ANYONE GOT THIS LAPTOP YET?

I WOULD APPRECIATE SOME COMMENTS ABOUT THIS LAPTOP BEFORE I PURCHASE IT! smile.gif

TO ALL "SIFU'S" WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS LAPTOP IF TO BE COMPARED WITH DELL XPS 15 OR ACER 5750G?

If there's an existing thread for this particular laptop, please direct me to it. SORRY!

dv6 series often known to have a lot of heating issues because of the ventillation design.. Not sure they have solved this problem yet, if they did then it's quite a good buy... definitely better than XPS...
*
Even with a cooler there will still be heating issues?

I've called HP pre-sales consultant and she told me that this is a new model released a week ago and is priced at RM 3299 ( online price )

international warranty, 1 year ( provided the country you're going have the same exact model )

well i'd say its a good buy with that kind of spec, but still holding my thought as someone mentioned it has overheating issues. Is there any other way to counter this problem?

the new lenovo Y560P with i7 2630qm and 6570m @ rm2999 should be one heck of a competition for 5750g =D

I will wait for a week or two more if I were you to see the situation...

With Sandy Bridges laptop + Strong GPU sold for such low prices, I am sure there're more models with similar specs coming out at similar prices.. By then you would have more choices and more user feedbacks...
*
ohhh yeah but i cant wait too long, i'm going abroad soon! ahaha thats why i'm so desperate for one. if not i would have waited for the xps 15 with sandy bridge. i like their deisgn.

QUOTE(ALeUNe @ Jan 15 2011, 12:09 AM)
Indeed. We'll see more SB notebooks in coming weeks.
It's been just 10 days since Intel launched SB.
SB notebooks might have already shipped out from the factory during last December.
*
AHAHAH yeah cant wait!

QUOTE(eugenechiuu @ Jan 15 2011, 12:26 AM)
If that is so, I would choose 5750G over Y560P... But HP dv6 is the best buy among the 3... Just need to wait for some proper reviews to see the temperatures..
*
Yeap since u mentioned that, would like some comments before i purchase it

It doesn't mention whether it's DDR3 or DDR5 for the GPU.
You can check with sellers at garage sales.

i wonder why the price stated here is rm4299? different compared to the online store. hopefully its a typing error http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/my/en/ho/WF...11-5041099.html
*
QUOTE(ALeUNe @ Jan 15 2011, 01:47 AM)
The price should be right.
If you look at the past history, HP Pavillions (with high-end processors) are in the premium category (with the price tag of RM3k & above).
The cheaper solution is Compaq Presario.
*
Actually i just checked and was surprised too! I called HP sales consultant yesterday and she told me its RM3299.

I'm not sure why now its 4299, is it a different model? and their website is just so confusing.

hi, as a trader for HP laptops, do u encounter any problems or feedback from customers regarding your dv6 models as there's like overheating problems or blackout problems and anything else?

Get a Cooler Master Infinite and away ur problems..

My housemate using the previous generation dv6 with i7-720QM and HD5650, his idle used to be 60+.. now that he got himself an CM infinite, his temp during web browsing only around 50-52..
*
ohh wow, thats good. yeah whats the diff besides infinite and U3? which one is betteR?

might be getting this laptop if the Asus N53SN doesn't come out in the next week or so. Only have two concerns:

1. The reported heat problems with the HP dv6 series. I suppose I would have to get a better cooler as mentioned above. Any suggestions besides the Cooler Master Infinite? And how much could I get a decent cooler for?

2. Warranty. I will be bringing the laptop back to Australia. Is there any international warranty with HP? Whats the warranty like?
*
I was told that first year is international warranty, however if u upgrade your warranty to 3 years ( RM 199 ) , 2nd and 3rd year is local warranty only.

Erm... U3 is customizable fans where u can position ur fan wherever u want..

Infinite is a big fan but it ventilates on the whole surface... U3 is slighly cheaper I think, but u need to look for effective spots to blow ur 3 small fans...
*
ohh, so what do u recommend? for a dv6 laptop?

i think U3 is better as i can place my fans at any area, but the fan is small

whats the cheapest price of dv6 you saw on lyp ? and in which shop?
*
RM 3999, but they upgraded a few stuff. Not the default spec shown in HP online store.

HP shop 3rd floor i think. not too sure.

and ask for that model, cuz there's no display for that model

i called HP, they confirmed its RM 3299.

they were shocked when i told them resellers are selling at RM 3999, as HP said the real price should be RM 3299.

I guess if they dont sell higher their old stock would be very hard to sell.

Since it has an average temperature more than normal laptop, i guess i'll go with N53SN, i dont wanna carry a cooler everywhere i go
