http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/2779/lc1008ss001130.jpgfound this watch in v2, anyone know what is the model no? unrelated: I was told by a salesperson that I can get a bigger discount if I purchase an omega (perhaps same for other watches too) without a receipt, than with one. Guarantee card is provided. Is this true? This post has been edited by Human Nature: Jun 23 2011, 12:47 AM

thanks for this info. they made no mention about the repair cost and claimed the warranty will still be as normal. I am surprised that this involved one of the more established watch retailer in Melaka.
patryn33, any comment on entry level maurice lacroix watches?

Do not have any specific brand in mind, at least it has to be common brands available at retailers here in Malaysia. Maximum budget is ~RM3.5k only, thus a decent auto might be out of reach. Non-cluttered dial, leather strap. Something like the tissot quoted at the topmost post of this page would be nice. Looking at the links you gave, these 2 watches kinda attracts me, but unfortunately not the price: Oris Artelier Small Second Date (ref 623.7582.40.51.LS) http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/watchseller_2163_52396352Maurice Lacroix Pontos Grand Guichet GMT (ref PT6098-SS001-330) http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/watchseller_2159_1951609616Current desire is the Omega De Ville Hour Vision but simply out of reach, for now: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « The nearest thing to the blue dial which I came across so for is this Maurice Lacroix PT6158-SS001-43E Men's Pontos Blue Dial: http://s7v1.scene7.com/is/image/JohnLewis/...mp;op_sharpen=1

^ Ball watches are excellent in my opinion (more because of its association with railways, ruggedness and precision) but I have yet to see any with leather straps.
Forgot to mention that I have a small wrist, Ball might be too large i assume. I cant even fit to Rado true watches and the saleperson recommended the ladies range to me LOL.
add: am google-ing for Balls now, saw some leather ones..awesome

Two watch retailers here actually carry Frederique Constant! Went to check them out but not up to my liking. Saw the ML range..but over 10k price... What do you think of Rado Golden Horse, Model [R84.834.163]. Chronometer. Auto. Display price is RM2750...how much lesser can I expect? QUOTE(CHiNO730 @ Jul 28 2011, 04:42 AM) here's the original post on v2: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1415052/+1640it's not a review, but has some of my opinions on the watch. if you want to know a bit more, please let me know, i will share what i can remember. Thank you! I was wondering too whether it is scratch proof, and I got my answer. Hardlex is alright i guess. My perception of Seiko has changed considerably. Will lurk more in its specific thread. Love your photos. Nicely captured.

Guys, I am in KL today and found this piece. http://www.raymond-weil.com/EN/Mens-Watche...stc-00659.html#Price quoted is ~RM3500, is this a good price or do you think it can go down further? Listed ~$860 in amazon.. Hope to get some feedback. Good movement? I always thought RW would command price above RM10k at least, so is this a low end model? Sorry guys, I will only be here up till monday so need to make quick decision. Thanks

Hi, thanks for the prompt reply. Marketed like Oris or Ball means they are too commercialized? I dont really know this brand well. I only remember that before the 8pm prime news in my childhood years, they will always show this RW haha ticking up till 8pm.

^ I googled for its images. RW face attracts me more, esp with its roman numericals. need to sleep over this before deciding. Thanks for your added info. Helpful as always

In a watch review video, the reviewer rewinds the crown manually clockwise from its initial position, before pulling it out one step to adjust the date and another step, the time as per norm.
I am curious, why need to rewind the crown manually clockwise first? Thank you.
