Hdmi problem when LCD to laptop, Help needed

I just got my laptop so I tried plugging in the Hdmi cable to my laptop. And when i do so the tv keep saying output no supported. What us the problem actually?
I tried to play with my computer settings but still fail anyone got this prob?

What's the resolution setting on your laptop? Your lcd is hd ready (720p) or full hd (1080p)?
If your lcd is 720p & u set ur laptop output 1080p, then its not supported.

check the specs of your HDTV first, what model number?

Er, I believe you can change your screen resolution on your display setting? Try this resolution, 1280 x 720
|

i try to plug my laptop to led tv through hdmi cable....able to connect but no audio...its play through laptop instead my tv...how do i get the sudio connect to my tv
