QUOTE(ZenGTMM @ Feb 7 2011, 09:52 AM) The power steering assembly is not a manufacturing defect.. Its just merely due to poor design and lousy msian road conditions, causing the pipe to flex and hit the car body when cornering on uneven roads.. So it causes an irritating knocking sound which is rather loud and irritating, to some ppl is worrying.. So they will replace it with the improvised pipe which is rubber, and it does not create any noise even when it hits the body.. The sound has been eliminated forever for those forumers who have changed it, including me.. thanks for the info. but i have got 2 additional question for you?And when they change it that time they will change ur power steering fluid for free too.. So since ur 40k km service is coming up.. Time for a free oil replacement.. 1. Does all the SC aware of this thing (the sound and the need to change this assembly) im going to SC at Bandar baru klang, staying near there or should i visit the famous CoSE. 2. Is this issue related to the sound that often explained as metal knocking sound when turning, last time i heard it can be settled with Orific Valve. or this is a diff issue by itself. |

QUOTE(ZenGTMM @ Feb 7 2011, 10:06 AM) 1) Yeah all SC are aware of this as its a common identified prob. However if u were to go to other SC they will have to see it first then order the parts, then u have to go again when the parts arrives. For COSE they will say they need to order parts too, but show them a black face then they will replace for u immediately.. But they will service ur car taking their own sweet time.. Better idea would be to make an appointment, then go there ask them to replace it, say u forgot to bring the order slip.. If they ask u the SC got call u to inform the parts are ready, then just say yes thats y u came to service. thanks mate. have a nice day ahead..2) Yeah its the same metal knocking sound.. And no orifice valve does not solve the problem, it sounds as seem the problem is solved but it still came back.. More like just a placebo effect only lah.. Yeah.. I noticed the piping are very messy and excessive too.. And u can see they tie up a lot of piping together with those zip-cords.. I see u have insulated ur aircond pipe also in ur pics last time.. Where do i get those insulators ah? BTW nice suggestions. |

QUOTE(jasondotcom @ Feb 7 2011, 10:13 AM) insulating the aircond pipe is just a piece of mind that the aircond does not loose out the cold gas to cool the evaporator inside the blower (in cabin) so that it will be cooler. those cold pipes flowing into the cabin heated up by the hot engine, will for sure looses its cool. so insulating it makes 101% perfect sense right? hahahah... some pics on your DIY MODS would really help us imagining. not only i insulate the aircond pipe.... i did it for some sections for the hoses and etc. i use small pvc pipe for added insulation also to prevent wear. cuz i found some pipes are pretty worn out and cut to certain extend due to excessive rubbing thanks to Proton's design for the piping layout. those insulators can be bought in lengths from car aircond shops. I think around RM10 per length. |
