btw, i just remembered. the 4-2-1 headers for persona i saw yesterday, the O2 sensor is to be plugged into the 3rd pipe outlet. I heard that its best to relocate to the bottom of the header where it joins to the single pipe???

Is there any much difference?

Added on January 15, 2011, 10:33 amPoisoned kaw kaw.

Went to STY exhaust, 3rd mile Kuching to survey the headers GOT POISONED BIG TIME and ended up getting one. I have two choices. One, was to get the older design which is 4-2-1 also but the way the primaries meet up with the secondaries are in different config than the newer version whereby cylinder 1 and 4 shares the same secondaries and 2 and 3 cylinder shares the same secondaries and the O2 sensor is at the 3rd cylinder reading. The new version is the o2 sensor is located at the bottom end of the secondaries. Config of the new version is cylinder 3 & 4 goes into the secondary, 1 & 2 cylinder goes in the secondary. So meaning, the newer version have better flow out of the engine cylinders.......following me so far? laugh.gif

So anyways.... summary is.... i got these:
1. 4-2-1 header - RM300
2. Top Cat mid box replacing the original unit. To reduce metallic noise after installing header. - RM180

Results:
Lighter engine feel. More willing to accelerate. A bit of "zingy" noise at the header which is normal. Engine sounds less stressing when accelerating (its quieter actually, less of the engine roar noise.

Pics!!!!!!

The 4-2-1 header. Design is copied from Super Street headers. The other is the midbox from Top Cat.

Oh.....and i checked the stock diameter for Persona exhaust pipe.
Stock is about 1.8 inches plus. Almost 2 inch. The aftermarket headers are about the same....

Midbox is about 2 inch diameter.

All measured base on the inner diameter. NOT outer diameter. But the rear muffler outlet pipe is smaller... Didnt measure that though.

And if you noticed, the aftermarket header in mine does sit lower under the car... i would say its lower about almost an inch.

Added on January 15, 2011, 10:46 amxandras: Chicken brand from "Uni" KL side. It is noisier indeed. Design is copied from Super Street. The 4-2 config is like Skunk headers.

Can hear "zing" noise that comes from the header which is normal for most aftermarket headers. The muffler (stock) at the back is slightly louder but not noticeable at all while inside driving.

If you are observant enough, the 4-2 join config is different from brands like Hotbits and Powerzone.

Later i will post pics showing the internals of the CAT, burned marks of it showing roughly how hot it gets and how restrictive is the stock cast iron exhaust manifold..... It gives you a picture (imagination / visualize) of how restrictive the stock header is with its CAT bolted right under the manifold.

To be updated.

what buzzing sound?? engine idling shd be around 900rpm.. It can be tuned one. .

I got poisoned thats why i changed it that day. Actually i have it in plan for long time already but then always delayed the project till i saw the one with the properly placed o2 sensor location. Because a some aftermarket headers, the o2 sensor is placed at either cylinder 2 or 3 for reading. It is not accurate that way since it reads not from all cylinders.

QUOTE(Janick1437 @ Jan 15 2011, 04:00 PM)
hi Jason.. nice setup u got there.. can i know, the relocation of the O2 sensor, does it need for any cable extension/joining?? would like to know that, coz' i do not wan to cut the wire off.. hehehe.. but seem ur's just pulling it over and no joining right???
*
No joining. They just dismantle a part of the wire casing (plastic flexi tube) and pulled it to the back. Very easy and effortless.

Ur OEM filter is damn dirty.. So u can expect a lot of improvements.. Yeah i did feel good pick up during afternoons where normally the engine will feel very difficult to accelerate.. With Denso spark plugs ur car will feel totally different..  flex.gif
Poison kaw kaw ady loh.. Went to Sunway one shop there, got the proper 4-2-1 headers available (1-2,3-4 configuration).. He quoted me RM360, with midbox total RM530.. Haiyo how lah.. Dont buy CNY clothes this year and no gambling meh..  cry.gif

u going to get 1-2, 3-4 extrator?

Added on January 17, 2011, 1:30 amwith the new spark plug and air filter, crusing on seremban-kl highway average 170km. the feeling damn nice, power raise at 3 - 4k rpm, can feel the "tarik momentum", of course, don't compare with those FI engine. for NA engine, not bad already. i believe with the extractor and middle box as well as piping changed, the power sure increase a lot.
*
a dirty air filter does bring down ur engine performance. that day when i replaced my filter with new stock filter i can feel the difference already....

oh btw... next project... black roof (solid black) on my silver ride.

when start driving (while on the move) the engine looses power for a few seconds and gets back up again.... no jerking whatsoever. Just lost power (but not to the extend of stalling). Weird. My bro's 08 Persona also having such problem.

anyone knows whts wrong?

zeng, ahpaul: thanks for ur replies. gonna survey the price on my side then...

hong: time to change! those bosch pads sucks big time. btw, i never trust bosch brake pads. crappiest pads in the world. i almost had a big huge car crash during the days when i was driving my honda civic. sped down a straight at 160kmh reaching the roundabout, hit the brakes..... brake fade almost immediately, drop the gears (manual) still not enough.... stepped the brakes sooo hard with all my strength...still cant stop, traffic round the roundabout was moderate,... i just barely "slipped" in between the moving cars in the roundabout and fish tailed some more..... and i swore over my dead body that i will spit on and never use bosch pads ever again.

Just purchase Denso Iridium Plugs from ZenGTMM for my Proton PE. Thanks ZenGTMM for explaning to me about spark plug and accompanying me to the work shop to install the spark plug. What I notice after installing the engine smoother and acceleration better. Thanks again bro
*
try replacing ur exhaust extractors / headers to 4-1 or 4-2-1 and you will feel far more smoothness and far better acceleration man..... try it.

i am pretty happy with mine. damn satisfied.
