I guess you were confused by "erry" in the Credit Card Thread who kept highlighting that only physical swipe would be considered as retail transaction. sweat.gif
*
No no, I wasn't confused, Someone commented in my blog that she checked with MBB CS and was informed that online transactions not applicable for 5% cash back. Clcik here and go bottom and read comments by Serene.

can't even remember erry's comments hahaha

M2Amex, if swipe on weekends.
Weekdays use M2 Visa.
*
You are absolutely correct for M2Amex on weekend if you have not reached the cap of RM50

but for the M2Amex vs M2Visa, so far all reporting for Amex only and we yet to see a actual comparison between the two done on the same place and time. Once we see that, we can then consider the 5X and 1X to work out which give more return. It may just end up the same because 5X =2.5% and 1X =0.5%.

Now chickening out from using MBB2Kard Amex for transactions more than RM1,000.00 NT$ equivalent, especially on non-weekend and also considering that for Amex, transaction is converted to US$ 1st and reconverted thereafter to RM. MBB does not post the NT$ exchange rate online save for currency notes. So far, have only used MBB2Kard Visa as you can get additional gift from Visa at Sogo Taipei. Will try to do lower value transactions with MBB2Kard2 Amex and Visa as well as DAMC at approximately same transaction times for forumer's benefit.

Wise move since the amount is not small. Next time, if paying for more than 1 item, do try to split payment e.g. buying shirts, souvenir, chocolates, etc. Thanks.

I posted in my blog yesterday about my Wife's Application for Maybankard 2 Cards. She ended up with Maybankard 4 Cards! Click here to read abut it.

Wah so many complains ar? With MBB 2 AMEX attracting more customers, this year if AMEX offer the 15% cash back again, sure more will be disappointed. I too have yet to see any cash back for January.

Hi all

I wanna ask for American Express Platinum Credit Card. It says 1st year annual fee waiver. So after that its RM800.

Can we request MBB to waive the annual fee? and do they usually waive it?

I'm hoping to get this card for the perks of going into Plaza Premium Lounges at KLIA and LCCT

thanks

if you want just access to KLIA lounge, there are cards that are "free" and no need to trouble yourself in appealing to get the RM800 waived.

Click here to read about card with free access to KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge.

For reference purposes, I received my full RM150.00 cashback for January 2011 on 2/3/2011. December 2010 cashback received on 8/2/2011.

My February 2011 spending at the participating shopping malls was however split between my AMEX Gold CC (now in cold storage) and Maybankard 2 Amex (registered via SMS immediately upon receipt) - not sure how they will credit it. Thank God I have not had issues so far.

As of today, I have not received the 15% cash back for January yet.

As for the dispute on the 15% cash back for December, Amex has replied via email that the cash back that Amex owes me will be credited into my account before the next statement date.
*
winner: glad to know that you Janu cash back have been sorted out.

but as what wshoh mentioned, looks like you and me not getting our January cash back anytime soon.

I did call CS to today and asked about my January cash back and he said to wait for my statement end of the month.

Anyway I have yet to receive my 15% cash back for January 2011, told CS again yesterday night when I caleed on something else, the CS I spoke to yesterday so helpful and this morning called me back to inform me of my queries. I really like AMEX CS.

they certainly screwed up January...

that's for sure. Was hoping that the cash back be credited in January Statement to offset the GST due on my cards this month. Now got to go redeem again MR points.

As for redemption of MR points for cash, this time around AMEX really took more than 3 weeks for the cash back to be shown in my account even though it took them less then a week from the date of my request for them to deduct the points. I was imposed penalty of RM50 for late payment doh.gif Of course this penalty will be waived but wasting my time following up.

I was going to pay by cash for the items that i bought at SOGO but then, i saw this American Express Select logo on the shelf. So i asked the saleslady if i can any further discount if i were to pay using AMEX and was told that i can get an extra HKD100 off the bill. The saleslady was very surprise that i have an AMEX. She said that this card is extremely rare in Hong Kong  biggrin.gif

Never leave home without it smile.gif

Well maybe the shoppers at SOGO not into AMEX like most people here will say AMEX not wildely accepted. Go to Prada or Channel outlets and the sales girl wouldn't give a blink to what card you use.

This is fantastic, free drinks at Starbucks with Maybank Amex. Must go add this to my latest article at my blog.

Most of you would know that I usually say that AMEX CS is second to none, but since last month Maybank is really getting to my nerves. Mid last month redeem points for cash for my Gold Charge Card, and as of end of last month it was not credited and therefore I was imposed penalty RM50. Cash back for January have been fully distributed and late March a CS said will get management to award me point instead.

Up to early this week, my redemption for cash back, penalty waiver and additional points still not reflected in the system when I checked online. So called AMEX and the earlier CS that attended my matters was suppose to call me but failed. So today called up AMEX and gave the CS a piece of my mind (in a way not directed at her) and she promised to call me back by Monday next week.

Conclusion, AMEX level of customer service have definitely dropped and there should be a separate team to handle Charge Card members.

@Gen-X,
Lol.. eh speaking of which, what's the possibility of getting waiver on the Charge Card?! I'm thinking of getting the Charge Card due to the 3X Turbo program tongue.gif
*
Seriously, forget about the charge card Turbo 3X, get Maybankard 2 Cards and get 5X TP plus 5% cash rebate (max RM600/year). Unless you want to access airport lounges worldwide with the Platinum Charge Card. Mine is Gold Charge Card, AMEX waiving annual fees like as far as I can remember.

I only keeping my gold charge card because of the Member Since 88.
