Hey guys I'm new with Asus g series. Currently I have in my mind is the g53 series but may I asked what is the highest spec that I could get for this model. Do u guys carry your g53 series around all the time? Is it heavy? Battery power wise? My budget is around 6k-8k. I would really prefer the g7 series but it's too huge to lug around... Hopefully I could get a gaming laptop that could suits my need. Here is my requirement:

International warranty because I'm going to bring it to overseas
Cod, bf3, skyrim
High resolution screen to use for photo editing

Thanks guys!

i just got mine like last week and i am quite satisfied with it smile.gif i do heavy picture editing as well and all i can say is it handles all cs5 products without a sweat except when it loads my fonts (1000 over) -.-" . weight wise, not much of a problem to me and i carry it to work everyday. its considered heavy but still bearable though. it will normally last me around 1 1/2 to 2 hours on normal usage without ac on.

Hi all Sifu, Would like to ask, for my G53sx, when I install any games, some installer will update my direct X automatically during the end of the installation, and here comes my problem, the installer will not response at all and showing "updating direct X" forever and my system feels the lag, I need to force restart my PC, then everything back to normal and the installed game is not corrupted as well, I can play. By the way, I'm already having the latest Direct X installed, what is this problem?
*
what game is that..

maybe the direct x installer is corrupted or smthg..

Weight? I carry it with me everyday, everywhere i go. It does get tiring sometimes because the weight does strain your shoulders, but you'll get used to it. My old laptop was 3.2kg and this is 4kg. Just 800g more.

The power and pros of this laptop outweighed the laptop's weight. *pardon the pun* tongue.gif

Guys just got my notebook today. Wanna ask how the heck do you put the notebook to fit nicely into the bag. It seems like the edges are close to protruding out of the bag provided.

p/s: Notebook is EXCELLENT !!! Best notebook I have ever had my hands on ever.

Yea it will fit but a bit too tight for my liking. Later if I force it to much it will worn out fast. So thats why I use a different bag.
Here is the bag that Im currently using. The quality is not the best but my G53sx fit nice in it.

Guys thanks for the info. Might op for another bag also as really don't like the notebook edge to be protruding out. any bump and there goes the screen.

ian913: You should open it there and atleast check your screen. When I got mine turn on the screen was broken. Instead of black it showed RED and ghosting. Lucky they had another unit there so swap.

play some gpu intensive games like crysis 1 or 2.. for maybe 1 hour...

if no problems (crashing , auto shut down) , means its working fine

then check ur temps for gpu and cpu after gaming... shud be below 85C for both gpu n cpu..

maybe also check ur connectivity ports.. wifi... hdmi.. ethernet ...

Wow what happen to.your screen. When I first turn on the screen it was blank for some time and I thought the screen is gone. Then I off it and turn on again and the screen is on again. Scare me out of shit. I will check on the things stated. Thanks all sifu. By the way I am coming from s42 benq. I find the sound very soft and low. Is it normal for g53?

yes, the motto strike in silence isn't just for fun brows.gif lol misread your post... soft speakers, try trustmeimlegit way. If that doesn't work, try a different mp3 or youtube video, sometimes its the file itself is lower volume

how's ur S42? mine half dead already, have to run on the intel card and the speakers gone already.

open creative THX ... change from built in speakers to external speakers..

and also.. go to speaker properties > enhancement > lousness equalization

that makes the speakers louder abit

U all got saw before the G74 got the Rotation_Desktop_G_Series utility right?
and wonder can download from Asus Official site, and the answer is no
Here you are, http://www.mediafire.com/?tsd4yja1vge9e8o
unrar the folder and before install it,
right click the window batch file and run as administrator. *this steps very important, if u skips this step, ur power desktop gear will crash and cant run successfully!!!!
Install the application
Thats it.

jaycn67: Sweet !!! Thanks bro..

Guys/Gals : Have decided to bump up the RAM from stock 4GB to 12GB. Should be quite straight forward right ? Remove keyboard then should have 2 slots available to slot in right? Thanks.

the manual says there should be 4 slots..1st slot is used factory build onto the board 4GB so leaves 3 more slots... some where on the notebook.

question:
On the website it states the audio is "Built-in Speakers And Microphone /EAX Advanced HD 5.0 / THX TruStudio"

But the driver is "Realtek Audio Driver" anyone can help me on this.

@Evirobear, not quite, look for BTOtech's dismantle video of the G53, from memory, 1 slot accessible by removing keyboard, 2 by removing the bottom panel, and last one is quite deep? it should be on the front page that video

edit: from front page, the second video from xoticpc for the G53. Pretty sure the BTOtech showed you each step, xotic just skips.

Found the video >

Added on November 26, 2011, 10:34 pmsee around the 7:10 mark. Shows the 2nd super hidden ram slot
