QUOTE(hibino55 @ Jan 16 2011, 05:13 PM)
Hi all, I am still here, in my progress of learning all the term here.

Something really confused me is the dividend payout process. There happened to be announcement date, Ex-date and payment date.

Let's take Gopeng as example:

Gopeng Bhd
Exdate: 27/01/2011
Amount: 35.0 sen
Par value: RM 0.50
Payment date: 16/02/2011
25 sen Tax Exempt and 10 sen Less 25% Income Tax

1. So, if i buy gopeng on 26/01/11, and sell it on 28/01/11, will I get the dividend?

2. And what does the '35cents' mean? I bought 1 lot at RM1.40, and I can get 25cents*1000(after tax)? How could this be?

I know this might sound noobie for some of you at my question... Thanks in advance

Best regards,
Hare

1. As long as you buy before ex-date, your are entitled for diveden i.e buy before 27/01/2011

2. The 35cent means that you will get 35 cents of divedend per share. If you have 1000 shares, you
will be paid RM350 before tax. After tax should be (0.25 X1000 + (0.10 x 0.75)X1000 = 325.
