There are people who like pvp and people who dont like it.. Dont call people who gank you as douchebags.. They just might have more skill then you in pvp and kill you . Like the post above if you are 'scared' then roll on a pve server where all the carebears play.

Better yet go and play in Role playing server , whereby people take their names and roles seriously...I mean WTH , , cultist crap drop from silitus goes for 1k in AH , thats just pure insane

In RP servers you have a strict naming policy , you cannot have names like iamwannasomehealz or leetpally or some funny names.

Instead of saying

You'll use Queen's English

Latency ? I know people go like OMG wow taiwan gives me 100ms ping and other balh blah . I can still do with 400ms latency , its just timing and doing predictions in early/before hand

Test out the trial , again its only fun when you have people. If you want , join Darkspear - horde - touchpad heros...find for MY/SG guild , you may wanna join those ang moh guilds but they are just serious !

You can control it tho, but things after things in wow might consume you without you realizing it

People who say this obviously have not been in any role playing server or have any idea what they're talking about. RP servers are full of Scottish Dwarves, Dayum Orcs, STD-ridden Goldshire and Silvermoon and overpriced items. Unless you're in an RP guild, RPing will more likely get you demoralising responses.

Thats what I've seen in RP server. For me I want my Chuck Norris joke and random lulz at Trade channel and WTS Fortune Card for 50g

Good thing is that I have a failsafe to wean me off the game at times: I get bored easily, especially when it involves repetition. Before I used to do 5-10 heroics a day, complete the daily cap. Now I'm doing 1-2 heroics a day, and sometimes couldn't be bothered to do the dailies.

Sometimes I would do random BGs just to get honor points for pvp mounts, but omg, horde sucks.

So, anyone in Thaurissan interested in getting vanilla/tbc/wotlk achievements?
Planning on setting up a group just to get those blings.

basically,

wow US:
- english literate people
- 400ms - 600ms ping
- expensive entry fee (cd keys alone cost RM350 ++)
- enjoy true wow experience, ang moh style?

wow Taiwan:
- mandarin literate people
- 100ms - 250ms ping
- cheap entry fee (no need buy cd keys)
- enjoy the wow game, maybe a bit different wow experience

If you are into storyline , dont' care about communication and dont care about Chuck Norris jokes , then WoW Taiwan with English client is great.Quests , etc all are in English

lowerping is good , my friend from Thaurissan . SRS raiding guild , latency must be less then 250ms , uses lowerping - it really helps to lower down latency. Since money is not a question , WoW US is the way to go , for your case.

Actually with 400 ms, u get disadvantage in the game, your dps in raid get lower down due to delay, your pvp get affected due to delay as well.

400 ms in US also means u need to pay additionally for tunneling service, with tunneling service, in taiwan, u get around 50 ms.

In summary, if u want to be competitive, latency is everything.

No worries: play on an Oceanic server with the Aussies. They seem to have worse latency than Unifi (since they always think 400ms is a pipe dream)

Still, being par with the aussies doesn't gives u competitive advantage over them, and what about US players who play in Oceanic server, u still get unfair disadvantage in the form of delay and lag.

Just my 2 cents, if u dun mind about the delay, then not an issue at all.

Actually in my own humble experience with US and Taiwan, i dont see US funner than Taiwan, lets put all the obvious different such as latency aside,

wow is also a social game where u get to know people, form a bond, and achieve in game objective together. I want to get my friends to play with me alot. when i started wow US, i joined my friends, slowly, one by one they stop wow, due to monthly fees commitment, we're all working adult, so, we probably dont have much time to play the game, maybe occasionally online at night to do some dailies etc, also, not to say, when BC goes to WOTLK, alot of my friends stop. Me, my brother, and a few of us remain, we get new friends, but its pretty lonely, i tell u.

The upfront fees is quite hefty for most ppl here. Its practically very hard to get people to join u in wow US.

When someone mentioned about WOW taiwan and its obvious advantage, the one big reason that get me to abandon my wow US acct and 100,000 gold wotlk time, relevel in wowtaiwan, regear, and refarm all the gold is: i can finally play with all my friends now, we get around 30++ old members back to wow.

This is only make possible with wowtaiwan.

Now, im in wowtaiwan, in a guild, mostly of rl friends, also, get alot of new friends from many different channel, but still,

Playing with real life friends is priceless, more fun then anything else.

Im not saying wow US any bad, it just, make more sense to play wowtaiwan for me.

I've been in a foreign guild even I'm playing in US servers. First was chinese guild... everyone uses those chinese char thingy to chat. Guild chat is pretty boring. I only whisper between friends in the guild. I do get responses if I asked something or chatting something there, its just that most of the time everything they chat or talked is in chinese. sien... I've made my own friends out of guild but between whispers only... I lost to joy a guild chatting abit :< Then now in vietnamese guild. I didn't purposely apply for these guilds, its just that my best friends are in it, they do speak english but they don't own the whole few hundred ppl in the guild. So same situation, mostly chatting in vietnamese, i cannot tumpang their topic at all :< they can speak english btw, Whatever i asked n talked are nicely replied. Its just that they too started all their talks in viet.

This is just guild...

And how are you gonna make new friends?? I make lots of random friends, to the extend to knowing horde n adding them to bnet recently rofl... all these ppl are keeping me occupied, so does lots more from guild... but i really felt left out when they chatted alot in viet >.<

oh btw, latency is ok lah.. 200-300ms with tunnels is more than i can ever wish for.. even thought i secretly wanna b greedy and wished for 2digit ms xD

if you play in oceanic server.. more than half of the people there are playing same ping with you, no worries, you are not being left behind.

50ms or 100ms is like heaven, i would grin all day just by looking at it but i kept having this imagination, if i were to go taiwan, its like im a lone warrior, i'll probably enjoy pvp only with that ms... I pug alot :> i pug everyday. I like random chats. WOW is fun when socialize if language is a barrier, will it still be fun there?

ya, i do agree with u. Language barrier is the main problem for those who doesnt know english to play in wowtaiwan, Banana is still fine,but if u dunno chinese at all,it gonna get a bit hard.

Because of that also, we made ourself our own guild, English speaking guild, and we seems to be able to random attract ppl who speak English but outside Malaysia to join us, its not that they dunno chinese, some of them, trying to learn English, while others, like us, is more familiar with English, due to many years playing in WOW US, or main familiar with english online.

My view is, if u know chinese, and wanna try worldofwarcraft, u can definitely give wowtaiwan a try.

Try first and if u dun like it, u can get back to wow US or Oceanic if u want to, the switching cost is close to none.

While you are free to have your opinions and I really have no preference for either US or Taiwan servers, but this post just doesn't sit well with me. All you've said here is that you quit WoW US because your friends left, then found it more enjoyable in WoW Taiwan because that's where they ended up playing in.

Besides the cheap barrier of entry (which assume the friends you used to play with don't have their old CD keys any more), there is nothing that validates your statement:



By this logic, you could easily juxtapose the servers (your friends all went to WoW US) and you'd be just as happy there.
