hey guyz, need some input here
Between Asus G53sx -s2108V and G73SW-XN2, which one is a better pick?
So far i only saw ppl in here selling G53SX with hd screen, while 1 other seller is selling a G73sw with a FHD screen. Im more leaning towards G53SX but the screen resolution is turning me off. Appreciate if someone can shed
some input

Youtube got alot of guide on how to disassemble the parts on G53. I especially like this how to install 2nd harddrive video by XOTIC PC
It is clear and easy to understand. I tried to access the hadrdisk and add ram on my own. I thought it would be hard but it turn out to be quite easy smile.gif

Oh ya guys, need some help here
does the backlight use software/drive to function? cos my backlight doesnt seem to light up now. nothing happen when i press the backlight button or Fn+F4.

yup, its quite easy. You just took the keyboard off and you can already access the empty ram slot. It doesnt involve taking out any screw.

@DoubleU
Yup the ATK package is still im my computer but i dont know why i cant use the backlight sad.gif

The light does come out a few second during boot up so i think its not a hardware problem, more like a driver problem

add on: nvm bro, it working now. It turn out my previous ATK file got corrupted. I tried reinstall it again and it work perfectly. lol silly me laugh.gif

Dont worry thats normal,
when you buy a new hdd lets say 640gb, you wont get exactly 640gb empty space.

Guys just got my notebook today. Wanna ask how the heck do you put the notebook to fit nicely into the bag. It seems like the edges are close to protruding out of the bag provided.

p/s: Notebook is EXCELLENT !!! Best notebook I have ever had my hands on ever.

I use a different bag instead
Brand everki bought it for RM80 from All IT lowyat. Can support laptop up to 17'
Didnt bother using the bag that Asus give out. Too small

Yea it will fit but a bit too tight for my liking. Later if I force it to much it will worn out fast. So thats why I use a different bag.
Here is the bag that Im currently using. The quality is not the best but my G53sx fit nice in it.

To me 8gb is enough for me to open alot of project in illustrator CS5 . For ppl who use 3d/video software the large amount of ram will help but for gaming suppose - no, it doesnt help.

If you guyz planning to add another ram, occupied the slot under the keyboard first. It will run dual channel with your existing ram.

I think this model should be similar to the sx. Probs will upgrade 4 gb as the other memory slots are quite tricky to install. Plus then it can run dual channell.

its not that hard, once you try it you will be surprise how easy it is

im using CM Storm SF-19, that cooler is a monster. It uses 2 normal 14cm casing fan that is adjustable and the best part is u can switch it with any other fan. It also have multi color led light for bling bling. The only con that i think is that, u have to plug in a power adapter to turn on the fan and all that nice stuff. sad.gif

ur fans must be spinning quite fast right since it has its own power source rather than using the laptop's

you can adjust the speed depending on your preference

i am using ayambrand cooler pad.. im not sure if my temps got reduce or not.. i just like it to be elevated abit
has anyone here tried the witcher 2 at 1080p ??

In my case, I haven't try it yet. That game really does require alot of power to play it on the highest setting. Even a gtx570 straggle a bit when ubersampling is on. I really wanted to try it on the laptop but sister forget where she place it last time adeh..... sad.gif

So far already tried Crysis 1&2, BF3, MW3, and Drangon Age 2. All can play on mid/highest setting

I also face that problem at the first time but i then realize that you have to slightly/gently push the ram into the connector before clipping it

Yea, I also wonder why this laptop a bit different. Usually I would do is just clip it and good to go but this 1 need some minor adjusting before clipping.

Saw your channel running on dual. I think everything is fine. How bout running some gaming to test it.

so basically we dont always need the recovery partition to start up the window?

Lol - silly me, I tot the recovery partition is a requirement for the bios. Dont no where i got that from. I must misread it somewhere. In that case I might join you guyz soon smile.gif
