1. Brand=any
2. Budget=2+++k
3. Specs=i5 or i7,dedicated gpu as ill b using CAD/CAM,as well as some gaming such as COD
4. Size=any
5warranty=ill b needing intl warranty that covers australia

ive been surveying and i find asus x42j very compelling, but the battery life isnt so great.any suggestions?acer perhaps?
*
I would suggest Asus due to its 2 year intl warranty and the new models that hasnt been released yet but soon. If u can wait.
A52JV, A42JP would be nice ones to look at for either 15" or 14"

hey guys I need some help here
I need a laptop that can run 3Dmax, Autocad, Ilustrator, CS5, etc smoothly
my budget only around RM3k++....any recommendation????

oh yea, and what should i look at for a good laptop for graphic design??? CPU???, GPU????, RAM???????
*
all are important =) cpu and ram for multitasking, modeling and rendering; gpu for more smooth and precise linework, viewports(modeling) and pixels.
atm...the Acer 5750g should do great for this if not u can wait for the new Asus models

yea I was thinking of Asus but there are kinda too expensive...im on a tight budget and i need it ASAP for college, lecturer asking to bring laptop on Friday sleep.gif'''

hmmm i am seriously thinking bout Acer 5750G. What is the screen resolution??
*
if u need it urgently and tight on budget then go for 5750g seriously...
15.6" HD Acer CineCrystal LED LCD
1366 x 768
this should be sufficient =)

hmmm how about Lenovo Y560P???

Acer or Lenovo better???
im also looking at quality not just performance
*
Yea u can also take a look at the new y50p with sandy bridge processor.. The gpu is different. ATI HD 6570M which is probably slightly better than gt540m and 750gb hdd biggrin.gif oh and surely has bluetooth
Whether acer or lenovo is better...i lean towards lenovo more personally but im not too sure if they already have it in market. can ask hikari85 whos sellling

Yea its definitely out in the market, CNY promotion summore

IMO, if you wan the best and awesome quality go for ASUS(expensive). If you wan a good performance but ok ok quality go for Lenovo, Acer or Toshiba (price ok la). DELL and HP sucks !!!Don't even bother bout Sony Vaio, its more on looks than performance

Added on January 14, 2011, 11:59 pmoh yea just to confirm
ATI 6570m or Nvidia GT540m better????

GT540m got benchmark on notebookcheck.net but 6570m don't have. Somehow the 6570m is higher than GT540m
*
i saw the pricelist for the Toshiba and Qosmio sandy bridge lines, and i can say that its at least rm6999 with the same specs as the 5750g shocking.gif but it has 3D stuffs. i can say that toshiba is the expensive line rather than Asus which is more of a middle to low priced bang for buck kind of brand tongue.gif
theres no benchmark yet for 6570m but i reckon its more or less the same with gt540m

how was the performance?is it good?i mean for softwares like cad and other engineering software.ive been targeting this model too.

how about asus x42jr?
*
if u only use cad 2D then theres no problem...but the ati 5470 to me isnt that attractive...if u can wait for the new Asus models then thats much better

Asus is mostly best based on quality and performance. Price.....expensive la
My friend drop his Asus G71 then go for RMA. The technician offer a CPU upgrade and add 2 years warranty just for RM50.......

anyways....i dunno la HP or Acer or Lenovo
My head really gonna explode la

i dun really care bout Optimus. Its just power consumtion. ATI also should have i think
*
have u seen the asus X and A series? it can almost compete with acer pricing at times. and the G series is Asus' most expensive series which is for gaming. So of course its unfair comparing these models recommended to u now with G series.
no ATI has no optimus but i hear dosent heat up as fast as Nvidia biggrin.gif

Sandy Bridge is the codename given to the new core i processors. The old ones have different names. Is that what u want to know or u want something technical.?

yes something technical , why people say it is better?
*
To make it simple..because it is much faster than the old processors. The i7 laptop sandy bridges can match with some desktop i7's. Plus the integrated graphic card that comes with it (Intel GMA) is much better than before and its power consumption also improves from the old processors since it only utilizes cores that are in use therefore improving battery life.

Well, your potential notebook surely won't last you a lifetime  laugh.gif
COD isn't very demanding compared to other games like Metro2033 haha  laugh.gif
Anyway, here's a website for you to gauge the performance of the GPU of your choice: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Game...ds.13849.0.html

Anyway, what's your preferred laptop size? So far most of the good laptops currently are 15 inchers...
N53SV (i5-2420M + GT540@RM2799)
A53SV (i5-2420M + GT540@RM2599)

Can consider these two... but may need to wait for them to be available  nod.gif
*
isn't it supposed to be i5-2410M? hmm.gif

what the difference between i5-2420 and i5-2410? which1 better?
*
i think its a typo error. supposed to be 2410. but the benchmarks seem disappointing. its even slower than i5-460m?

Yup knew it. the previous brochure was only a preliminary with lots of undecided models and inaccurate. N43sl specs never appeared around here anyways.
