Hi, any recommendation laptop with spec of i5 + 4GB DDR3 RAM (can be extend to 8GB DDR3 RAM)???
Thanks
*
Hihi laugh.gif
Almost every normal laptop has (at least) 2 RAM slots, so shouldn't be a problem there nod.gif
Mind stating your usage, budget and preferred size?

If solely for normal office work, Lenovo Z460 (i5-480M+ Intel GMA HD@RM1699, FreeDOS; W7 HP@RM2099) would be a good choice

Added on February 23, 2011, 12:02 pm@sirelwin,

I'm assuming "traffic simulation" requires alot of CPU power?
Can consider X42Jr (i7-740QM + ATI 5470@RM2899)... if you don't mind waiting (which I recommend you should), try to wait for the Sandy Bridge laptops [50% more powerful or so at the same price] (Lenovo V470 would be a good choice then, among with other 15 inch SB laptops)

Any specific laptop size you're looking for?

Asus A52JV-SX022V do available in market
Asus X42JR-VX141V EOL model

Thank you marcus for sharing the info notworthy.gif
If X42JR is EOL already then there's currently no i7 powered 14 incher liao? sweat.gif

Anyway, based on the link given, I see a few new members (or revealed specs) to the Asus family:
N53SV (i5-2420QM + GT540@RM2799)
A53SV (i5-2420QM + GT540@RM2599)

Okay, the price difference between this 2 laptops is a bit too close? Who would buy the A53? sweat.gif
Seems like still no news for the N43?

N53SV same as N53SN right?? the diffrence is the i5 (of cuz i7 also can) so the price is lower?? intel can be upgrade or not??
*
Yeap, based on the link, the only difference is the processor, 2nd generation i5 and 2nd generation i7 (edit: and also the GPU GT550 vs GT540) nod.gif
The price difference is big between these 2 though, approx. RM 900 difference o...
The question lies in whether you need the extra power or not nod.gif

Nope, you cannot upgrade the processor

any other laptop that is comparable to Acer 5750G within the rm3k budget? thinking whether to just change the mobo or just get the full refund and buy something else.
*
Comparable? Not at the moment nod.gif
Usually its hard to compare with Acer in terms of price:performance thumbup.gif

1. Brand. - Sony, Asus, Hp, Lenovo, Toshiba, no (Dell, Acer, Compaq, MSI)
2. Budget. - <RM5000
3. Specs. - Good CPU and GPU, i5 at least and anything close to 425 performance
4. Size. - 13~ or 14~ inch

I want to look for a thin and light laptop.

Thank you.
*
Thin and light laptops are usually not powerful vice versa...
Asus U41Jf would be a good choice with i5-480M+GT425@~RM3k..
There's nothing from Toshiba and Lenovo as well which is thin and light (yet fulfills your requirements) lol laugh.gif Not sure about the others...
Perhaps you should wait for the new SB laptops, who knows what will be available...
If buying in a hurry then maybe need to compromise and get those normal 13/14 inchers...

Yeap, I'm aware of that, the price of the N53SV has already been announced [credits to marcus sifu], do refer to the previous page of this thread nod.gif
I was just wondering why you say N53SV is better haha laugh.gif

What's the specs again? Too fragmented to even read sweat.gif
And I want to really ask :
pros and cons : 14 inch vs. 15 inch??????
*
N53SV (i5-2420QM + GT540@RM2799)

The difference between 14 and 15 inches are quite significant, better think twice before going for a 15 incher, especially if you're a mobile warrior hehe laugh.gif

which wan more worth it, N53SN or the N53SV. Specs are almost the same but the price range is really really far

One runs on 2nd generation i7 coupled with GT550M whereas the other runs on 2nd generation i5 coupled with GT540M, the price difference is more or less justified nod.gif

I actually gonna take the laptop for college and back and forth from Ipoh...
Price for A53SV is good.
Any laptops with similar spec by ASUS which is a 14 incher? ??
*
Don't go for a 15 incher then, it'll break your back haha sweat.gif
A compromise in terms of comfort/performance has to be made...

Anyway, no news on the N43 yet... marcus will probably let us know if there is thumbup.gif
