If the laptop's monitor is only 720p, can the external monitor display FULL HD?
*
If your monitor has FullHd resolution of 1920x1080 then YES..

QUOTE(soundsyst64 @ Jan 16 2011, 07:22 PM)
no problem of using external monitor.
there's a chance of framerate dropping if play in big screen. you can test gaming in full screen 720 and 1080 resolution and see the framerate difference
*
Framerate would stay the same if your game is set at the same resolution... Connecting to fullHD monitor doesn't mean that ur game must be played on FUllHD.. If you say 720P doesn't look nice on 1080P monitor, this really depends how big is ur monitor then.. I have a 21.5 inch fullHd monitor but I can't tell the differences between HD and FullHd for my games most of the time.. (unless I lean my head near to the screen to see the pixels lol)

QUOTE(alucard1412 @ Jan 16 2011, 07:46 PM)
Is there a reasonably big difference between gt540m and 550m? i know it seems like so on notebookcheck, but not much info there about 550m in terms of fps. Would the difference be worth an additional RM200?
*
Not much difference but N series has much better multimedia functions.. BnO speakers, better microphone, some say better build quality.. A series sound is very soft and only got 1 headphone/microphone jack..

haha indeed its plain, especially compared to the sleek look of the N series. But i guess i can do without usb 3.0, can't really utilize it anyway...and i have external speakers too. what's important to me is, is N series build quality really better than A series? It being the premium model and all.
*
This is a bit subjective, go and try out the real thing yourself..

Eh i just found out that A43SV is 2630M, not 2630QM like N53SN. Meaning not sandy bridge? Or perhaps typo?
*
Yea typo error.. It's sandy bridge.. The Q means 'quad' core but it's left out in mentioning sometimes.. Sandy bridge dual core doesn't come out until march and the model numbers are different also..

I am falling in love with the Asus N53SN....for me, no match for the Acer 5750g......badly hoping it'll be on sale by the 28th of this month, or is it already out?
*
As I mentioned to you in another thread, probably next week according to some retailers..

I found out the N53SV will be  using i5-2410M priced at rm2799 and estimated next week arrival.
*
I thought i5 dual cores are not coming out so soon..

and i5-2410M??! Like seriously? Thats the lowest specs of SB full power processor... Rated weaker than i5-460M n i5-480M and clock speed is only 2.3Ghz...

At least give out i5-2520M lar...

i asked a retailer at sunway piramid today and he told me new sandy bridge laptops for asus will only arrive like in 4-5 months time...and that sandy bridge is unstable and prone to overheating  =.=''  he's probably trying to get rid of his old stocks first...
*
Fxck another bullshitting seller, hate these guys... Yesterday I was just giving such examples in a thread.. Now it happened again..

probably Asus wont arrive so fast, since they are not rush to battle in market, since they have a good reputation, like dell also not in rush to push the new sandy bridge
*
4-5 months is bullshit when Asus advertised themselves in their jan-feb brochure

I think it's either a scam or a pre-order since the real thing not even out for sale yet.. No one would know what ram is inside as no one has their hands on 1 before..

guys, i just check out the N53SN on asus website but on the specification page, there are i3,i5,i7. Does that mean n53sn has different version? Btw did asus announce n53sv prosessor yet?
*
The different variants is for different countries.. Normally Malaysia only got 1 specs

if budget is not really a concern here, the asus n53sn is equal, and in some aspect better than the acer 5750g  right?
*
It's better in all aspects than 5750G if budget is not a concern

QUOTE(cjoenic @ Jan 29 2011, 02:24 PM)
got more money? go for Asus N53SN (RM3499).

need to budget? Acer 5750G (RM2899)

btw, acer has better support and worth warranty.

usually, acer has more handsome design... hihihi...

asus.. branded quality... any else?

the difference? major price difference but very near spec.. lol
*
Better support? Both are using high point services? Any differences?
Asus got international warranty, how is Acer better?
Erm, I would let u go with the design part since it's subjective
But Asus got much better build quality n much better speakers..
550M is better than 540M around 1k in benchmark probably

QUOTE(kinwais91 @ Jan 29 2011, 06:42 PM)
it's quite near in terms of specs
but the built quality is a whole lot different
Asus's N53SN has aluminium finishing
therefore better heat management
and thus lappie can 'survive' longer
*
Aluminium doesn't mean it has better heat management..
It's the design of heat ventilation inside the laptop that matters..
Aluminium would make the laptop feel very hot instead..

u feel the 'hot'
but it wont remain long inside
aluminium releases heat faster
*
No doubt aluminium is a good heat dissipator, I never deny that...

Just that the most important thing is STILL the design of the laptop/mobo that defines good heat management...

Look at last year's HP-Dv6 and MacBook Pro... They're both aluminium but they have famous overheating issues compared to other laptops of the same specs.... Reason is that they sacrificed good heat ventilation and opted for slim/sexy chassis n design...

whether it is hot or not, decent cooler could settle the problem...i have decided to go for asus n53sn because of the design, warranty, better gc and quality. still waiting 'patiently' for the arrival sleep.gif'
*
Why not go for dv6 then? Best GPU lol

agree it has better gc but then dont have optimus so im guessing it might has lesser battery life and it has no usb 3.0, numpad and i prefer asus sleek design happy.gif

Added on January 30, 2011, 10:49 pm
some said after march, some say not true maybe around february so not sure which is true sleep.gif so which 1 u go for bro? dv6 or 5750g?
*
Battery life, wait for AMD to release new driver for the dynamic hybrid graphics for dv6, battery life would be better since it could use switchable graphics by then..

Asus themselves already confirmed about the logistics problem and earliest is March only.. February is old news...

I am predicting our price would be around rrp rm3.6k also when it comes out... Rm400 to get the laptop 1 month+ earlier? I guess it's worthed it if u need it urgently.. Laptop prices go down a bit after 1 month anyways..
