Yup, that Fernando Suso is talented alright. I have watched a couple vids of him. Maybe need to bulk up a bit if he's going to play in BPL. You know, to fend off those physical challenges.

Dun worry, it wont happen

we will see in a few days time, if next Season, maybe

btw, is Suarez cup tied on Europa?
*
YES. I got this info from a FM thread or something.

QUOTE
Maxi Rodriguez wasnt eligible because Atletico were also playing in the Europa League (3rd place in CL group behind Chelsea and Porto).

Pedro Mendes played in the CL for Rangers but since Rangers were 4th in their group (out of all european competitions) he was eligible to play in the Europa League for Sporting in February. (transfered in January)

It would be based on the bolded part. Ajax placed third in Champs League group stage and will go thru to Europa League round of 32. Same goes for you lots. So, he is ineligible.

He would be eligible if it the same with Pedro Mendes' case.

after mind cooling down, i think we cannot blame torres solely... i doubt we wil get suarez in time as the owners seem like not wanting to inject money invest on new players as promised to torres right before season start wit a cheeky 12.5m bid for suarez and then saying not tat they dun wan to buy but ajax dun sell... even wit adam's quality they only willing to pay 4.5m or so? tis is reali depressing.. hope torres makes up his mind and bang in goals for the rest of season and then see how far we can go next season...
*
I thought Liverpool has agreed to 22.8m pounds for Suarez, no? I'm guessing they are negotiating on personal terms, now.

According to the report, 42m + Anelka or directly 50m.

Pretty much worth it. You lots can buy quality players with that kind of money. It's either you go with instant players to challenge for UCL and League again or you invest it in youth/academy.

But the irony will be that Torres might play against you lots next week?

I can see why KD want Anelka as part of the deal. With so little time on our side to find a replacement, it would only makes sense that KD want a proven league scorer to replace Torres. True that Anelka is 32 soon and probably not as good as Torres is, but at desperate situation like this where we have only few days left, there isn't much choice for us, no?The only weird thing is, I see Anelka and Suarez as the same player. Both are good as being feeder, feeding balls to player like Torres. So, my question is, would Anelka-Suarez partnership works? I wonder...
*
Anelka = proven goalscorer. Chatted with my frens, Pool fans(obviously), that you lots supposed to snap him up from Real back then?

I've always think that 4-4-2 is the way to go with English Clubs. Trying Anelka and Suarez isn't a bad idea after all.

No offense taken mate, we've suffered before through Michael "Owen" Judas playing against us.
With 50M we can really attempt a complete overhaul of the squad.
*
None taken.

50m to complete overhaul eh? I think you can build on Mereiles - Lucas partnership. Flanks, maybe you need quality players there. Then, you can push back Kuyt to partner either Suarez/Anelka. A decent LB. I read that someone suggested Nagatomo last night? He is great from what I've seen. To handle BPL, not so sure.

methinks we need to rebuild the "spine" as they call it.

The old spine used to be consisting of a VERY happy Reina-Carra-Alonso-Gerrard-Torres.

Now we just have to rebuilt it from scratch.
*
Well. There is 1 name that can be crossed out there. And 1 more, maybe. Nothing is confirmed yet.

In radio_head's defense, that Chamberlain kid is quality, I think. Theo Walcott with footballing brain. He played well last night.

okay, now I just realised that I'm in Pool thread and discussing about Pool. Irony, LOL.

i'm still not confident of this one going through, judging by our 'legendary' negotiating skills. all u guys have to do is stall for a few more days and we'll end up with nothing. the transfer request he put in does complicate things a little, but i believe kenny dalglish is someone who can get torres fired up at least until the end of this season.

whether we're still interested by then is another matter. the fee is huge and i'm concerned about his injury problems especially since he's at his 'peak'' age now. but if it does go through, you will end up with a much bigger budget come next season, and with the likes of luis suarez (whom i rate highly despite the handball furore) willing to come, it can only mean good things for lfc. with that kind of money, liverpool could hijack both sanchez and hazard, and i wouldn't be shocked if that happened.

who knows if the deal takes place, it could actually be a win-win for both clubs with liverpool getting a massive financial injection to rebuild, and torres helping us to hopefully secure more trophies.  smile.gif
*
I don't know how you see it though. Having one of your best players going against you is the last thing I would like to have. With that kind of lineup in Chelsea, for sure I wouldn't want Torres to join you lots. At least until the end of the season. I can see him banging goals left, right and centre if he is going there.

Not that I'm belittling Pool's midfielders but Chelsea's are far superior. Even superior than ours, United.

Plus, even if Pool had that much of money, I don't think they will have enough time to shop around. Negotiating takes time. If it is simple as ABC, I reckon that Chelsea have bought Luiz, Sanchez and others. Clubs will want to put the BEST price for their players. Milking money out of the buying clubs.

naw mate, all's good. IF you wanted to talk about Utd players we'll come in over, I especially coming up from family and relatives of Utd supporters understand very well the appreciation to players like Giggs and Scholes, who are the real 'vanguards' of the Utd team. But that again is a different topic to be discussed in a very different thread, no? smile.gif
*
Well, that is a diff topic. tongue.gif

Season still a long way to go. Anyone can f*** up, anytime. Plus, the lower and midtable teams are much more than capable of upsets, this season.

I understand your point smile.gif

Torres is one man. He is not irreplacable, No doubt he is World Class but Im not going to look more into it because the same can be said about Owen when he left Liverpool to seek for trophy's to Real. We all thought it was doom and gloom and there goes our chances to win trophies. but we won the Champions League that year and 2 years later we went to the finals again with Crouch and Kuyt as our main strikers, nothing against them but they are hardly cut out of Torres ilk are they? & Torres wasn't as prolific as he is now but a a precocious talent when he was at Atletico but he did come to Liverpool afterall.Didnt he?

We need the others lads in the club to step up which I'm sure they will and if they do we might play as well as they can and qualify for for any tournaments and win it, now whose to say that top players might not come to Liverpool?
*
No. Athletico has tried their best to ignore offers from others. In the end, they listen to you lots. Torres was prolific before he came to you and you lots provided him a better/bigger competitions to play in.

SAF had 2 choice:

SEll to Man. City, (and make Tevez a scapegoat)

or

Sell to us. (and mascherano would stay)
Man City made a slightly lower bid IIRC.

Now if Tevez really wants to come, I'm not so sure if he wants to come at all or not.
*
In that old man's defense, we didn't sell Tevez. His contract expired and he chose City himself. We didn't own Tevez. We only loaned him back then. I don't know where you guys get the info but that is wrong.

No value in the market. laugh.gif

Who care what he said? He bidded that much for a young rooney back then
*
Rooney was around 20m plus. Comparing to Andy Caroll, Rooney was a proven goalscorer in big stages. And at that time, it was Euro2004.

Oh come on. Take off your rose tinted glasses. He was a proven goalscorer in Euro2004. That and he had his hattrick on his debut against Fenerbache in UCL.

20m+ that time is as big as 35m now...if u get what i mean....
*
20m+ on Rooney which was 18 at that time is quite a sum. English, proven goalscorer in big stages and still young. Worth it?

In no way I am belittling Carroll though. He is quality but he is not exactly proven in bigger stages.

We dont know for sure that now do we? when he has been selected for England nor has NUFC qualified for Europe isnt it?

If he comes then we will know since Suarez will be ineligible & Carroll leading the line in the Europa League..not exactly a bigger stage but its still a European competition.
*
I am not belittling Carroll. In no way. I am correcting some people with their posts.

No offense though.

I am sure Carroll can prove himself in European competitions. He definitely has the tools for it.
