It is not recommended to apply for the cards through telephone without submitting any documents. Some forummers here including myself tried this method but ended up receiving error and delay.

If you want to get the card fast, you can download the form from M2U website and fill in the form yourself and then fax or email it over to MBB together with some supporting documents.

It is quite a difficult mission to find a Petronas station that accept Amex. If you are lucky, you could find those older Petronas stations displaying Amex logo at entrance, accept Amex in the counters.

Among all petrol stations, Amex cards experience problems mainly at Petronas only.

Never experienced that. Sometimes VISA/MC can't be swiped at Petronas not because of card acceptance, it is due to system offline!

That's the pump problem. It does happen to other petrol stations like Shell and Mobil as well. Normally it is a temporary problem which occurs occasionally.

What I mentioned was the NON-ACCEPTANCE (no matter when you swipe and how many times you swipe) of Amex at the pump kiosks of most Petronas stations.

Anyway, just use your Amex at other petrol stations and your problem is solved.

It is highly recommended to use Amex at Esso/Mobil because of the conversion of points to fuel, which is equivalent to an additional 1.5% cash back. If we use Maybankard 2 Amex at Esso/Mobil during weekends, we can then get 5x TPs + 5% cash back + additional 1.5% rebate.

I find it has no difference for RON95 with Shell, Petronas and Esso/Mobil. Therefore, I use Esso/Mobil more frequent nowadays since it makes me save more money by giving out more points compared to other brands. Also, I may win somwthing from Esso/Mobil since its customer base is not as big as Shell and Petronas.

It is from Esso/Mobil Smiles card, just like Petronas Kad Mesra and Shell Bonuslink. Smiles card gives more points compared to Kad Mesra and Bonuslink, whereby every RM1 fuel at Esso/Mobil give you 1x Smiles point. You can utilise 1,000 Smiles points to redeem Esso/Mobil fuel worth RM15, equivalent to additional 1.5% cash back.

You can get something from Maybank outlet located inside Mid Valley Megamall, not the banking hall located outside the Megamall. There are authorised Maybank card agents working there.

For those who think the compulsory Maybankard 2 VISA/MC is useless, here's an idea to utilise the card. You can use it for BT purpose only and enjoy 0% interest for 12 months.

GOSH DARNIT!!! I am supposed to get the full RM150 cash back for spending in December 2010 but I only noticed RM80 deposited into my Amex account. I did a thorough calculation just now and got the answer. My spending from 6-12-10 onwards DID NOT EARN any cash back. That means the total payout of RM1mil for December had finished on 6-12-10 or earlier, but MBB only announced it end-December. What the hell!

This month, I am not going to use my Amex Gold cc in the participating shopping malls again. I am gonna cut it soon after the 15% cash back promotion ends.

Anyway, I have already lodged a complaint through email. See how soon they would respond.

I would say, Amex's system is scrappy. From 10x points promotion, to 15% cash back, everything in relation to mathematics is messed up.

Until now, I have not received the balance of 10x points in full despite numerous complaints lodge to them. This promotion ended July last year.

Worst still, they did not deposit the 15% cash back in full this time around.

It is very difficult to predict as this 15% cash back promotion is not transparent. Based on common sense, this month’s quota shouldn’t been reached yet, as most shoppers have already made their purchases during the festive season in December and January. However, we cannot underestimate Amex users especially during this CNY, a lot of Chinese restaurants in the participating shopping malls offer meal packages. Each package (decent meal) could easily cost RM1,000 per table.

Never trust MBB. For instance, MBB only made announcement on the status of quota for December via M2U website on 3 Janauary 2011.

A RM50 hypermarket voucher needs 11,000 points, which is not attractive. It would be better to redeem RM50 shopping voucher for Metrojaya and Robinsons with 9,000 points only.

We were talking about TreatPoints, not Membership Rewards Points. TP and MR are 2 different programmes, thus having different catalogues.

I have just collected Maybankard 2 Amex and Visa Platinum from Poslaju collection centre. My card anniversary date is in August, which follows the anniversary date of my existing Amex Gold cc. Subsequently I called MBB Platinum hotline to activate the cards, and was informed that service tax will only be charged in August. Also, the CS officer said the current 15% cash back promotion is not applicable to Maybankard 2 Amex.

I shall wait for my first 2 months' statement and see whether it is true.

Even though some cards can be used without activation, I would always call the bank soon after I receive the card, for security and convenience reasons.

It is not possible to do it online at this point in time. If you want to use Amex paying Maxis bills, you need to do it at Maxis centres.
