Is it safe to buy sandybridge laptop now? It only affect sata 300...or something like that rite? I'm really confuse with the seriousness of SB error. Any1 care to explain?

I really need a laptop now, but comparing the price, SB laptop are mostly cheaper and a lot more powerful.

budget : below 4k

i7-740QM
8gb ddr3
500gb 7200rpm
14/15'' (screen quality are important to me)
graphics card - at least enuf to play starcraft2 at mid setting

any recommendation?

I'm heavy photoshop, maya, zbrush user and average gaming. I usually paint very high def artwork in photoshop, like around 5000-6000px 300dpi, and often open up to 3-4 software multitasking.

How much does it cost if I go to shop upgrade my ram from 4gb to 8gb dualchannel?

Budget is below 4k. Actually I already ordered xps14, but they need to wait until march only deliver to me. And I need laptop to use now, so im considering to cancel the order and buy another 1 in cash.

then maybe I'll buy a monitor instead. Any laptop thats better or worth buying than xps14? I ordered my xps14 at RM3.8k with the spec I mentioned.
