what is suede? there are a few good reads about it but through my understanding, suede comes from splits of leather thus making it less durable than pure/full grain leather itself.
that soft, almost fluffy kind of texture u get from suede is a result of harshly rubbing it, almost like sanding a wood.
anyway, the lauta's leather are not from cows. they're from sheeps. even the leather of nippon (handmade) mexicos are from sheeps.

i would personally recommend those special colourway that are not available in malaysia. but ultimately, decision is up to u, like how much are u willing to spend, to what extend does the sneaker makes you comfortable, and etc.

don't think OTs are pricey (generally ppl here can afford to buy one after 4-5 hours work)
the brand itself is rich in history. things that are rich in history tends to be more expensive don't u think?
careful selection of materials coupled with simple designs meant they're more durable. i'm still wearing my 1st pair of OT, which is like 8 years old already.. or maybe 9.
u have to think about the decision of pricing too. what if OTs were like RM100 shelf price? the brand itself would be worthless and ppl might think that it's a lousy brand, not worth getting and etc.

according to other OT users that have tried other shoes, they said OT is the best, until now.
in terms of style, if ure wearing normal sneakers such as converse or 'slim cut' shoes, u might wanna try mexico 66, mexico 66 lauta, or mexico 66dx.
if u prefer a more bulky shoes, u should check out ultimate81 series.
