010 cashback received on 8/2/2011.

My February 2011 spending at the participating shopping malls was however split between my AMEX Gold CC (now in cold storage) and Maybankard 2 Amex (registered via SMS immediately upon receipt) - not sure how they will credit it. Thank God I have not had issues so far.

etiqa took months to send out the policy sweat.gif
so best is to call etiqa on weekend and pay using M2 Amex, then you'll get 10% + 5% thumbup.gif
*
Motor insurance due soon and now contemplating switching to Etiqa for the extra 5% (on top of the 5x TP) through MBBKard 2 Amex, on top of the 10% rebate we enjoy for purchasing directly from the insurance companies. Anybody with AIA/Chartis motor insurance experience since it has been reported here that some of AIA's branches (eg Menara Axis) do accept AMEX, in particular the Jalan Ampang HQ?

Currently on AXA-Affin Smart Drive, as Additional Drivers Cover (Extends insurance coverage to additional named drivers) is complimentary. There is also no loading/no excess currently for motor cars less than 10 years old too provided that the insured value is less than RM150,000.00, according to their product brochure. Perfect for my situation except they only accept Visa or MasterCard and not AMEX sad.gif

Anyway, I do have DAMC and may just use it instead of AMEX to take the 10-months 0% installment offer for insurance payments in the event switching to Etiqa/AIA is not worth the trouble. happy.gif

Correct me if I am wrong, so paying car insurance thru Etiqa:
1. Call Oneline 1300 13 8888 on Saturday entitles you 10% discount and they accepts MBB2Amex and gives 5% rebate.
2. Motortakaful -online (open 7/24) entitles you 10% discount but they dont accept MBB2Amex
3. Branch office (open Mon-Fri) no 10% discount but they accepts MBB2Amex.
Has anyone tried option 1 and get the 5% rebate? Read somewhere that the transaction might be regarded as Monday's transaction.
*
So long you purchase directly from the insurance company, you will enjoy the 10% premium rebate. See BNM's press statement dated 19/6/2009 and entitled "Premium Rebates for Purchasing Insurance Covers Directly from Insurers" here.
I got it by walking in to AXA-Affin's HQ at Wisma Goldhill, opposite The Weld smile.gif

Only the AIA HQ and Menara Axis's branch accepts AMEX but they dont open on Weekend. Paying on weekdays still entitle the 5xTP, I think still the best.

@MGM Thanks for your useful info on AIA/Chartis.

This is fantastic, free drinks at Starbucks with Maybank Amex. Must go add this to my latest article at my blog.
*
Great, I initially thought Starbucks stopped accepting AMEX around February 2011 like what skymyxe said - as I too experienced problems with AMEX acceptance at Starbucks (IKANO) at that period of time.

This is really a bonus! But not happy as I was at Starbucks @ The Gardens last week and didn't get the offer, or at least the staff didn't inform me (and didn't know about it as well?) mad.gif Most probably it was because although I paid with AMEX Gold CC, I used my Gardens Club card to obtain 10% discount and the AMEX offer isn't valid with other discounts *sigh*

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Apr 7 2011, 04:00 PM)
Most of you would know that I usually say that AMEX CS is second to none, but since last month Maybank is really getting to my nerves.
*
I make it a point to call the toll free number (1-800-88-9559) printed on the AMEX Gold CC instead of 1-300-88-6688 which is printed on the MBBKard 2 Amex - and I think I usually experience better service. Maybe you called the number with more "8" ? tongue.gif

BTW, still no sign of the February 15% cash back as of today (7/4/2011) - I received all the other cashback sums for Nov '10 to Jan '11.

yup, credited into my M2 AMEX instead of AMEX Gold CC
M2 AMEX is ranked higher

Very happy with AMEX's 15% cash back promotion thumbup.gif

07-Apr-2011 07-Apr-2011 15% CASH BACK FEB11 RM150.00
02-Mar-2011 02-Mar-2011 % CASH BACK JAN11 RM150.00
08-Feb-2011 08-Feb-2011 % CASH BACK DEC10 RM45.56
06-Jan-2011 06-Jan-2011 % CASH BACK NOV10 RM150.00

BTW, I received my full cashback which was credited into my AMEX Gold CC although I did spend with my MBBKard 2 (which I registered via SMS) before hitting the RM1000 limit on my AMEX Gold CC at participating malls in February 2011. Their system may be screwed but thankfully I received all my rebates.

Right now, my AMEX Gold CC has -RM161.00 credit which I'll utilise for Starbucks or other 5x MR merchants.

Triply Good News

Membership Rewards Turbo is back for another year!

RM1 spent = 3x Membership Rewards points.

Enrollment fee of RM100 is applicable. Extra 1x point earning starts from the date of enrollment till 31 March 2012.

Yawn. Hardly anyone savvy uses the normal American Express credit card anymore with the introduction of MBB2Kard. Perhaps this promotion is targeted at AMEX Charge Card users (including Gen-X and Alec.Yong).

Thanks Bro for the info.

another great offer - apply for Mbb2 Cards and spend RM800 within 60 days get RM100 cash back smile.gif

ronnie and others already started discussing this yesterday in the maybankard thread! Kind of difficult to qualify for the 20% cash back unless you put in the effort to buy vouchers valued at more than RM2,000.00 at 12:01 AM Monday! Furthermore, no need to register by sms this time unlike previous 15% campaign so the pool of eligible participants is much larger.

Hope to secure a good deal on Thursday or Friday from the TreatsPoints Auction when the crowd is usually smaller and participants tend to have less TP-bidding-power! But they only list 3 items per aucion session at the website so not sure if there is anything worthwhile to bid for.
