looking for some advise from the sifus..

if between a dress watch and a chrono like these...which would you recommend for someone who's buying his first watch? one that could use in "most" occasion..

thanks! blush.gif

a dressy watch for me would beed to be a non-chrono one.

that classic dream was my first watch. and yes, im still very happy with it, altho it wears light, but its slim, slips under your sleeves easy.

guys, i've been looking at the omega speedmaster professional online, and im amazed by it. any experiences on getting a pre-owned one? new one? is it worth getting a pre-owned one?
saw one in watatime, it retails at Rm13k++. not sure how much the discount is tho.

thank you both for the info! im still trying to identify each and every speedmaster there is. hehehe.

@deriku

all the while i've been drooling over all the seamaster , now after seeing the speedmaster in person, all i do online is stalking it. haha.

can i generally say that the speedmasters have a lower pre-owned price tag compared to the seamasters?

@Chinoz

ah, shall PM him to get some info and what to look out when trying to get a pre owned. hehe. thanks!
before i take some time to gather info on their diff calibers, is the 321 the best? haha. i assume cos of the brows.gif hahaha

For a quick comparison, a SMP chrono (not PO) retails at slightly less than 12k, a Speedy is 13k. A used SMPC may go for around 7.5k, while a late model of the Speedy pro may easily fetch 8k or higher. So I think both hold their values pretty much the same.

However I cannot say whether it is the same for the non-chrono SMP or the PO series as I do not follow the prices as closely.

Added on November 8, 2011, 3:48 pmCalibre 321 was the movement used by the pre-moon Speedy, up to 1968 or so. It was later on replaced by the 861 and then the 1861 which can be found today's modern Speedy.

QUOTE(Chinoz @ Nov 8 2011, 04:40 PM)
Wouldn't say it's the best, but it is the definitive one that went to the moon heh.
For reliability and servicing convenience, the c1861 (found in modern day 3570s) IMO would be much better.

Maybe a 3570 now and a ST105.012 sometime down the road? tongue.gif

thanks for the info again guys..hehe. after oogling at POs and speedys so much, decided to watch Casino Royale last night. im still happy there was no laser shooting out of it or anything like that. laugh.gif

well, for now i'll be checking out the 3570 for sure! hehee. thanks again icon_rolleyes.gif

some eye candy..hehe

not really that hard  to find COSC 7750 at that price.
ie
Guinand watch is cert Chronometer by German not swiss COSC, even harder to find.
http://guinand-watch.com/index.php?option=...=183&Itemid=420

2892 COSC not hard to find too, really depends where u look.
Rolex movement is not equivalent to ETA 2892 chrono grade.
finishing of ETA 2892 maybe better than a Rolex.

price and brand is not a good way to compare. Rolex spend more $$ than Ball in marketing.
Ball LE resale value is usually weaker than Rolex.

the Guinand has a nice pilot dail and a diver bezel. or is it just me? hmm.gif but looks very nice...

1. What is the common discount that you can get? Possible to get more than 30% discount over the listed retail price?

2. Do you guys get charged extra for payment using credit card? Any tips on how to negotiate with the merchant?

Thanks!
*
1. sadly i have never gotten more than 30%. there's a shop in Gaint at my area, where i asked about their tissot seastar 1000 non-chrono, sales girl said 25% discount, if i kompom mau, boleh kasi lagi murah. i assume still can get more than 30%. lemme go "harress" that girl. brows.gif

2. nope. i never got charged with my cc purchase. im guessing the interest (if any) might be tied with the bank cc, i doubt it can be negotiated? im guess shooting in the dark on this.

Guys I'm thinking to buy a new watch, the budget is around RM700 + -.
Saw some of it like Titus Seiko and Casio. Anyone can recommend me a watch?
*
type of watch preferred? chrono? non chrono?

im a seiko guy, so i'd say, for that budget, a seiko monster? or the skx007 or skx009.
