The environment in kumon is filled with tension. And i didnt go for any interview. I think when they need people fast, they don't mind taking students. Its pretty easy to get marking schemes. Most teachers who have marked the papers before have it. For me I have a relative who is teaching BM, she gets her friends to pass me all the marking schemes few months before SPM. |

yo! my ex teacher (pencen already) open a class at her house, each sub cost 150 per month per student. each class consist of about 30 - 40 student. she teaches 2 sub - Bahasa Malaysia and History for SPM students (form 4 & form 5). imagine if she got 120 student (about 4 class a week?)
300 x 120 = 36000 with just 4 class week maybe at most 4 hours per day (2 hours history, 2 hours Bahasa). Tell me if this is not enough for you. Another story, my friend (parent rich people) go to private tutor who teach accounts, physics and chemistry . i dont know how many time per week but it cost about 2000 per student. each class only max of 5 student. imagine that. so being a teacher does pay well. another story - i heard that these days, if u work as a gov teacher, u cant do tution. i dont know the details. just heard only. Good luck! |

Try going for gov school first. Understand the syllable especially for upsr pmr and spm. The pay as an teacher in gov school may sux but the side income from tuition is so so so good. Some even earn 10-20x their basic salary from school. Parents will beg u to admit their son or daughter and pay a lot of money if you can spot pmr or spm questions

QUOTE(Ken.B @ Apr 10 2011, 05:26 AM) Isn't it the marking scheme will change once in several years? Hmmm. Talking about marking schemes, I just saw sasbadi had these past yr papers with the answers inside. Not sure whether its the original marking scheme or the marking scheme by sasbadi. Everything will change including the syllabus so what is your point? If you work as a gov teacher you can do tuition if you apply for it. however, you can only teach a limited number of students per class. If you work as a gov teacher, you are not legally entitled to do tuition. HOWEVER, since many teachers do it and it would be kind of stupid to do a crackdown on tuitions, not many are actually penalised. |

My point is how private tutor can obtain the marking scheme without the connection with government? if the have to rely on friends that mark government exams, how can they get the marking scheme if they don't have such friends? Any suggestion? QUOTE If you work as a gov teacher, you are not legally entitled to do tuition. My tuition teacher told me that she had to apply for some sort of licence to teach as she is from the government. Of course, that's was what is going on a couple of years ago. Perhaps the government did ammend the law again. |
