QUOTE(evofantasy @ Jan 30 2011, 10:40 PM)
go ahead and report me for such stupid reason...
u rather loose some1 who is one of the best striker (and proven) in the BPL to a RIVAL TEAM?
so wut if Chelsea went on and win a couple more titles (thus becoming the next MU) and they when they are at 18 titles, u would hope that ur best striker would go to another rival team then?

every1 is a troll if they dun agree with ur nonsense idea...
sorry but i just feel sad for liverpool to have such fan...
i have friends who are liverpool fans and my dad is one of the biggest liverpool fan i've known (yes i am a MU fan)...
to support a team is to see a team do well regardless...

why would u wanna loose torres when its better for him to be with the team and rebuild it...
wut more he is experienced enough to guide the new players...
i for one hoped to see liverpool back into the top4 for rivalry sake...
MU may be able to get their 19th title, but wut is there to stop liverpool from getting their 19th, 20th etc?

i think all the seniors here should know what i am talking about very very well...

Mate, don't get turned off by a few sensitive posters. Often there are comprehension problems and posters get a little peeved for no good reason.

I think I speak on behalf of most Liverpool posters when I say opinions from rivals are welcome. I absolutely disdain posters who claim to be the "best fans" just because they read it from somewhere and then act the total opposite whilst at the same time demanding to be respected. No one expects only pro-Liverpool posts in there especially since this is a discussion thread which by default means there will be differing opinions. Do ignore childish name calling if you come across any. I think the mods are matured enough to spot a provacative post if they see one. In the end no one can fault you if you back your opinion up with fact or at the very least, logic. Lord knows I've had my own spats on this very same thread despite everyone being on the same team.

Back to the topic. Under no circumstances would I want to lose Torres. Us fans have learned to idolise him in the short time that he's been with us. The "Torres bounce" is one of the catchiest chants and I'll be disappointed to lay it to rest. The picture of the "YNWA" inscription inside his captains armband while playing for Atletico is still as clear as day in my mind. "The Kid" and "The King", I really thought we were moving forward especially after he reiterated his commitment to the club. Like many Liverpool fans however I guess I was fooled into believing that loyalty was bigger then the all-mighty dollar. Forget about all this "winning trophies" talk. In the end, money talks. I bare no malice however because any employee would change jobs if given a better offer. I am deeply disappointed by him handing in a transfer request but I am at the same time thankful for all he's done. In the end, I have a choice to remember him as a player who we love, or as a sell-out. I choose the former.

In a way its kinna contradictory isnt it? Being 'totally committed' to a club yet at its all time low, decided to leave?

Absolutely and not since Gerrard has a player been so revered at Anfield, more so a player that has only been here for 3 seasons. When was the last time someone sold more jerseys than Gerrard? His turnaround is indeed a contradiction of what he said 3 weeks earlier. It doesn't mean that all the goals suddenly don't matter. He did his part in helping us finish second, we were so close. It is foolish to expect players to stay with one club these days with the lucrative sum of cash some oil tycoon can throw their way, more so a player whose heart is with Atletico Madrid and not us. If anything, blame ourselves for buying into what he's said.

Torres could be the biggest of Liverpool fans but it doesn't mean he'd stay with the club for the whole of his career. Many players leave their boyhood teams to pursue better career options. Jut because they leave doesn't mean however that they stop becoming fans. Many players still follow the progress of their favourite clubs after leaving. Alonso and Mascherano still do. K
Meijer and Haggem still do.
