Hi,

Any one working at Dutch lady Malaysia PJ branch? They have recently advertised for a lot of positions there ranging from Brand manager,Assistant Brand manager, key account manager,Production manager,Demand executive,Channel Development Executive. Did a whole lot of people left the company?

How is the working environment there? Spoke to HR once enquiring about post but the HR lady sounded corky.

I've heard that the company has a lot of traditional thinking people working in it. Those 'ah pek and ah sam', the working environment is totally different from certain listed company that inherits the working attitude overseas. And typically, 'ah sam' there always act bossy. Perhaps that is why you think the lady sounded corky.

Years back when I was job seeking, I remember their HR personnel inviting me to interview through SMS. And she was using her personal phone, with an sms like this "Hi XXX, this is XXX from Dutch Lady HR, please call us asap". No, I did not miss any calls beforehand, that sms was the first contact point.

She's like damn lazy to even bother giving me a call. Anyway, I didn't go cuz already had an offer elsewhere that time.

I have a friend working in Dutch Lady and he has worked there for more than 10 years and now he was a senior manager in the Company.

I can see that Dutch Lady is a good company to work with as they develop people.

I wish to work in Dutch Lady but unfortunately the job that they posted is not the job that I'm currently working.

It's owned by Dutch Company, FrieslandCampina. I've worked with the marketing team there as we were one of their appointed ad agencies. People there seem like they're happy.

Hiring and interview
Never join as their motto was non stop hiring until stabilization.

But they didn’t know which tasks and job scope for the new hires. There’s staff sitting there doing nothing until the mgmt found the right job as promise during interview.

Teams work their heads off and Managers unable to temporarily shift their resources to help out other teams.

Imagine: Heaven and Hell in office (pity my friend)

Attrition rate : Weekly to Monthly basis. Shortest period of serving one month = notice period for probation period.

Privacy
Job offers and ranking was openly asked by HR in front of the staff to the hiring managers.

In this company, you will have no privacy as they will share their performance review and ask how much bonus you get.

Working culture
Be mediocre and you’re safe. Managers was easy to handle, you just need to be behave well and accept anything that they wanted you to be (position and extra jobs not under your scope). Lack of workplace diversity

Future job progression
Surprised that this company have no talent portal and they have no internal career plans for their staff.

Company policy
Offer letter not align with company policy/ policies.
“They” are the policy.

Final word from my friend who suffered:
Don’t join unless you have no choice.
Google Dutch culture before you join.
Mgmt was clueless and you will be soon too.
Don’t overperform
You will realized, you’re much better than the managers and they’re paid 3 times higher than you.

Don’t get conned with the beautiful plans and imaginary world they had (I’m lucky that I didn’t accept it)

Hi Littlesilverboy,

Few question to ask you since your friend have offer here before:

Q1. Mind if I ask what position they offered to your friend?
Q2. Your friend offered position direct reporting to Netherlands HQ or KL Shared Service?
Q3. Does he require to travel oversea?

Thanks.

I got friend working in in their Shared Service IT , seems nightmare and he resign within few months cause manager torture… they hire with all kind promise but the moment they know you can do work they will squeeze to maximum .. very high turnover .. salary and position based where you come from or who you know not based on skill .. if you join with low package no chance to move up … remember DLMI and the Shared Service IT .. heard DLMI is better than their IT … Seems the whole shared service run by two group people from different company ..
Agree Don’t get conned with the beautiful plans and imaginary world they had .
