Spoke to a contractor for a quote today.. he say to install laminate flooring on top pf parquet.
First time I hear this...is he serious? Not a very smart advice according to me..
The house parquet is 28 years old...is he testing how ignorant I am?
its very common for laminate timber flooring install direct on/ above existing tiles/ parquet/ cement floor, of course there is a layer of rubber material in between, we call it "floating system" First time I hear this...is he serious? Not a very smart advice according to me..

I guess this is a common 'option' instead of getting the demolish and cart away the old parquet. Some ppl live-in, so they don't want the mess.. if the old parquet condition is still ok (ie. flat, no major damages here and there) then this can be done. For me as I'm moving out of the house, so i get the contractor to demolish the existing parquet, cart away debris, and prepare a new flat surface in preparation for my new laminated floor..and this cost money.
there will be a small raise in floor level but some may accept it due to co$t, door may need to cut @ bottom too
