oh OCBC. i dont have the card and never planned to do BT notworthy.gif

well you have direct access or cimb right. If yes then you should know that when CIMB/Direct Access first introduce BT last year with 0% it was initially for new applicants only. notworthy.gif

OT:
Dear erry, I know you have good intention to assist others (initially too eager maybe when you and persistence85 were spamming V13 like hell as if both competing to see whose post count can increase faster notworthy.gif ) but maybe you should refrain yourself from commenting on the subject of BT. Others share their actual experience on a particular BT plan whereas you would advise others based on what you read or hear say and may not have the entire picture For example, someone asked what is the best BT plan in the BT thread and you replied one of them was Alliance Bank 0% 12 months. Did you know that Alliance Bank got penalty of 5% of the Balance Transfer amount if settle in full early? notworthy.gif Your post above in reply to chem reply just shows you post for the sake of posting. Moreover you have announced that you never planned to do BT notworthy.gif

Now don't get me wrong, some of the posts you posted are extremely informative as you do go take the trouble to go search on what are the options available when answering people's question and I hope you do continue assisting other but just refrain from making comments and or advise if you have not experience/use it to avoid misinforming others.

and can you stop using the notworthy.gif smiley all the time which I think you are using it without sincerity notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif tongue.gif

yes i have DA but never know the BT is for new applicant only.

and yes i admit i also dont know much about Alliance BT.
but for me, mostly people do BT (example are my sis-in-law and my 5 friends, i replied based on their experience - with PBB) coz want to pay monthly without interest. so why want to finished early?

I think the 0% BT for newly approved cards promotion had expired last year.
What ? Sorry. I don't really understand what you're trying to ask.
*
meaning that the min. repayment is not 5% of the BT amount, instead is the 1/6 of your BT. this way seems like how citibank operate. anyway, does anyone know how Alliance Bank BT work? Alliance Bank provide 0% BT for 12 months for new applicant only. Upon receive the card only can call in for BT? Or it should be done during registration of credit card?

I assume you never get any sms from HSBC about their 0% BT offer ? Then there is no point to consider it as you are not eligible for their 0% BT offer. Only those who have received sms from HSBC are entitled for it.
Yes. I can.

Anyway, anyone knows how does the point system for Citibank regular credit card works ? I just got a regular Citibank VISA in December last year. The first statement came out in early January. The total outstanding was RM2820.89 and got 2770 CitiRewards points. However, i actually received 5096 (points earned) + 10888 (bonus points) this month, much to my surprise. Any idea what is it so ? Only RM5096.78 was charged to my Citibank VISA last month and i did not shop at any of the stores that Citibank is giving 5x CitiRewards Points last month. Where did all these bonus points came from ?

There are/were indeed such deals. Besides the one mentioned by chemistry, HSBC is the other bank that had such deal.
No problem !  smile.gif

It could be Citibank offer you that bonus point to offset RM50 GST laugh.gif

I think you can apply BT at the registration of the credit card coz if you wait for the card to be approved, and then submit the BT application for approval, will take a long time and incur finance charges.

I got the 12 months 0% BT with my existing Alliance card and got the disbursement within 10 days.

Alliance BT is also using a seperate account where you can directly pay into the BT account (as opposed to a tiered account explained by wshoh here)

EDIT: Btw, the 12 months 0% interest BT promo is over already sad.gif

coz during registration time, there're no 0% BT indicated in the form. so i have to wait till get the card then only apply. i just afraid they will said that it's only can be done during registration time, but not after..

hi all i am currently holding pb cc and looking forward to apply second, which prefer a internationally recognized and higher reputation, citibank cash back plat was first come to my mind but saw u guys recommend ocbc titanium in the other way. seems like i gotta apply both so that i won't take opportunity cost to miss the benefits of either one of the cards.

the question is if a got both cards approved, i will have 3 cards which i doubt there is a restriction of numbers of cards (2 per person)holding in the future, is it a true rumour?

no, u can hold as many cards as you like, as long as u pay the GST
if u want citibank for cash back/rebate purpose, I suggest you don't apply the card\

This rumor surfaced prior to the Budget 2011 announcement. It is still a rumor and remains a rumor.
Logically such implementation will create a chaos in the financial sector and make a lot of people in the industry unhappy. It is the last thing the government want to do at the moment - create chaos in the financial sector and scare everyone away.

Nevertheless, one should practice good common sense when it comes to how many credit card to own is enough.

Yes,the CS was right.
Only certain payees are available for payment via credit card. Alternatively, you may subscribe to GE's Easi-Pay.
Or, you may also consider getting an OCBC Great Eastern credit card to earn cash rebates on GE premiums, education fees, medical fees etc.

If your concern is recognition, Citibank/HSBC/Standard Chartered is well known international banks.
I believe most people here would agree that [(Maybankard 2 Amex + Visa) + OCBC Ti] is the best combination at the moment.

Don't be fooled by the perception that you need a "branded" bank to use your credit card.
You'll be surprised when you travel overseas that there are countries who do not know who the hell are those banks are if you are talking about - Citibank/HSBC/Standard Chartered. (This is my own personal experience) What matters is that your card carry the VISA/Mastercard logo + inform your banks prior to any overseas trips to avoid unnecessary roaming calls or your transactions being blocked when you are overseas.

25-Jan-2011 : Faxed in my application form without support docs as I have existing SonyCard Visa
02-Feb-2011 : Application has been approved.
03-Feb-2011 : M2U shows the new CC listing
10-Feb-2011 : Received the actual Maybankard2 AMEX + Visa via PosLaju

Would have gotten the card quicker if not for the long CNY holidays.

Thank you for the correction & valuable opinion.
I always inform card centre before going overseas, and never experience any card reject while shopping wink.gif
