Maxi Rodriguez wasnt eligible because Atletico were also playing in the Europa League (3rd place in CL group behind Chelsea and Porto).

Pedro Mendes played in the CL for Rangers but since Rangers were 4th in their group (out of all european competitions) he was eligible to play in the Europa League for Sporting in February. (transfered in January)

after mind cooling down, i think we cannot blame torres solely... i doubt we wil get suarez in time as the owners seem like not wanting to inject money invest on new players as promised to torres right before season start wit a cheeky 12.5m bid for suarez and then saying not tat they dun wan to buy but ajax dun sell... even wit adam's quality they only willing to pay 4.5m or so? tis is reali depressing.. hope torres makes up his mind and bang in goals for the rest of season and then see how far we can go next season...

I can see why KD want Anelka as part of the deal. With so little time on our side to find a replacement, it would only makes sense that KD want a proven league scorer to replace Torres. True that Anelka is 32 soon and probably not as good as Torres is, but at desperate situation like this where we have only few days left, there isn't much choice for us, no?The only weird thing is, I see Anelka and Suarez as the same player.Both are good as being feeder, feeding balls to player like Torres. So, my question is, would Anelka-Suarez partnership works? I wonder...

With 50M we can really attempt a complete overhaul of the squad.

methinks we need to rebuild the "spine" as they call it.

The old spine used to be consisting of a VERY happy Reina-Carra-Alonso-Gerrard-Torres.

Now we just have to rebuilt it from scratch.

i'm still not confident of this one going through, judging by our 'legendary' negotiating skills. all u guys have to do is stall for a few more days and we'll end up with nothing. the transfer request he put in does complicate things a little, but i believe kenny dalglish is someone who can get torres fired up at least until the end of this season.

whether we're still interested by then is another matter. the fee is huge and i'm concerned about his injury problems especially since he's at his 'peak'' age now. but if it does go through, you will end up with a much bigger budget come next season, and with the likes of luis suarez (whom i rate highly despite the handball furore) willing to come, it can only mean good things for lfc. with that kind of money, liverpool could hijack both sanchez and hazard, and i wouldn't be shocked if that happened.

who knows if the deal takes place, it could actually be a win-win for both clubs with liverpool getting a massive financial injection to rebuild, and torres helping us to hopefully secure more trophies. 

naw mate, all's good. IF you wanted to talk about Utd players we'll come in over, I especially coming up from family and relatives of Utd supporters understand very well the appreciation to players like Giggs and Scholes, who are the real 'vanguards' of the Utd team. But that again is a different topic to be discussed in a very different thread, no?

but i dont think when torres joining chelsea, and chelsea become champion this season, even they need to struggle be at top 4 to qualifies CL. am i right?

Torres is one man. He is not irreplacable, No doubt he is World Class but Im not going to look more into it because the same can be said about Owen when he left Liverpool to seek for trophy's to Real. We all thought it was doom and gloom and there goes our chances to win trophies. but we won the Champions League that year and 2 years later we went to the finals again with Crouch and Kuyt as our main strikers, nothing against them but they are hardly cut out of Torres ilk are they? & Torres wasn't as prolific as he is now but a a precocious talent when he was at Atletico but he did come to Liverpool afterall.Didnt he?

We need the others lads in the club to step up which I'm sure they will and if they do we might play as well as they can and qualify for for any tournaments and win it, now whose to say that top players might not come to Liverpool?

We dont know for sure that now do we? when he has been selected for England nor has NUFC qualified for Europe isnt it?

If he comes then we will know since Suarez will be ineligible & Carroll leading the line in the Europa League..not exactly a bigger stage but its still a European competition.
