is it worth waiting?  rclxub.gif

Just wait if u want to feel SB power, unless if ur not concern about the processor raw power, u could go ahead with g73jw. biggrin.gif

1)ohhhh.... so i realy need repasted

2) if i ix by myself... will it avoid the warranty..... about the compound ic7... lowyat ada jual x????..one more thing... i takut to sent the laptop to asus center because many ehem2 inside the laptop....hee...

3) maybe.... but i do not have a vaccum
(my english is very bad.)
*
1) U have no choice to repaste coz, ur GPU hit the max temp for the card itself.

2)u could send to service centre and let them do the repaste job, coz its their manufacturing line which is applying too few thermal paste, the paste hardly cover 3/4 of the gpu chip itself, since ur laptop still under warranty. I've seen most of the repaste ones, and the temps is not quite satisfying but still its better temp than before repaste.

ICD7 is not available in malaysia, u'll have to order it from overseas or US Ebay.

3) Normal household vacuum is good, i clear my asus vent which is full of dusts with it. U may need to disassemble the back panel and clean from both inside and outside.

3)how to disassemble the back panel....

sorry if i ask many thing....
*
1) They will accept ur laptop if its still within 2 years warranty.

2)all ur p0rn stuff transfer out first or keep it somewhere weird with odd file name.

3) Check the service manual. They have all the instructions there.

afag, a SB 2630QM is on par with an i7 920XM, imagine the cost that you saved to obtain such processor power. However, if you are not patient enough, u can jz go for the 1st gen i7's.

Lol, u wouldn't have to tell us that you have a collection of 'ahem ahem' XD

riku, I thought using a vacuum especially household types are not advisable?
After all,the electrostatic produced by vacuum could be harmful to the system.
Please advise.
*
I tried before. Household vacuum has more powerful suction power. Do it when ur laptop is turned off and backpanel to clean from the inside. and leave it for some moment to let it discharge itself.

I wonder why Asus didn't equip their weapon with GTX 470m/485m GPU.
Is it coz heat problem?
*
Heat issue and the bomb value of the GPUs.

Thanks for watching my review.  biggrin.gif

It is a stereo speakers.

The sound quality is considered good in that form factor. However, I still recommend you to get a decent 2.1 or 5.1 speakers for home theater set up as this tiny speakers will cost you very much too. If I'm not mistaken, RM210 at Malaysia.  smile.gif

Added on February 21, 2011, 5:26 amDang it. My notebook has a problem again. This time is speakers (audio) problem.

The problem details as follow:

1. When I was watching some YouTube videos. suddenly the speakers went MAD as it produced annoying high pitch sound which scared the shit out of me as it happened suddenly. At first, I ignored it and assumed that it would be something wrong to the vid.

2. Few hours later, the sound appeared again while I was listening to my songs. That scared the shit out of me too as it came out of sudden. Dang it!

What do you guys think is wrong with this notebook. sad.gif
*
it could be the sound driver itself.

All's not well in hybrid solid state storage land, as owners of Seagate's Momentus XT are facing serious issues with their drives -- despite glowing initial reviews, a number of long-term users claim that the drives chirp, crash, stutter, and freeze with alarming regularity, particularly when installed in a Mac. Seagate forumgoers speculate these are symptoms of the XT's magnetic platters spinning down inappropriately, due to an overzealous power management scheme. That's the bad news -- and it sounds pretty bad -- but the good news is this: Seagate's owning up to the issues, and is actively involved in getting them fixed. So far, a pair of new firmware updates have addressed some symptoms, a third is on the way, and a Seagate engineer known only as STX_NB is proactively chatting with affected customers about possible fixes. That's what we call technical support -- take notes, tech companies.

It would be either Seagate is in big trouble or better spend on a real SSD.

Nope. This problem didn't pop up when I used the Razer Ferox.

then it should be driver issue.

i guess the problem doesn't occur before u had ur razer speaker installed. I assume u should contact or google razer forum about it.
Same goes to the most g73jh users face, the random lockup from creative software.

The plug-and-play Razer Ferox can mess up the sound driver?
*
yes, there's the potential chance it could be the cause. Check ur device manager/realtek audio manager.

Like my HP Mini 210 netbook has some issue with USB Keyboard. I have to uninstall the USB keyboard driver from device manager and re-plug the usb keyboard then it works again.

But some say that even if it's not connected to any power cords anymore, it still has some charges in the system. Therefore, static shocks might occur and would damage the system gradually.

Do you guys wear any anti-static strap or something like that while cleaning the pc?

By the way, riku, can u elaborate more by what you meant from

'Heat issue and the bomb value of the GPUs.'

I'm interested also why ASUS never decide to use a slightly better GPU like 470M when it is almost the same as 460M.
*
U never heard of GTX 480m heat? The initial GTX 480m is cooled by 2 GPU fans according to Eurocom initial GTX 480m equipped laptop. I guess u never know the Nvidia cards are always expensive than radeon cards by a big margin for a similiar performance + gimmick.

Dell Alienware is not even using GTX 480m/470m due to 2 reasons - heat issue and high power consumption... in other words heavier+ bigger power brick. The same reason probably goes to Asus R&D as well. GTX 460m is the ones which is balance in temperature + power consumption.

Thanks Riku for the explanation =)

Yes,I've heard of the heat issue from 480m before, it's quite exaggerating when I found out. I remember I saw a video advertisement before that teases Fermi GPUs with extreme heat issues, haha.

I do know that Nvidia is always more expensive than ATI Radeons which have similar performance but it seems to me that many people stick to Nvidia for stability reasons, isn't it?

Somehow,I still prefer the 460M as compared to the 5870 XD

Since the 460M is balanced, a 470M isn't balanced?
Both the 460M and 470M do share the same TDP after all..
*
But heat is a concern, and the cost of a 470m is a problem that they have to increase the price of the overall laptop. As well as more copper oz to be fitted for cooling.

Well,470m is a lot more expensive than the 460m?
With the slight bump in performance than the 460m,it shouldn't be isn't it?

But you're right, definitely the amount of copper to be used will be more in 470m.

Thanks for the explanation.

Now, is there going to be any ASUS gaming laptops that will stock with the 2720QM instead of the entry 2630QM?
Upgrading is just costly =(
*
No, core i7 2720QM is require upgrade, unless u could find some OEM Reseller from eBay with cheaper price but ur own labour installing and repasting.

Attention to G53JW users, if u face some sudden shutdown issue, please check both of ur fans. There's a probability of the fan fail to spin and resulting the computer to force sudden shutdown. Please Take notice of this as some of the G53JW units are facing such issue.

I mentioned. its SOME not ALL. So depends on ur luck. If it ever fails, check ur fans. It could be either the CPU Fan or the GPU fan is no spinning.

How do we check whether the fan is spinning or not?
