I'm looking for a Laptop price around rm1.8k to rm2.3k. Can someone recommend a good buy for new models?
Require: 15" & above DVD-RW drive ATI or NVidia graphic card. 2-4gb ram Quad processor no need newest 64bit windows hdmi output. I can accept dell, acer or other reputable brand. |

Is there any big difference with the i3 & i5 chipset for an extra rm100? Is the acer better deal as it has better Ati?
Actually what laptop comes with quad processors? |

Actually the Turbo Boost, is it like Overclocking? But at manufacturer's setting?
What is switchable GPU? Switch from nVidia to? So better not get the latest processor due to Intel design flaw? What about Dell 15R i5 is this chipset affected by the latest i5 & i7 problem? Is rm100 worth the jump from i3 to i5? And is rm2xx worth the jump from 15R to 5750G? 5750G spec pretty high but risk of uncertainty... Ok, seems i3 is a better buy since most of the time i would be pushing the GPU to it's limits way before the processor reach anywhere close to it's peak. Too bad no rm100 rebate now...
Compare to Dell XPS 15 which is even slightly more expensive than 5750G yet much lower spec, Acer is definately a good buy, but preharps rm400 can be put to other better use, considering the new i7 has alot of uncertainties. Well the chipset alone is a problem, for like 5750G etc. We'll never know whether they get the problematic chipsets & whether if replaced the problem will be solved? Though i'm not sure how the problem effects the laptop.
Can help out abit defining the weakest to strongest GPU for ATI & Nvidia? Can easily tell the two brands with the GPU model number but comparing ATI & Nvidia equivalent is not easy for me. How does the faulty chip affect the laptop? Hang/overheat etc?
Thanks for the ratings, if 5730 can't handle 1080p well, GT420M would be much worse seeing it's slower than a HD5650. So if going for high performance 5750G is the best option in terms of price & performance. An extra rm400 from 15R i3 to 5750G resulting a big jump in performance is still tempting though.
