QUOTE(Kampung2005 @ Jan 15 2011, 09:31 AM) I think i should work in bank instead of Intel or Motorola etc. When i passed through Western Digital plant everyday, i feel depressed. Well it's best to test your real interest first before deciding as u have yet to have any working experience. My teacher although ended up in a bank started at Ericsson as well.

QUOTE(Kampung2005 @ Jan 15 2011, 11:04 AM) But what is the correlation of engineer and bank? If you're talking about finance, well, not really...The stereotypes I can always think of are machines machines and machines, tapping into banking industries under engineering division probably need you to work with banking equipment consultancy company, or some other outsourced company by the bank.

There are interesting examples from Job and Career forum One person, mechanical engineer, offered to work in Citibank. How good!

The thing is that when banks are looking for trainees, the main things they are looking for is intelligence and a willingness to work hard. Having an engineering degree with good marks demonstrates both these things, as to be honest, getting an engineering degree is tougher than getting a business degree. I did business myself and I could laze around every day and still get fairly good marks.
It's true that the stuff you do in banking will have nothing to do with what you have learned in your engineering courses. But even for commerce students, they will still have to learn a tremendous amount on the job. Only less than 10 percent of the job scope will be related to what has been studied in college, as actual operations are very different from textbook stuff.

I don't to work in industrial area. I want to work in CBD. If i want to work in related stuff, i must find KTM.

And then again, what you learn in your engineering might not be useful at all in your future engineering job. Everything has to be learned again.

Of course there are a few things which are generally useful in all jobs, such as the use of Microsoft Office products, and good spoken and written English. I find myself using a ton of Excel now, and I hear banking uses it a lot as well.

- English? Not up to the mark.
I must learn how to behave during interview.
Ah, May 2012, i am coming.
