During Amex time before MBB took over the operation, you could just cancel over the phone and keep the card. But for MBB case, I not very sure if you can just cancel the card over the phone. Last time I cancel my MBB Pet Gold and Plat I went to surrender the card at the branch, can't remember why I did so but most probably is because I was told to do so.

When i helped my mom to cancel her Maybankard AMEX Gold (in 2009) and AMEX Green Charge Card (in 2010), all i did was to fax the credit card cancellation letter to their credit card department and voilà, the card was canceled a few weeks later and she did not even have to surrender her cards.

I have just collected Maybankard 2 Amex and Visa Platinum from Poslaju collection centre. My card anniversary date is in August, which follows the anniversary date of my existing Amex Gold cc. Subsequently I called MBB Platinum hotline to activate the cards, and was informed that service tax will only be charged in August. Also, the CS officer said the current 15% cash back promotion is not applicable to Maybankard 2 Amex.

I shall wait for my first 2 months' statement and see whether it is true.

It will be great news if it follows existing CC's GST anniversary. So we can earn 5% weekend rebates first :-)

No.

Maybankard2 doesn't require call-in to activate once you receive your CC. Can use immediately.

Even though some cards can be used without activation, I would always call the bank soon after I receive the card, for security and convenience reasons.

It is not possible to do it online at this point in time. If you want to use Amex paying Maxis bills, you need to do it at Maxis centres.
